Hello everyone, welcome back, to the third installment of Guts and Blackpowder: The Story Explained. Today we go over the newest update of Guts & Blackpowder and how it ties into the story, what it tells us about the lore, and how we take a part in this world of hopelessness and despair. Guts and Blackpowder is a game taking place during the Napoleonic Wars with the undead zombie masses rising from the ground. A group of survivors must hold out against the horde, only armed with muskets and swords

@@TophatKing306I understand, it's really hard not to piss on the French as a british person.
Here's a fact: in 1565, Spanish forces colonized the Philippines up until 1898.
Which means at the time of the Napoleonic War, if the blight somehow reached the Philippines, the Spanish are forced to make a temporary halt in colonization and have to recruit Filipinos. But since the game is revolved around Europe, There is a very low possibility that Cebu (The first Spanish-Filipino interaction and battle) or the Cagayan Valley (Northernmost Part of Luzon) are the maps.
with the abundance of christians in the philippines in that era and the geography it would be difficult for the blight to take over
I would highly speculate that if they are going make maps in the Philippines, there are chances that the maps might be somewhere in Mindanao more specifically the most southern part because of Muslim culture thriving and surviving there(but thats just my false speculation if they do something like that)
@@mrpotatomanowq9079 a city in mindanao is the perfect place for a g&b map, it could be a endless map or an objective map with the end either being the philippine and spanish armies escaping or holding off the zombies until a whole fleet or massive army arrives to clean up the zombies.

A G&B spinoff or well made inspired game set around the time of the Spanish-American War (1898-99) would be a fun way to have places like the Philippines. Spanish troops, US Marines and Philippine Rebels could be the factions.
Fun history fact the US Marines got their first nickname “Leathernecks” because during the Barbary Wars they wore leather collars around their necks to protect from Pirate Sabers, I wonder if it would also help against bites?
Like how a zombie grabs from behind and dosent do damage since the leather around the neck?

Fun fact:In Berezina,there’s one transporting wagon for like royalties and in that wagon is Napoleon.
Wait, does that mean that the person who froze to death in the burnt down wagon in the map (near the church) is Napoleon or is Napoleon on the wagon that gives us logs to build the bridge?

@@EnderDoomSlayer I think Napoleon is in one of The three wagons that crossed The Berezina bridge, as a time after that (on The timeline), it is said on a newspaper in Hougomount that Napoleon did a temporarily truce with Great Britain because of The blight and The menace it presents to society as they knew it back Then.
So, Napoleon is alive. He just crossed The bridge of Berezina, and probably won't be in The carriage that gives us logs as The back space is full of logs, not having space for The emperor, so he's definitively i'm one of The other two wagons that crossed, probablemente the middle one as the one infront is risking attacks since it's position, and the middle's backed by rear and front guard (carriages), so it would be a better position to protect The emperor.

I've been dreaming that for quite sometime, also creating some characters for the movie
I mean, there is already like 50 movies already on zombies, if G&B had a movie or series it would just be a napoleonic themed, a little more interesting one of them.

Since lore wise hell is full and zombies are just dead people who were unable to go into hell there is a chance that the zombies you kill try to enter hell but since its still full they arrise somewhere else so i think it would make sense that the blight is unstoppable. And since heaven and hell exist there is a small percentage of chance that God is hearing the prayers of people and might try to help out hummanity to fight off the blight.
Another theory is that God might be punishing hummanity for causing so much death durring the napoleonic wars and thats all.

My personal theory is that the blight is just a regular disease, but since hell is full catching the disease and dying to it would cause you to essentially become a diseased walking corpse.

Good theory. But it wouldn't make sense as if it were a normal disease, you would only need a scratch from the zombies to infect you instantly. But instead, it's only viral via bites. It's your regular zombie virus. But the cool thing about this disease is that it needs exactly four bites for it to start the infection process and Priests are completely immune to the Blight virus. So if you're Christian, then you're basically completely immune.

in my opinion, Guts & Blackpowder represents the world vs humanity's constant ignorance and selfishness.
The zombies would represent the world, and humanity is represented by the players.
This situation is represented once you enter a match with your fellows, even though the world is ending, even though there are thousands upon thousands of zombies waiting up ahead, resources running low, even after all the zombies (the world) have thrown at you, humanity keeps going, desperately trying to break open a door that, no matter how many times it is kicked, it'll never open. This also kind of relates at how most G&B matches are lost, solidifying the fact that humanity is too ignorant or selfish, or both, to understand to stop trying, they are shown time and time again, that what they are trying to do will not work out, yet they keep colliding with the wall, they keep bashing their heads against the barrier that is represented by the zombies.
These fellas amount to a bunch of things, they together form the world itself, nature, animals, planet earth. But more specifically, things that directly interact with human beings, things like struggles, dreams, tragedies, memories, all of these combined represent existence's, you could call it, "opinion" on humanity.
But this truth is not absolute, because for every ten matches lost in G&B, one is won. Because human ignorance, and human determination are seperate things, there's a difference in between bashing your head against a wall and continuing after it doesn't work, and bashing your head against a wall, but not desperately sticking to the same method of getting through your problem, and thinking outside the box, going around the wall, climbing it, etc.
This really encapsulates humanity as a whole, we push and we push, but until we understand the problem and ourselves, our hubris will get in the way and trip us over again and again and again. Once we understand the mangitude of things, the value of others and ours, is truly when we, different but together, can win san sebastian without anyone dying.

