These mechs really are at their best when it’s of a character who would actually have one

In fairness I think it doesn't matter too much to the kids, mechs are just rad to play with. I do like the idea of a paranoid sleep deprived Batman cooking up a contingency protocol for 'what if Gundam was real' though, lol

You mean you don't remember in Empire when Vader was like, "Join me Luke. The Empire has mechs" and then Luke and Vader took on Palpatine in their giant robot suits? I'm just surprised they haven't given the Emperor his iconic mech yet

As someone whose Lego purchases when I was younger were the canister Bionicle sets, these mech designs, especially when character appropriate, are absolutely fabulous to see. I’ve got War Machine and Batman set on a list to pick up at some point, and contemplating toying with their design, the Ninjago Mechs, and the new Surtur to try and find what else I can do.

This looks like such a fun lil set. When they first started these mech thingies I didn’t like em, but the more recent ones have made lots of small improvements they look quite good for what they are, and seem like a toy I would love as a kid

Nice toy. The low price gives us the chance to get two sets to make one bulked up version for a greater look and more flexibility, concerning knee joints etc.

With the new turnable waist and cape/wing thing, I'm tempted to get one just to upgrade the Vader mech.

I find it entertaining that people are still complaining about these mechs, this is Lego, not normal toys. If you don't like said toy, you can build it into something else. I've never received a Lego set and said "oh this one is bad" or "ugh I already have this one" because I build it, get bored of it, take it apart, and later build something else out of it. If it was permanently a mech then sure they're a bit weird, but it really doesn't matter what Lego releases as a set. I think the mechs are a welcome idea and they're apparently the closest thing we're getting to Bionicle, so they have a place on the market. There is nothing wrong with these mechs, although I do prefer the large ball joints and elbow/knee articulation, again it's Lego, and if one has those parts there's nothing stopping you from improving the set yourself. Lego sets are the starting point, not the end goal. Lego's job is to release part packs and inspire people, they don't make normal toys.

They could make it work if they were more creative than mech is a bigger version of the character. Like for Superman make his mech out of the JL’s Javelin, have Wonder Woman’s mech be her invisible jet, do a light construct for Green Lantern.

this is a cool design, but I liked these mechs way better when they had articulation in the elbows and knees. They allowed so much more freedom for cool poses. This prebent piece for legs and arms seems like a lazy solution.

It took lego WAY to long to make any dc mechs at all. Maybe this is a step in seeing cooler characters get mechs but in all likelihood, it will just be more batmam mechs and MAYBE a joker or Harley Quinn mech. Too little too late.
