  • Stephanie Miller is a turkey farmer from Wayland. Along with her husband Josh and four boys, the family raises and markets 48,000 turkeys each year. They are passionate about caring for the livestock and turning challenges into opportunities.
In this virtual farm tour, Stephanie takes you inside a modern brooder barn to see two-week-old turkey poults and a grow out barn to with 10-week-old turkeys. You’ll learn how farmers use technology every day to regulate barn temperature, air flow, feed and water use, and to monitor turkey health.
    About the Virtual Learning Series

Back in the 60s thru 90s my grandparents raised domestic whites for Armor. We'd walk the brooder houses every morning, looking for the croop and dead, swab out the water troughs, check for clogged pans. But the one thing I remember most vividly is after working their 18. 150 yard long houses is at night no where near those houses you could still them cheeping in your head as you lay down to sleep

Im surprised you werent wearing a mask. Those turkeys were running up to bite you. I work on a turkey farm the older they gét thé meaner. They have no problem eating eachother. I pet them as they follow me pecking at my boots or fingers looking for deads. We use the litter getter and clean the beds. Its too expensive for chips over poop. The litter gathered is sold so its not wasted. Hope you guys do well. Its a fowl buisness :)
