Calling this a hit and run is presumptuous.... They guy or girl probably did not even know they hit her.
He or she knows now and still isn't coming forward. More likely the person was drunk and does know.
It's sad that most of the comments are blaming the girl. It's possible that the boat driver didn't care and went through a no boat zone. You would be surprised at how many people think it's not that big a deal to get hit by a boat even though there are metal blades under the boat spinning really fast. I have heard people say the boat will push them out of the way with the waves. I've had to be the voice of reason and get them to understand it's possible for them to go under the boat and get hit by the propeller.
So she was wakeboarding in a no boat zone? You know what wakeboarding is right? You get towed by.... A boat.

If she was close to her boat and was hit the operator of the boat that hit her is an unsafe moron but if she was 30- 40 feet away they may not even know they hit her.
When your boat is up on plane, the bow is high and it's possible they did not see the poor kid.

You should check all rentals. It was probably a drug dealer pulling a Rasheed Rice routine and left the scene. Two to four outboards then they were going way to fast for the location. A 15 yo would have been inside the no wake buoys.

Probably not. Half of them don't. Both parties were most likely drinking. The hit and runner may not even know. Especially if they had a long rope. Gets busy in that area. People think they own the water. Sad but good question. Who knows.
They were water skiing! You don't carry flags around for skiing you carry flags for SCUBA! She probably got dumped and they were coming around to pick her up for another go. Its required to have a spotter via FL law as well. It was probably the spotter that was the witness that saw the actual hit that killed her.
Why would a young 15 year old girl or any one be boarding out where the boats are running?
Every boat should be carrying an orange flag to hold up if someone is in the water. Did they not have a flag? Or didn’t the boat that hit the girl ignore an orange flag?

@@bustedloads9045 WTF was she doing? Skiing or boarding.. I gotta listen to this. Ok she was surfboarding meaning she had a board attached to her feet but it wasn't skis. They would NOT have a flag. Those are used for SCUBA when divers are down. A spotter is required though if you're being pulled by any kind of tow rope. The boat that hit her hasta be aware that they hit something. They had speed on probably drunk. That family is filthy rich they need to put a mil on this driver's head I mean WTF are they thinking?
