Like Shulk, resembling Zanza, from Xenoblade Chronicles. Not even going to object, if they took that route. The writers threw a curve ball making us think Ardyn was the true villain. Then his story came out like the later seasons of LOST did.

@@ricsouza5011 ardyn is a straight villain. He was going to kill Regis and destroy Lucis years before. Bahamut stopped him and told him he had a fate, that ardyn would be able to see his goal come through, but he had to do it in the way the gods demanded, ardyn being a Lucian, would also have to die in order to achieve the goal of destroying the Lucian line. When they made the game, they canonized him agreeing with bahamut, because he was evil, he was willing to do anything to follow through with his goals. Sure they eventually made other "timelines" but that doesn't wipe away what ardyn truly thought in each moment.

I accept Dawn Of The Future an alternate timeline, as of now, the game has 4 timelines. We have the original game, The omen trailer where it's a timeline where Noctis didn't have the bros by his side, it's pretty much a bad ending, but this is then stopped by Regis by sending the bros with Noctis. Then we have the Episode Ignis alternate ending where Ignis doesn't go blind, Ravus lives and Noctis lives and apparently defeats Ardyn without the Sacrifice, and then we have Dawn of The Future where it's a big happy ending. I really like the theory that Regis is behind all of these alternate timelines since he can't bear the fact that his son has to suffer the consequences for the sins of the past and just wants him to be happy. But overall I still think the original ending is still the canon ending.

    • @SAR-re1fx
      @SAR-re1fx 3 года назад +15

There´s more timelines, there are images in the book where Aera (Ardyn lover) got infected by the scourge and another one where Noct and Luna have two kids, Ardyn doesn´t die, and all go camping like a big family. So there´s like 5 I guess?? Plus the Versus XIII

Its just so pact with lore that it just can't be done in one game. And if it could, the quality of it would have to drop for the costs.

Honestly, I have come to terms with Dawn of the Future being the canon ending even if the original story doesn't work anymore. Perhaps that was the point of the new ending. The characters fought to challenge fate and get their happy ending, even if it meant ruining Bahamut's plan and making the original story not as satisfying. I know this is kind of a long shot but it makes me feel better about the new ending. Besides, now I can relax and go around exploring Eos in chapter 15 happily knowing that everything was okay in the end.

Dawn of the Futute doesn't make me feel better, because I get even more pissed! All of this should be in the game! Square-Enix committed a sin with whoever bought the game and is a fan of the series. The game had everything to have an epic story. But, the complicated development of the game and the cancellation of these DLCs put everything to lose! I wanted to see more content from the story, such as Lunafreya, which appeared little in the game, in addition to how Noctis was inside the crystal.
I liked the game. But all these problems frustrated me. A canonical end of the game through a book ?! Unacceptable! It was supposed to be in the game!

The "killing gods because they are evil" concept is very common in Final Fantasy, mainly VI and XIII, so Bahamut choosing Somnus / Noctis because they look like him but them rebelling and not being his little puppets makes perfect sense.

I may be wrong on this but for me, in the main game Bahamut is only a plot device but no evil god pulling the strings. This is exclusively to the alternate ending where the game needs a new antagonist so to speak, since Noctis and Ardyn are joining forces more or less. I think we didn't get played by Bahamut in the ending of the main game.
This way, all the sacrifices in the main game and especially Noctis' ending are not in vain and still meaningful. This ending is just a bit darker since we don't get a happy ever after but rather Noctis and Luna in their 'final fantasy'.
We have to not only look at the story of Noctis and Ardyn differently depending on whether we play the main game or read the alternate ending, but also the character of Bahamut imo. At least I like to think so, since it would end both stories in a meaningful way.

So, there is one big puzzlepiece I just can't seem to fit into either narrative.
And that is the Cave of Eos.
I remember the time around the launch of the game, when we had barely anything but breadcrums of a story that once were or was supposed to become.
There were all these theories about another summon named Eos, sort of like Zeus in her role, and that all summons but Ifrit attempted to usurp her. That the statue in the cave looked awfully similar to Ardyn and that it was speculated that he may be a decendent of her and so on.
Is there anything in either current version of the game that even attempts to justify the symbolism of the content of that dungeon now? I haven't touched that game since its inception unfortunately.

Luna needs better character development, so at least DotF gave us that. But for me, nothing will top Ignis’s alternate ending.

It would mean that his journey was just as meaningful but he realized that not everything is black and white and that Arden is the true hero that was supposed to prevail. They set aside their differences to defeat a common enemy.
You're definitely being contrarian about this too since the cut DLC definitely sounds way more poetic and better than what we originally got with a happy ending and an epic set of events to proceed it.
I think you're just saying you hate the DLC because you know that we'll never get it and you can't cope with that fact

