I have the 10 gallon and 13 gallon co-op tanks. I love them. Aesthetically I like the look so much better than the rimmed tanks I replaced them with. They are a great value for the price. I agree they are not the quality of a UNS or ADA tank, but neither of those are an option for me because of the price. Also you cannot beat Co-op for exceptional customer service. I appreciate the fact that Cory makes this hobby affordable for so many of us and always stand behind their products.

I have a 10 gallon and I really like the curved corners, maybe because it's a different look. I think your point about the Coop brand is excellent. I also buy from them not just for the benefits that accrue to me, but because I want to be sure they stick around. It is rare any more to have the opportunity to support a company larger than a true Mom and Pop that does more than the least they possibly can in terms of customer service. They appear to be so much more humane in their business practices.

It’s not meant to be a two-piece lid. There is a groove on one side of that plastic lid that you push onto the piece of glass and makes it one piece.

Oh man, I think I gotta defend UNS a little bit lol That’s a very affordable tank for what you get, in my opinion. Some of which are cheaper than the big box store tanks and with UNS, you get 45 degree mitered corners, low iron and just about any shape or size you want. As a blue collar hobbyist, they’re definitely my go to company for a new tank and still be able to afford the electric bill at the end of the month. I’m digging the aquarium co-op tank! It has some heavy marineland vibes with that curved front. Looks pretty cool!

    • @anodyne.7024

Oh for sure, sorry I didn't mean to disparage uns. The shipping cost out to Seattle makes it pricey, unless bought in stores, and it still gets artificially inflated in prices just for being rimless ( not UNS problem) , but really i was grouping ADA as well...which IS Like double UNS pricing. Thanks for pointing that out

  • @MissMeganBeckett

Talking it down so much to start with and the first thing I thought when I saw it was, “ooh! Pretty!😍” I want one. I really like the way the edges of the glass looks blue. 5:06 actually not sure if I’d want that size or shape though, it’s not looking like it would be a size and shape that would be ideal for what I would like to keep, I like more water surface area to water depth ratio so I’ve been looking into what cubes and frag tanks are available with clear silicone seams because I like bettas and they prefer more surface swimming area over having very deep water and I like the look of clear silicone on blue edged glass, I do like having a bottom frame too because no bottom frame tanks seem to be finicky about which stand you use and I like using a glass lid even though it’s a big risk of breaking just because it’s very clear to let in light for the plants and it’s very easy to clean without risking scratching the finish and reducing the amount of light getting into the tank, but I would prefer a much more snug fitting lid without a giant hole in the middle of it ideally because I want to keep snails again soon and my last snail got out of the fish tank and I never found it.

    Shisho! Hope you're doing well!
I personally am not as much of a fan of those curved front tanks. I have an old I think it's PenPlax little 3g kitchen tank right behind my sink with shrimp and a group of Bororas uroptholmoides. It's an extra cleaning issue, at least with tanks that tend to algae-fy with natural light. I can scrape all my other natural light tanks, the little rimless Aqueon cube tanks, but this one I have to scrape up to a point and then get out the trusty toothbrush for the bent edge and corner. If you get a blade close to that curved edge it'll scratch for sure!
My take away is like you said, the aq co op tanks are the commuter car, one might say the prius of the aquarium world. 🤣✌️

Excellent review. You should look into the new Imagitarium Petco brand Shrimp & Aquatic Plants rimless tank kits. I just picked up the 6.8 Gallon shallow and am fairly impressed for the price I got it for. The light is growing my micro swords (no CO2 injection) grown with included full spectrum light and Imagitarium brand Japanese Volcanic substrate (stratum). My lilies and banana plant lillies and Frogbit concerned me with light intensity for the micro swords but it is getting through. I made quite the attractive little jungle for my female crown tail betta.

Looks like a pretty great deal to me. I have a couple of amtra tanks with curved edges and a similar lid, replaced mine with polycarbonate quickly (I like lids to reduce evaporation). Dennerle and fluval did the curved thing fir a while, I always assumed it was to avoid the green blue look of regular glass at the seams.

The large UNS and ADA tanks are 2 or 3 layers of glass held together in formation of the glass for flexibility using polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ionoplast. But the Infinate mirrors thing creates 2 or 3? Of those first optical layers...so I believe the coop glass Is a single piece and the other 2 tanks are 2 or 3 pieces fused into one.

I had no idea what I was doing, I was breeding guppies, and they did not look that good. Aquarium Co-op definitely has a loud voice in this industry for good reason. But I hope people need to see it for what it is. It's very low end aquarium equipment with English native speakers doing customer service.

I support Aquarium Co-op to a degree, I think their easy fry food is great and I love their brine shrimp eggs (best hatch rate I've found). Having said that, many of their recent products aren't for me. I'm a cheap man, Aqueon half price sale is the best bang for my buck, and I can go pick it up and not pay shipping and worry about broken glass. I also don't need their extremely expensive lights or air pumps. Likewise they have quality plants, but usually at at least twice what I can pay for the same plant from quality merchants. I just don't think the fact that its a Chinese import branded by co-op is worthy of any kind of loyalty from me. I have been curious about the tanks, so thanks for the review!

Damn that was such a negative tone throughout the review. I really don't understand it. Especially since every. Egative thing you found would then be compared to the rest of the market and you'd say it's the same or better than the other offerings. And what is this talk of "chinese product blah blah" in the other comments? Everything is manufactured in china guys. You couldn't afford it if it were made locally, or you'd opt for the cheaper option anyways, and that's the hard truth. Btw the bead on those looks lovely, I can't see a fault in these for the price, except for preferences, but those are not faults.

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  12 дней назад

I said as much, it's totally worth the price. But some people- myself included, WILL pay for custom manufacturing in the USA... BUT most hobbiests will not.
Also I think the review is getting criticism from people saying aquarium coop is paying me for the review ....and likewise folks like you, who think I'm trying to trash them.
So clearly there are some exterior biases involved in options here. If you notice my photos of Alabama, the EXACT tanks are 18 dollars for ALL 5 sizes... and only $13 Dollars if you buy 250+ units.
Meaning these tanks are literally worth a few dollars of materials, and a few more of shipping costs. However any videos claiming they did extensive research and development on this product line- or others for that matter, are a bit of a stretch. It's all generic Chinese stuff you may a couple extra dollars to die the color of your brand, or add features they offer in Shenzhen... but I don't blame cory at all... I blame American consumers.
