Hi, thank you for the video. I've tried to replace a battery for a similar b&o a2 active and the device stopped charging - I really like my speaker so if you could offer any thoughts on how to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Essentially just changing the battery shouldn't have effected usability with both new and old batteries ( the old one kep a 2 hour charge)
Hi, Thank you for watching the video and reaching out! I’m sorry to hear about the issue with your A2 Active speaker. You’re right-replacing the battery shouldn’t normally affect the usability, so let’s troubleshoot the problem: 1. Check the Battery Connection: Ensure the new battery is securely connected, and the contacts are clean and free of debris. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent charging. 2. Inspect the Charging Port: Verify that the charging port is clean and functional. Dust or wear in the port can cause charging issues. 3. Reset the Speaker: Try performing a reset on the A2 Active by holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds. This can sometimes resolve software-related glitches. 4. Battery Compatibility: Ensure the replacement battery matches the original specifications. Using an incompatible battery might cause charging problems. 5. Test the Old Battery: If the old battery still holds a charge, reconnect it to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem lies with the new battery or elsewhere in the device. 6. Inspect the Internal Circuitry: If the above steps don’t work, the issue could be with the internal power management system, possibly caused during the replacement process. If none of these steps resolve the issue, I’d recommend consulting a professional technician experienced with Bang & Olufsen products. Let me know if you need further assistance, and I’ll do my best to help.

@@KoseTrading Thank you so much for your very quick and detailed response:) I'm very grateful. 1. As far as I see it looks fine- I've switched between the old and new batteries a few times with different cables and power supplies and got no response from the speaker (the part below the b&o details sticker gets warm from connecting to a power supply). 2. I've had a look with a flash light and it looks ok. It worked well enough prior to my attempt to change batteries- though I think it usually took a moment for the charging light to turn on. 3. Following your advice I tried it but as the speaker probably has no power supply getting to it, this may be impossible (regrettably I haven't recharged the old battery before attempting the change so it is empty). 4. The battery I bought was described to be a good fit for the speaker but there are some differences the new battery's model is J406/ICR 18650-2S 7.2V 18.72Wwh 2600mAh(original battery model being J406 2S1P/ICR18650-22F-2S 7.2V 15.84Wh 2200mAh). 5. I have tried this and got no response. 6. I'm not sure how to go about this but if you could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. 7. I'm currently traveling quite a bit in the next couple of months so I'll probably only be able to get it to a technician in a couple of months so if can't solve it I'll probably need to get a replacement for the duration- it would be really nice to get tithe speaker to work without getting a new speaker. Thank you so much for everything.
Based on the details you've shared, it seems like you're troubleshooting an issue with a speaker that is not powering on after a battery replacement. Here's a detailed response addressing each point: 1. **No Response from the Speaker**: The speaker getting warm when connected to a power supply suggests that power is reaching the unit, but it might not be distributed correctly. This could indicate an issue with internal connections, the charging circuit, or the battery compatibility. 2. **Visual Inspection**: Since it worked previously and there’s no visible damage, it’s worth double-checking that the new battery is properly seated and all connections are secure. Sometimes, even slight misalignment can disrupt functionality. 3. **Old Battery Not Recharged**: Without a charged old battery, it's challenging to confirm whether the issue lies with the speaker itself or the new battery. If possible, you could try charging the old battery externally (using a compatible charger) to test the speaker. 4. **Battery Model Differences**: The new battery has a slightly higher capacity (2600mAh vs. 2200mAh) and power rating (18.72Wh vs. 15.84Wh), which generally should be compatible. However, minor differences in the battery’s physical dimensions or connector types could cause issues. Verify that the battery's connector type, voltage (7.2V), and polarity match the original battery exactly. 5. **No Response After Testing**: If there’s still no response after verifying the above, the problem might lie with the speaker's power management system or a damaged component from the battery replacement attempt. 6. **Next Steps for Diagnosis**: - Check the battery contacts and ensure they are clean and secure. - If you have access to a multimeter, test the voltage output of the new battery to ensure it’s functioning. - Inspect the internal wiring or solder joints near the battery terminals for any loose or broken connections. - Consider contacting the seller of the battery to confirm its compatibility with your specific speaker model. 7. **Temporary Replacement While Traveling**: If you can’t resolve the issue before traveling, a temporary replacement might be the most practical solution. Portable and affordable speakers are widely available and could serve as a stopgap until your current speaker can be repaired. If you're comfortable with basic electronics, you could attempt further diagnostics or repairs. Otherwise, seeking help from a technician when convenient would be the safest option. Let me know if you'd like additional guidance on any of the steps!

@@KoseTrading Thank you so much for taking the time and the detailed instructions- as I'm not home I have limited access to tools so some of these checks will need to wait - the basics of having a look at integrity/cleanliness, trying different batteries, cables, charging sources I have done but the rest I will either need some more/new tools for or get a technician to try and repair the speaker.
You're welcome! It's great to hear you've already gone through the basics. When you have access to the right tools or a technician, it should be easier to diagnose and resolve the issue. If you have any updates or run into specific challenges, feel free to reach out-I’ll be happy to help further.
just changed the battery and then the product indication light turned green & the charging indicator light didn't light up even though it was plugged in 😭
