Understanding the Benefits of Prescribed Fire

Prescribed fire is an incredibly effective and inexpensive tool available in the wildlife manger's tool box. Safely and responsibly conducting a controlled burn on your property will create tremendous habitat for deer, turkey, quail, song birds and other non game species as well. In this video, we evaluate the plant response of a controlled burn in a clear cut, and how it will benefit wildlife.

Good video. I've been interested in prescribed fire for awhile in SE Ohio but so many boxes to check and even my state forester discouraged me saying it's too challenging and time better spent on other practices. Maybe someday...

When it comes to doing control burning in the State of Ohio, there can be “boxes to check” but, don’t let these hurdles stand in your way if this is something you really want to do. @@meandale It can be intimidating! See if you can rope in a couple buddies or neighbors to lend a hand. The juice is worth the squeeze!
