PS.. sorry to hear about the leak at your home hope you get it sorted and decorating is a right pain but unfortunately we have to do it . Looking forward to the next T W.P .
Great vlog. Driftwood contains too much salt and damages stove linings. Used to love Whitby in the Winter it became ours again. Alas, no more. Plenty of gullys still around, most of ours have migrated for the Winter.
Ive been talking to my mate today. He had been burning sea coal, and it set his chimney on fire. I wonder if you could burn the Tate Hill wood. There isn't much Salt in the harbour, especially on the days it comes down becomes it comes down in Fresh water which pushes any saltwater to the bottom.
@@thewhitbyphotographer not sure I had some from off pier at Saltburn but never really burnt hot and stopped when sweep from mucky duck advised me not to. Bought my wood from Lythe off Russ.
@@thewhitbyphotographer wow that is astronomical, unfortunately it's the same everywhere even where we live, I think they pluck the figures out of thin air.
Yeah the last time I was at Whitby after storm babet there was lots of driftwood then people were picking it up to take it home as a garden.. I've seen people actually make tables from driftwood and they are very cool.. Whitby certainly survives on tourism but yes you're right when you say it's certainly nice when it's just quiet and mainly locals out doing shopping maybe? During the week and late evening I find is best to visit Whitby.. at least I do when I'm fishing off east pier .. but over the last few months as you know only too well, it's been crazy weather.. thank you for the short video it's always a pleasure... I shouldn't laugh but the other week I came to speak to some of the usual fisherman for the first time in my life I actually saw a seagull swoop down scratch a woman in the face while stealing her food .. I know people won't like what I say.. I think there should be culd when they're starting to attack people for food .. they're not exactly small birds there and they are very very angry birds when food is about... So yes they should be deleted ,at least, the ones that are being prolific offenders.. there's no greater seafood than lobsters a🎉 yummy yummy 🤤

Great video with a nice natural commentary! My love Whitby & surrounding coast & countryside. Will look out for your future vids.
Whitby is at its best in winter when the streets are almost empty and the history becomes more visible.
That moment when the fishing boat sails past the Cardinal Mark, you realise how big it is! Lovely atmospheric video, felt I was there :)
Thankyou Joe.
: ) You sound just like my husband's family : )
Weird ?

Love your video's, me and my partner adore Whitby we would love to move out there, but unfortunately house prices are a little out of our range.
It’s resiculous here. In two years my rent went from £525 to nearly £800 for a flat.
