    I used to own a Qashqai (generation before yours, 12 plate). My mum passed away last year and that was her favourite car. I've not seen that car since our motability lease ended in Jul 2015 but yesterday, dropping a mate off at their house, I saw it parked up outside their neighbours, that license plate has stuck with me for the last 6 years and I just saw it, parked up at the side of the road.
    Probably not all that interesting but it was cool for me to see, especially with it being her favourite car we've ever had.

      Nice. It's weird seeing cars from your past again isn't it? Nice to see them still on the road!
      I often see my old Honda CRZ and Ford Fiesta running about.

    Interesting video but the first thing we bought was a jack and a spare wheel as I just couldn't drive around with a mini compressor and a bottle if tyre sealant which will render a repairable tyre irreparable. A full size wheel fits in nicely and I'm confidently driving arond now. Oh, and the bottle in our 2014 car went out of date in 2017.
    Kpa means Kilopascal. 100kpa = 1bar.
    I'm finding your videos really useful, thanks.

    Another great helpful video, cheers. I collected my Qashqai today and am very pleased with it. Little bit nervous with it being a literal step up from our Fiesta. We decided, having difficulties getting in and out of it, to go for something easier -and much comfier as it turns out- to get in and out of. It wallows a bit round bends, roundabouts but once I adjust to the differences I won't even notice it, as I slow down a bit. Biggest change is the size of the fuel tank. Maximum cost for the Fiesta -I never let it get too low, not in the red- was about £40 a tank. The Qashqai had about 60 miles worth in there and cost £59 to fill it up. Gave a range of over 400 miles. Used to get around 448 on average from the 1.0 Fiesta Zetec S. What a change. Very happy so far.

      I did the same last year. I got my space saver spare wheel and tyre kit from The Wheel Shop online. Was easy to match up the correct spare to the car and 19” tyre size. Cost me £179

      @@chadfacultad3090 I had to take the plastic mould out that contained the tools, then the wheel fitted together with tools around it including a jack and crowbar. The wheel was raised slightly above the compartment but the covers still fitted on top, although slightly proud of their original position. The second set of covers then fitted meaning the useful space between the wheel and the boot floor was still usable.

  • @flipper2392

    I can tell from experience that if you get a puncture @70mph on a road with no safe stopping places, the tyre repair kit is as much use as a box of wet matches. Plus, most breakdown insurances insist you have a servicable spare wheel.

    Just bought a brand new Qashqai NMotion and still trying to get my head around it all. Found this very helpful so many thanks. Still uneasy about no spare wheel as this is the first car I have owned without one. Dealer tells me if I use the bottle to fill the tyre then I need a new tyre? Which is not great if you are unlucky to have 2 or 3 punctures in a year! So couple of questions for you: if I buy a space saver wheel for my 19” wheels, what size can I get away with other than 19”. Also if I fit the space saver into the boot space provided do I need to buy a different foam insert as I can’t see how yours would fit into the gap provided if a wheel was there? Many thanks.

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  3 года назад

      I think there is a official Nissan space saver you can get, but it means you have to have the boot floor raised.
      Yes if you use the foam then the tyre needs replacing asap.

    I just bought a 2018 qashqai last month it's my first qashqai as well and love it. Brilliant helpful video and great tips also on what different things and fittings are actually for as well.
    My car originally came with no spare wheel and same kit/spec mobility fittings as yours in video. I have since got a spacesaver wheel, jack, wrench etc from same garage and put them in boot where original mobility polystyrene fitting was screwed into. I tried putting the original fitting that holds all the bits and pieces back on top of spacesaver wheel and re-fitting floor cover and 2 panels but now floor is not even its too high and panels don't sit flat anymore? So basically my question is do I now no longer really need the original mobility polystyrene fitting, as I would rather have a spacesaver wheel and jack instead. So if they both don't fit neatly in place together should I just bin the original polystyrene fitting as it serves no purpose really now? Any advice please mate? Thanks. 😊👍

      Not really, mines quite noisy at speed, deffo wind noise from the wing mirrors, but my roof bars probably don't help!
      Soundproofing wise you could put some acoustic mats in the door cards if you wanted to go down that avenue.

    does anyone know where to find the tool insert for the spare wheel? i have the pump insert like this one but i am proficient enough with replacing a wheel that i would rather have a spare wheel to be honest, fortunatly i have not yet had a flat tire ever since i bought my car.

    Great stuff. Thanks again.
    Do you or anyone else know if all Nissan space saver tires are R16? It seems that way.
    My normal wheels/ tires are R19 so it seems like quite a big difference. Even though the spare is only a get you out of trouble. My local tire shop said he thought R16 would be too small !?!?
    I am looking for a space saver as I’m not personally that keen on the gel option.
    Thanks.

      Maybe at some point something has been spilled in the boot causing it to stick, no real reason to remove the whole thing anyway really.
      As for the tow hook, I'm not certain but I think they're all the same thread size so something like this should work - amzn.to/31OPCBC

    I assume that tyre pressure monitors are mandatory in the UK too? If it is i would probably advise against using this kit. They say that it might damage the sensor and now you have to get a new tyre as well as a new sensor. Better to use one of those tyre cement punch kits(don't know the exact name) and then use the kompressor without the bottle to pump it up afterwards.

    • @crazyroynewman
      @crazyroynewman 2 года назад

      these new vehicles don't have sensors in the tyre valve..the computer works out the rolling circumference of the tyre to measure it's inflation diameter..

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  2 года назад

      There's a mix of both. VAG cars tend to use the wheel speed type.

      @@crazyroynewman Direct TPMS is certainly still used in a lot of new cars. And if the Qashqai is like the Pulsar(and they're pretty much the same car with different body types) then it has direct TPMS.
