- RCR unveiled its Southern 500 partner and paint scheme - Toys for Tots - but before the event got going, Richard Childress had a message to send to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. He said if Ricky touches the 8 car at Charlotte, he'll personally whoop Ricky's ass.
The number three should have been retired basically the day The man himself passed away except for when jr drove the 3

The 3 was Childress before Dale Sr came along. I get not sticking Harvick in the 3 just days after Dale passed, but I also get bringing the number back. Just wish it was with a better driver.

If he wouldn't have been protecting the lead for the two cars that were ahead of him, maybe the crash wouldn't have been as bad or wouldn't have never happened at all
@hotwheelscrazy2.o371 The racing is significantly better than it was 20 years ago. The real problem with Dale is that he refused to wear a full-face helmet and a HANS device. Both were widely available. I was racing with a full face helmet in the 70's and 80's! The crash broke his neck because of the sudden stop. A head and neck restraint would have taken care of that.
It's beyond sad, but it takes people getting killed for new safety measures to take place.
We lost Scott Kalitta a multi-time world champion, because of a mechanical failure that made it impossible for him to stop his 330 mph Funny Car. NHRA came to grips with the fact that the cars had simply gotten way too fast for the tracks, most of which were built when 250 mph was barely a reality.
Now NHRA races the fuel cars to 1000 ft, instead of the traditional 1320. That extra 320 feet is a nice margin of safety. Be that as it may, there are still people who complain it isn't "real racing" and want to go back. Which ain't happening.
We all miss Dale, Scott, and everyone else, but they wouldn't want racing to end because they did.

@@azb2605 This is the way racing is, whether on a local level or on the professional level. When Larson can out qualify seasoned veterans, don't tell me all these drivers got there thru their talent. NASCAR is the same. Still, unlike you, Austin is in a race car!

Dale was the only thing good for him in racing. Austin Dillon hasn’t done a thing. Harvick won some races, but as soon as he left Childress, he won a championship.

currently the 3 car is 31st in points, the 8 car 13th.thats ALL kyle. RCR needs to step up their game.why pay for kyles expertise when they cant give him a car to do what they hired him to do? if he was in a hendrick car, he be giving larson & hamlin a run for their money about every race.
Kyle was even the points leader at one point. He would definetly win about 5+ races a year in Hendrick equipment.
