The talented and beautiful actress, Helene Stanton, who played the woman held hostage was the real-life mother of Dr. Drew Pinsky, a TV and radio star in his own right. Classic line from the bad guy in this episode that so aptly describes mid-fifties America: "Everybody's got to be so heroic these days." The United States had been involved in wars in nine of the previous fifteen years, having fought in WW2 and Korea. I was born the year this episode was made and I can tell you that men were fundamentally tougher and braver then! In addition to creating a generation of brave men who didn't complain about every little thing, our involvement in those two wars in such close succession created a generation of men who were able to function well in an organized hierarchy, helping to make post war America so successful.
Helene Stanton aka Eleanor Stansbury was my neighbor growing up in the "Strawberry Mansion" neighborhood of North Philly. I was an infant when she left for Hollywood back in 1946. She had a great trained operatic voice, and play the piano. She was my older sister's piano teacher. She had a knock out body, beautiful face as my mother described. I facilitated a phone call between her at age 88 and my sister. They enjoyed the 15 minute conversation which was the first time they spoke since 1947. My sister passed at age 84 this year. RIP Ladies!

Can't believe Dan didn't spot the abandoned convertible.
This place is 'crawling with dynamite.' 'Crawling'?
Helene Stanton had a dynamite figure and she ended up the ground at least once, thus her dynamite figure was crawling all over the place.
@@paulmentzer7658 hahahah oh yea...Its funny how we have used words for years then.......How did that one start Crawling with bugs mabey ?
@@heyoldman2003 I think crawing is from the Infrantry, since at least WWI, Infrantry tend to crawl in combat as opposed to standing upright. If you are near the ground, it is harder for bullets to hit you and with modern breech loading rifles, you can load your weapon while crawing on the ground.
👍🏼 I love the old stuff. I can’t relate to today anymore 😎
Who does a stickup with a rifle?