Theory:The Blight’s origin was in southern Georgia,specifically at Akhaltsikhe,The reason why the blight spread throughout Europe because a Russian invasion led by Gudovich at Akhaltsikhe failed and retreat to Akhalkalaki,there will be possibly infected men that successfully retreated to Akhalkalaki turn into zombies and begin spreading the blight throughout the town,When the process was still going on,A Turkish attack on Akhalkalaki occured,Akhalkalaki would be like a endless gamemode map but with Ottoman forces and the cannibals attacking at the same time,Gudovich is likely to lose.

Aw, I was hoping the Blight goes international (*cue Pittbull International Love*) in the Philippines colony as it shows that the Blight is spreading not just in Europe but also to it's colonies showing that none and nothing is safe from the Blight, and a three-way battle between the Undead, Spanish garrisons, and the Philippine revolutionaries would be interesting
from what i read, i doubt that the blight would reach philippines due to it being a catholic country considering that the blight is christianity's hell plague. but i guess it'd be cool to see a philippine revolution with the blight as philippines back then is kinda limited to firearms and it could be really challenging.

@@Opezaculous Did a little research and found out that the blight might be able to reach the Philippines. Since Spain colonized the Philippines during 1565 to 1898. So maybe if Spain becomes overrun with the blight, then they could maybe retreat to the Philippines? maybe even bringing along some infected? Its an interesting idea but it would be very fun to play as Filipino Soldiers since they didn't have guns and would be very challenging.
@Blazerrod17 as a filipino and a g&b fan its true that it will be challenging cuz our weapons were limited cuz of spanish rule. Maybe there could be an objective map in Manila and there could be a spanish ship that crashed there and was full of infected which then rapidly spread to manila and evacuate all the citizens (like in catacombs) while spanish forces and Philippine revolutionarys team up and make barricades and cover them with cannons. Honestly it would be cool to see other maps than just in europe
My theory is the blight started as a disease and then when enough people were infected it started its second phase the blight but hey that’s just a theory a GAME THEORY

Tyrol is Austrian, during the Napoleonic Wars it was annexed to the Kingdom of Bavaria who were allied to Napoleon. The Austrian peasants rose up led by Andreas Hofer against the occupying Bavarians having some victories but Napoleon eventually gave the order to execute him, after a fair trial.

Ever since I started playig Guts & Blackpowder and watching your RUclips series, there was this thing going on inside my head. What if Guts & Blackpowder had an anime? Like an actual one, complete with voice actors (Japanese, English & Multilingual dub), fully animated, soundtracks, etc. I literally have an entire 10~12ish episode anime of that playing on my head, and I can imagine how the anime adaptations of certain scenes of that game would go. Anyways, thank you for making these series of videos, love your work!

Something that I'd love to see at some point is a map in Alaska, as (to my memory) Alaska at the time is within Russian possession, and is only 2 miles away from mainland Russia. I think it'd actually be really interesting to fight in the harsh weather, whilst supplies are low. Maybe not a canon map, but lore implement could be that zombies started to wash up on the shore, or some fleeing boat was unknowingly carring the disease, as the were in a panic fleeing to Alaska, as its close, but blocked by cold water (they'd probably would've forgotten or didnt know that the cold doesn't bother the blight). But the idea of standing on a snowy hill, with the cold wind mimicking fog and just staring out into the cold, and seeing decaying figures come out from the wind is genuinely scary.

Saw you had some pronunciation problems, so figured I’d chime in to help you in the future. The end of Osterreicher is pronounced somewhat like bike, but with an r instead, so “Oster-rike” Württemburg is “Were-tem-berg” or “borg” depending on which you prefer, and Jäger, whom were basically just skilled hunters/riflemen in Germanic nations, is pronounced like “Ya-gur”. Great video just like the last ones! Glad someone is doing in depth tellings of it.

You should mention the fact that hougomont, ligny, la hay saint and kaub are all connected to the newspaper in hougomont and the maps show the attack’s failure most likely being defeated in Waterloo (La hay saint and hougomont) But that’s just a theory.

(oh yeah and on a South Korean Zombie film, Rampant actually is a good SK film, showing a Zombie plague happening in the time of Muskets and swords being used and the Plague having a Parasite worm as they have to be dipped into a water bucket, for that worm to get out. the year in Rampant is Different this is during the Dynasty Kingdoms, from Korean, Japan. (not on the Mainland. since these are island places. the Undead doesnt come out at Day which is an impressive foreshadowing and having them come out during Night. and Running aswell.
The village down the mountain was not Hougoumont nor La Haye Sainte, Those two are located in Belgium, not Bavaria.

There was a period of time when the brits invaded Philippines Manila, could be an interesting map since as stated in your notes the Philippines wont be affected due to heavy Christian influence.

make a new one since they dropped a new objective map called Copenhagen and Vardohus Fortress has a second mode (Endless) also theres the first non-zombie enemy is the Brig-Sloop crew, bombing Copenhagen, To defeat them, you need to pass through a bridge via a small boat, and take a boat with the Danish flag on it and sail out of Copenhagen, but to sail out of the city, you need to destroy the Brig-Sloop ship, blocking the exit, to destroy it, use a cannon in the boat (Copenhagen is based of the Battle of Copenhagen)

Great video. I'd love to see how thing would develop with G&B lore. From the looks of things the Mediterranian part of Europe seems to be fine for the most part. Maybe its because the Blight isn't very heat resistant. Well we shall see (Feel free to correct me)

the tyrolean village looks to be inspired by the painting "Homecoming of Tyrolean Militia" by Franz Defregger in terms of design and general shape of the village
me and a friend looked for a while for anything that resembles the village to no avail, but chalked it up to being inspired by the works of Franz Defregger
