HESH in war thunder is pretty much a joke, even though it is (irl) capable of shattering the internal/the other side of an armor plate through, it's literally just a reskinned HE round and acts just like standard HE would.
@Coen McCluskey Nothing to do with ricochet, the explosives flatten out against the armour surface to increase the area. This transmits maximum energy through the plate to create greater spalling in the cabin.

Fv4005 has only 183mm gun that's really small for ships it's fine for boats or destroyers . Normally ships have 200mm to 350mm guns on them those gun do alot of damage.
183mm gun is like small for a heavy cruisers it's very shot barrel gun , It's a tank killer . On battle ships they have long barrel large caliber guns like 200mm to 350mm those are made to sink ships

It's not small at all. Huge (10K-12K tons displacement) light cruisers of WW2 had 6in (150-155 mm) main guns. Destroyers were 1/5 to 1/4 size of the light cruisers, and only a few German ones had 6in guns, as it was considered too huge for destroyers. 183mm is definitely deadly even to the light cruisers, and should be problematic even for the heavy ones like Prinz Eugen. Barrel length is irrelevant at the distance used in this test.
Fun fact: that hit on Pola from the Aerial torpedo is quite similar to her irl fate. She ate a torpedo from a swordfish whilst practically stationary to avoid colliding with her sistership Zara. Both were sunk at the Battle of Cape Matapan
400 mm guns go boom Also yamato technically Exists in the game, but it is ai controlled. You can find it in a single mission called the last sail of the Yamato. You can also see it in Japanese naval test flight map
If you can penetrate the armor you can kill it given enough time and ammo. In custom matches with instant reload you can try this out with everything from WWII solid AP all the way to APFSDS
