- The Federal Constitution is supreme.
Why 'harmonise' the syariah and civil laws of Malaysia?
Is the islamisation of Malaysia by making civil laws syariah compliant?
Soon...the ulamas will rule over & above our judges

so refreshing to hear such open, frank and intelligent analysis and comments that reflect the state of race, religion and law in Malaysia. Brave and mucho thank you, Pn MM for this amazing discussion. You are the BEST.SALUTE.
❤The best, courageous and brave to speak up. Listen, listen, wake up people, may truth and justice prevail, lanjutkan perjuangan Pn MM, Tabik ❤Terbaik ❤
Mariam, again I say BRAVO to you. With lots of respect.
Thanks for highlighting this fact. Power to the people not politicians only. Equal justice to women as well.
Yup. Let's head to where the west is heading now.... Your men can become women, children must be shown graphic sexual move for education purposes, men have to pay child support for bastard children who aren't even theirs and the endless gender pronouns. Best society ever with no standards at all. 😂
What justice? Now a days men is avoiding women for 1 reasons. Because of one slogan-Your money is money. My money is my money. I am always right. You are always wrong. Get accused of something you never do. It's OK you can have all your justice women. I rather live alone than to die with an ungrateful partner .
Mariam, you are full of knowledge, should be our Home Minister 😊
And Menteri Perpaduan
Our country is doomed if this is our menteri perpaduan.
😂😂😂
The Malays i knew 20years ago were all had brains like Miriam!
Lets put reality into scenario
Issues on divorce alimony poligamy that she mentioned has escalated in 2022,23 then it was years ago!
The Muslim malay women are accepting it .
These laws cannot be implemented if these women pull together and march down to Parliment House.!
Recently i got "told off" when i remarked to an accquaintance that she has no "self esteem" by staying in a marriage
She was talking to me about her husband,s second wife as if its a Norm .
No need.
Good morning Mariam, you are the best.🎉
Certainly agree with you, although I'm a non Malaysian.
You nailed it. A wise gutsy woman. Keep it up lady 👍
Kak Mariam, thank you for sharing, its just very sad , politicians are playing politics for their own gains and the country's citizens that have encountered such problems had to suffer for no wrong of theirs. 👍
Good narrative and this helps more of us to understand some current issues affecting Malaysians in general. Thank you, Puan.
Mariam, I HOPE YOU ARE IN POLITICS . WE NEED INTELLIGENT PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO REPRESENT THE MALAYSIAN PEOPLE. I AM SURE YOU WILL BE RECEIVED WITH OPEN ARMS BY MOST PEOPLE IN MALAYSIA. GO FOR IT.
Politicians can't make right decision, it is all about expanding your support base. With diverse society like Malaysia this is even harder.
Which party you will Join ?
Better join DAP lah 😄
Is Mahathir a malay or a mamak what if I tell you his parents are Indian muslim How can he claims to be a malay He comes from a indian family that does not make him a malay He came to Malaya to study fell in love with a malay girl later married her he was already a muslim that does not make him a malay but indian muslim Later he went into politics somehow or rather he was sacked by our first prime minister Tuanku Abdul Rahman and the rest is all history Because of politics and crazy for power still not enough for him. Now he is already 98 still cannot let go He should be enjoying his retirement and stop meddling with the present government and politics one question why does he hates Anuar so much
Thanks for highlighting this important point....it is a definite fact that the right of minorities will be further trampled by this development
Betul kata puan, teruska keadilan
Lovely to hear your talk. The next general elections should be a deciding factor for the young non Malays - if it is a time for you to start afresh elsewhere - to live in dignity and start a new generation where you are not treated like second class pendatangs.
Another excellent commentary by Mariam. There should always be a separation of state and religion. The evidence is everywhere throughout history. Religion is too powerful a tool to cause chaos and disintegration of society.
That is why I never vote for PN and PAS
You are absolutely on the point. Without other races contribute to Malaysia, Malaysia won't be glory in the 80-90s! Look at Singapore is a great example. Success depends on smart people. I remember 1 ringgit = 1 Singapore dollar. Malaysia now rank below Indonesia and is the lowest among ASEAN (initial 5). PAS will make malaysia like Iran. If a majority of Malay think like you do, Malaysia glory years won't be to far away. Using Religion in politics won't work. Why US was so success in the last 50 years and now is trending down? Socialism and religions become a factor and Corruption.
Mix of Religion and Politics to win
Brownie points.. this has little to do with the Integrity and Truth needed in any Religious Faith..
Thank you so much.. Long life be
Yours
Love the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. May be we can add a line to this already beautiful song like : "No East, No west, No Low IQ Lebais, No Arabisation ' Wowww ....the whole world would be such a wonderful place for everyone to live in.
