Im not understanding what the pen tool is supposed to connect??? Doing other shapes but I just don't get what am I drawing points between.
When I hold the alt the straight line didn't show up, what's the problem?

This is awesome! How can I do this with other layers where auto-trace creates more than one mask? I can only select one source mask and one destination mask. Any ideas Octopus Effects?
I think you should remove the masks and leave only 1 outer mask (the mask surrounding the whole object)

02:42 when i copy and past the banana into the apple precomp , the banana mask go to "seat" on the apple, but the banana itself stay in the same place. why is that?

the connecting part using the pen tool with holding alt is not working, could it be because I'm using an older version of after effect (cc2017)?

@@russmondragon8644 I found out the mistake I was making, you don't have to select the pen tool. from the effect panel click on the reshape effect and then hold alt, but make sure the reshape is selected and highlighted

When I attach "Banana mask to apple mask" (reshape option) then the mask go half way from Banana to apple . Banana is not changing full to apple

While doing pre-composition select "move all attributes into new composition". Hope this will wrks for you...

How do you get the pen tool to create that line? I held alt but it would not create that line between the masks

@@alessandrorizzo9705 So I found unlike a reply somewhere above, you have to click on the reshape effect so it's highlighted, then change to pen tool and hold alt to get it work! or else it's just a camera icon

select highlight the mask and hit enter, type new name and hit enter again to apply the new name
Hi! I'm trying to do this with a vector from Illustrator which I saved as a PNG - so it is an image of one flat colour. When I auto-trace, it turns it to white. Any idea why this is? Thank you!

When I copy the effect to the second composition it doesn't work, It gets really warp when Ae try to convert the second composition layer to the first, help please-
You have to connect the corresponding points between the two masks, the more points you connect, the smoother the transformation process. I do it at 3:34
hi for some reason no matter what I do I cannot get my masks to rename. I have spent 2 hours doing it over and over and they won't go from "mask 1" to any other name. I click nothing, I hit rename by right clicking and still nothing. I cannot figure it out. any advice?
you just hit "enter" and you can rename

Would this work at the start of an animation? For example, if I had a rising bubble morph into a bird and then fly off?
Yes, it is OK. when the transformation happens, you let the objects stop moving. So it is still the transformation between the two still lifes

The shortcut on Mac differs from that of Windows. So you should look for keyboard shortcuts to use on Mac

I'm having an issue getting the mask to copy into the other layer
It just replaces the mask that I already have in there.

This step helps connect 2 similarities of bananas and apples to make the transition softer. To do this you have to highlight Reshape FX then press the alt key and then click on the points
