I have seen this movie several times because it’s the best topper movie they made. Billie Burke is so funny and so good in this movie! The complete cast is absolutely brilliant.
I do love the first Topper, but Billie Burke really shines in this one.
Great movie, Joan Blondell's career spanned several decades, but she never failed to deliver!! 👍👍

The War was right around the corner, a great cast, and a light, goofy plot. In context this movie is a piece of history. And we should see it as this. I mean Zucco, H.B. Warner, Blondell, Roland Young, the great Eddie (Rochester) Anderson, already an established star from the Jack Benny Show, Cabin in the Sky, The Green Pastures, Billie Burke the former Mrs. Ziegfield and Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz.
This movie is a treasure!! Dig!
I must've seen this at least ten times since I first watched it on TV as a child in the '50s, but it's still just as hilarious as ever. Brilliant screenplay, brilliant acting by everyone, beautiful special effects, great directing! Billy Burke can make me laugh by simply calling out 'Topper', as she does when she spies him sitting in the freezer, but all the actors here were perfect. Thank you!

This is gorgeous! Has anyone else seen "I married a witch" which also played around with very good special effects and was fun. Such a pity films like this aren't made any more.

Thorne Smith, who dreamed up the "Topper" stories, worked for an ancient New York City advertising agency. Many many years later I worked for the same ad agency -- and occupied the same desk used by Thorne Smith! (No -- no evidence of Mr Smith's occupancy...except that, on occasion, a desk drawer would open by itself!)

Rochester is absolutely priceless in this, hysterical "Do I look as pale as I feel?". Love this movie but still my favorite is Topper the original. 😁🍿✨

Billie Burke - always flash back to her as Glenda the Good Witch (Wizard of Oz), and until recently didn't understand the additional attributes shown in subsequent roles as a comedic actress. Her unmistakable voice, as well as comedic timing, are to be treasured as part of the Golden Years of Hollywood.
Billie was married to the Great Ziefield. she was a totally7 different person in real life.

Love Billie Burke she was silly but funny actress and play in any movie if she wanted to and knock her performances out of the park. We don't have actresses like this anymore and what a shame we don't.
I think she's in THE CHEATERS, an amazing CHRISTMAS movie with a stellar plot, hardly noticed at Christmas time

I love old movies. The days when filth and blatant sexuality did not not hit you over the head, Rochester is wonderful. Billie Burke Hilarious. Roland Young is my favorite Topper. This is a great movie for Fall.

Just delightful with a outstanding cast. All played their roles to the fullest.

@@suburbohemian George's car in the first film had a streamline design and a big fin on the rear. To my taste it didn't look as good as the car in this movie.

What a great movie. A talented cast for a ghostly who-done-it with the ever so humble Roland Young involved with another ghost in Joan Blondell. Add my favorite "Good Witch of the North" Billie Burke, the best black actor of that period in Eddie "Rochester" Anderson and a missing body and it all added up to one superb black and white movie that was fun to watch. I enjoyed the 1936 540K Mercedes and the 1935 Packard Super 8. Really great autos. There was also a 1937 Buick Century Bohman & Schwartz used.
That is when cars were as beautiful as jewelry, "worn" as an accessory just as a diamond necklace & diamond ring, showing one's status in life & a symbol of the owner's personality & aesthetic appreciation for the artful body design of the magnificent car.
Cars of that era were art in motion.
Truly functional art.

I loved the part where the cab driver tells the policeman to break the glass and instead of breaking the glass on the freezer he drops a glass.
Have watched this numerous times.....have fun each time. Arsenic & Old Lace is another one.

What a wonderful film. It makes all the current superhero films look awful.
At least the acting is energetic and these people are allowed to rip through their moronic characters. And these old people are pretty damned athletic and sturdy, wouldn't we say? Eddie Rochester must have been a great sport for having to endure these cheap shots at his race. In fact the entire film is cheap shot at all the races especially the whites who are portrayed as stumbling, bumbling incompetents of leisure.

Carol Landis was good in this but Joan Blondel was incredible, I love her films and would like to see more.

Where could I find a film starring Billie Burke & Cary Grant??? Please won't someone respond. This lockdown 4 me is totally old, sorry & depressing!!!!!!! You see, I've been locked down since ( I do hope that u are sitting down now).. since the end of October, year 2018, I got home, to my home (crap) home just in time for holloween!!! & Also, Thanksgiving. How I do totally adore, appreciate these film's. It is my go to film whenever I'm feeling down or sad. I so agree with all of the fine comments!!!!!!! God, may he bless all of us. I know that I am nothing but a dot ::::: on this globe, & after I've seen & lived life as it is, I can only pray that whenever I shall depart, that life shall continue on: however, much more respectful to others!!! I think Billie Burke, who played Mrs. Topper, played her shinning best as Glenda, the "Good Witch of the North" in the "Wizard of Oz." In that role, she was sweet & wise, not a silly "air-head blond" as the clueless Mrs. Topper.
What a high, child-like, innocent voice Billie Burke had.

@@ginaharrison5560 She had a wonderful presence on screen, didn't she? I respect a well played air-head blonde, it often takes a lot of skill to pull off. A lot of comedy's great dizzy dames had much more in the brains department than they got credit for.

It was a quirk that we even got this one. The studio failed to renew the copyright within the 28th year after publication and the movie went into public domain. I feel sure they didn't make that same mistake with the other two Topper films...if only they had (sigh)...

@@dontaylor7315 , I found all three for free on YT, and watched the second, Topper Takes a Trip” this morning. Constance, Roland & Billie are in it, but they used archive footage for the tiny bits of Cary Grant (I guess he wasn’t available).