Wish madam mariam always being blessed with hidayah from the most merciful and mighty Allah all the time.
Respect you and God bless you.
Mam , you are great. Do a job no one can do. Keep up the good work. Tq
The country is doom if we allow these extremists to implement this policy.
❤Pn MM the best, clear, logical and the best reasons given to support her position, the best for Malaysia ❤
Mdm MM. you are awesome. Kudos.
Spoken with true wisdom ❤❤
More like true ignorance.
Well said.Mariam Moktar
thank you for sharing
Agree undoubtly... tyranny occurs when absolute power is granted to the rulers of the day... corruption creeps in as power furthers their own interests instead of working for the common good. Malaysia's Constituiton which upholds the "Rule of Law" at its highest, serves as a 'safeguard' against tyranny. The "Rule of Law" which is good and upholds just principles, would bring good order to a nation and thus we should all fall under it's protection....
As long as Islam is the majority religion in Malaysia, race and religion will always be the number one problem. It can only be solved if Malaysia turns into a fully secular country, which of course, is almost impossible to do given the fact that Islamic conservatism has taken root after the era of Tengku Abdul Rahman's rule was over in the early 70s. Mariam Moktar and her like-minded cohorts of that 'secular' era are fast dwindling. Subsequent Malay leaders Abdul Razak, Husein Onn, Mahathir and Najib contributed to the fast tracking of conservative Islamisation process of Malaysia. Anwar's multiracialism and multireligious effort to change Malaysia will be met with strong and formidable resistance by the majorly Malays. The "battle" will rages on for many years to come.
Probably won’t take years to change the mindset of the majority because Anwar is running the govt with a coalition that is put together for the vested interests of the parties. This coalition would not last with the threat from within and outside.
Race and religion have been used and will always be used when they have no substance to present or their power and position being threaten. The politicians use this to their advantage as they know their people (will swallow this whole). It is us against them even as I suffer as long as the "right" muslims are in power. You can only hope one day, they realize and snap out of it but it is not going to be anytime soon. I want to ask my Muslim friends, if you ask your relatives in Singapore, would they rather be in Singapore or Malaysia? Why?
Yup. Let's head to where the west is heading now.... Your men can become women, children must be shown graphic sexual move for education purposes, men have to pay child support for bastard children who aren't even theirs and the endless gender pronouns. Best society ever with no standards at all. 😂
Malaysia was ok during Tunku's time. It was 1969 May 13 racial riots engineered by Tun Abdul Razak that started this Malay supremacy and nationalist movement. Mahathir, another Malay nationalist maniac, was suppressed and put into cold storage in UMNO by Tunku and rightly so. When Tun Razak became PM he took Mahathir out from the doldrums and elevated him. For this reason Mahathir was indebted to him which was why he supported his son Najib to take over the reign after the temporary seat warmer Badawi. Why Mahathir is now against Najib is because Najib stole billions of Ringgit from the people which was significantly very much more than the amount Mahathir himself stole during his time as PM.
@@CCLow-jr7ummahathir against him not because of he stole billions ringgit. It is because he resist from being mahathir’s puppet
Kak Mariam , you r the best .
0:28 I'm shocked at the young people who look back on the 1990s as a period of religious moderation in Malaysia.
Saying it as it is.
Politicians of Malaysia are in grandiose mode.We are a small country.Lets not jeopardize our acceptence by the international arena by such unacceptable statements from such politicians .Malaysia can regress only.Abolish two courts and stick with the constitution and stay with the civil courts.
Syariah courts need to be abolished
YES 100% AGREEABLE.
Baca undang undang laa...seblm komen bukan bujan...syriah law for muslim not for non muslim
@@samathamid8714 why the double standard?
@@oxfordbambooshootify Because non-muslim can do a lot of things like zina, consume alcohol, accept riba while Islam have guidelines for Muslim to follow
Syariah laws IS for the muslims...not for the non muslims...don't hear a hearsay...
This topic is difficult. Even if there is another Tunku Abdul Rahman in the near future, he will be treated badly by the authority. I agree with Mariam, but due to current islamisation process, the mess created by them will accumulate and we will follow the religious affiliation of Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East.
I pray for more brave persolity like mariam, but with the increasing number of religious institutions in the country, this is a mammoth task to change.
Madem, always love your sharing.
I always respect and tribute to Mariam Mokhtar, she is such a good analyst who dare to tell the truth! Love you!
Allowing religious authority to goven the country Malaysia will end up like Pakistan, Afghan, Iran, Sudan etc...
Afghanistan is faring better than the West currently is. US spending billions in Ukraine while cities like Portland and Chicago are riddled with meths, non stop gun violence and children having their genitals cut off. You're more than welcomed to head to those places if you think that's ideal.