It’s really depressing that this game’s vision will never be properly executed. If it had been I feel like it could’ve easily been one of the standout stories of not only the entire franchise, but gaming as a whole. For a game that was literally left unfinished I’m kind of surprised it turned out as coherently as it did.
What most excites me and/or makes me sad is thinking about what all was left on the cutting room floor after it’s extremely long and troubled development cycle. Clearly this game was meant to be a huge multi-faceted story judging from the amount of multimedia tie-ins, the season passes that were planned, etc. For however many of those actually got made, I wonder what didn’t due to time, budget, and general lack of direction? I doubt we’ll ever truly know the whole story but it would be cool to find out all the “what ifs” even it it’s not in the form of a game. With all the moving parts of producing a normal game along with the addition of brand and film tie-ins, I’m sure there are a ton of people out there with some really juicy information. I’d love to see FFXV’s failures and successes all put together in one place someday as a documentary or a book. One of the very first snippets of information we heard about Versus XIII back when it was first revealed basically described it as an immersive sim. Where it would take place in the 1:1 scale “modern” city of Insomnia and have all kinds of logic systems and stuff. They wanted to mix high fantasy elements with a hyper-realistic and familiar game world, which is a really interesting idea and seemed to be one of their main pillars all throughout development, it just got less and less ambitious until we got the FFXV we know today.
Part of me thinks Forspoken was intended to be one of this game’s spin-offs considering how it also mixes Fantasy with a modern setting, and I feel the same about the little we’ve seen of KH4. It would be interesting to look into those games and see if we can extrapolate any details about what the completed FFXV would have entailed.

The story was heavily changed when Tabata took over, Nomura had a very different story which you can read as there are leaks. & it’s sort of a Tabata thing where the main character dies, examples being FFXV, FF Type-0 where everyone dies & then Crisis Core. I played the Pocket Edition, just to get an easy grasp of the story, and honestly, I think the way the story plays out in the original game (sans the novel) is much more emotionally powerful. Sure, it doesn't do the usual Final Fantasy thing, but to me, that's what makes it stand out so much in my mind.
Instead of defeating the evil, manipulative god in a "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" ending like usual, the whole thing plays out like a grand Greek tragedy.
Here's the briefest summary I can do: A good man, gifted with divine power and loved by the people for his deeds in service of them is betrayed by his brother to uphold his vision of what his kingdom should be. That man is wiped from history and replaced with a monster whom the world grows up to fear. That man is later brought back by an opposing nation, and sets out to topple his brother's false kingdom after learning he was supposed to rule. However, the leader of the gods stops him, and tells him that his suffering has all been preordained by his plan. This man stands before a god, the very god who blessed him with his powers and built him up only to make him suffer for his piety. He stands before a god and rejects his plan, his station, and everything he stands for. And he is punished for it.
Eventually brought back to Eos, he vows to become worse than the monster the gods intended him to become. He'll help fulfill their "plan". And then he'll kill their Chosen One right in front of them and laugh as they are forced to watch their grand design burn to the ground.
Unfortunately, despite his powers, he is still just a man. And in his dying breath he proclaims his hatred for his destined adversary, this kingdom founded on lies and atrocities, their crystal, their gods and everything they have been made to believe. And the world fulfills the gods' plan, unaware that they are merely pawns on a cosmic game board.
The original story of Final Fantasy XV, while it wasn't what a lot of people wanted, is distinctive, tragic, and it's fucking beautiful.
TL;DR: Final Fantasy XV has a beautiful story, and I will die on this hill. I personally reject the novel and the new ending, because it flies in the face of what the original story is trying to say.

Despite how much I hate the story pieces went all over the places, FFXV still have a piece in my heart. The entire story isn't bad at all to be honest, it just that they don't conclude everything in one game which they suppose to do in the first place as Final Fantasy is always a game story rather than numerous ridiculous spin offs. It's kinda remind me of Kingdom Hearts but at least they didn't release movie, anime, novel, beatem up genre, and dozens of dlcs.

The point of the ending of the main game is you got played by bahamut, dawn of the future the damage was still done to the cast of characters, but the dawn of the future ending is to get back at bahamut for playing them that entire time.
I wish you would explain more about what plot hole you're referring to, because to me it sounds like you're basically saying "oh if you're already losing or getting fucked over because you got tricked and you learn that you've been tricked this entire time, you should just say fuck it and keep going along with it anyway".
Everyone loves a good story where humans get a chance to defy the gods, especially stories in which the gods see humans as just mere play things, Bahamut wanted Ardyn dead because no human should ever match or succeed the power of a god. I think the Dawn of the Future doesn't cheapen the original game story, but showcased the manipulation of Bahamut. He crafted a worthy story of sacrifice and satisfied ending at the end, fulfilling his own prophecy that he spoke to his own oracle about. Because Bahamut pulled the strings of everything, the story seemed to make sense, but unnecessary cruel.
But Ardyn defied Bahamut in the "alternative" timeline. and it spiraled so much out of control that Bahamut tried to destroy the whole world AFTER Ardyn's defiance since his manipulation was now exposed and all of the characters' sacrifice became meaningless. That's why now all the characters united together to beat Bahamut.

Final fantasy 15 and suffering. Suffering and sacrifice is the main themes of ff15. The original ff15 ending and the characters sacrifice mean nothing. Bahamut will destroy the world after everything the characters have been through/done. There sacrifice would be pointless no matter what, they were all pawns. In the dawn of the future ending they could have kept the original happy ending with still having strong themes of suffering. Literally everyone has been through hell, the worse physical and emotional pain imaginable. They could have done a “scars of the past” type thing with ptsd or something else along those lines, I have a feeling they could have pulled that off incredibly well. The characters would all have there demons. Especially noctis and Luna, the cutscenes about that would have been amazingly emotional and profound. Alas it would never happen and we would never see it on screen. Dawn of the future is cannon even though we never get to see it. I prefer the dawn ending because while there sacrifices would be less impactful, they would live. In the og ending they all would die anyway because bahamut would just destroy everything, still making all their sacrifices void.