You forgot New Zealand, Qatar, Ireland, Turkey, ...that's where most Malaysians want the country to be, communal w commerce w care. Not the toxic life of Hong Kong or Singapore...
Pakistan is part of indian don't be separated
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So help me god. Mariam u r the best.
Some ppl do not understand when we use the term extremism, its not just abt going around murdering. We signed up to MA63 in the spirit of tolerance and respect. However, what is demanded of us in this period is not just that, but full acceptance of supremacy. We sabahans certainly did not sign up for this. If we truly andfully accepted your core beliefs, we wouldve already converted into it. Its the same vice versa, and we can accept that too out of respect. You can share your values freely, but shoving your beliefs down our throats.. we have to draw the line.
You want special rights, you can have it provided not at our expense. You want official ceremonies held via your religious traditions, go ahead. But pls do not cross the line.
Fantastic and a lot of sense thank you
❤
I am sorry to say that the Majority of Muslim in Malaysia does not share your views. Most of them do not have the capacity to think and debate rationally. It will only get worst I am afraid.
Meanwhile left leaning people think they can turn Malaysia to the left by voting for the PSM.
...agreed, they do not have the god-given-BRAIN to think for themselves but love to be led by the nose by their holier-than-thou corrupted "Ularmak" 🤦🏻♀️
The majority of Muslims know where this kinda thinking will lead to. That's why we're steadfast. If having sex being marketed to children freely, cutting off breasts and genitals for gender reassignment, endless gender pronouns are your idea of freedom, pls head to the countries where there are plenty of these phenomena happening.
@@cloudstrife112 what? your line of thinking clearly demonstrates what the original commenter is saying. Pemikiran apa ni? Apa kaitan sekularisme dengan free sex dan pembedahan ubah gender? Please explain how you managed to "connect" the dots if such dots are even there in the first place.
@@dragonniz buta ke? Where did all these transgender, woke ideas and thinking came from? Conservative Christian countries like Romania, Russia or etc? Or Muslim countries like Pakistan or Saudi? UK, US, Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan and etc where all these crazy stuffs happen are what if not secular?
You are best woman.
👍👍👍👍👍
Hope nobody take this as a sarcastic statement please, thanks. Really glad Singapore got kicked out in 1965.
islam is not the issue, the issue is islam being used as a political tool and in Malaysia getting too extreme.
Agree
then u dont know the real content of quran.
ruclips.net/video/KWqAIzkddoY/видео.html
Modern day Islam imported from the Middle East IS the issue. The Arabisation of Islam has led to extremism. Islam during the days of TAR was a milder form and non threatening.
High respect for you Mariam.
This should be translated in Bahasa Melayu so at least those from kampung can also watch
When the 'law' of the game in the hand of the active player... everything is in excuses...
Dsai is not exempted from that claim.
The Christian countries have long learnt that the State (gov) and Church (religion) do not go well together hence, most countries have steered clear of religion in politics as much as possible.
There is not a single country using religious laws as national law that is successful in the world.
Yep, they sure are right now. Children having their breasts and genitals cut off, men and women can interchange sex anytime according to how they feel, meths and homelessness at levels never seen before until zombies neighborhood is a thing, endless gender pronouns and the list go on. That's what you get when you take God's institution out of of the state.
Good command of the English language, to say the least.
👌🙏
Every religious is good.
Mariam Moktar! 👍
No East or West but they had Buttons and Bows.
Very well said
Mariam is a brave woman... God bless you
You are open minded madam mariam, the former IGP also don't care about the courts order
This is worrying. We will always be against this “harmonisation” of civil and syariah law. Unfortunately, this seems to be a minority sentiment.
Thank you for sharing the history.
Religion is personal belief n devotion. Politic is the ruling of the people through group decision. Religion should'nt be group together with politic. If such the basic is wrong and the election commission and register of society should not approve political party with religion ideology. This will ultimate create intolerance n over power others of other faith. If this is not set right, there is no way things can be corrected with good intention.
In reality, there isnt a distinction between religion and politics when it comes to them. This stemmed from the history of their religion which by default came hand in hand with political rule. We totally understand this, thats why we had to draw the line at the formation of the nation. The Constitution was supposed to limit how far all sides can push when it comes to religious powers, but sadly it is now being reinterpretted by certain ppl of the past administration to be larger than it actually is. We have to revert back to the initial intention of MA63 in good faith.
The constitution clearly stated that all can practice their respective faith without any hindrance. That's why sabah and sarawak came together to form Malaysia. Now with the extreme islamination the question of sabah and sarawak state continuation in Malaysia will be the crucial issues. Thus political stability May be the continuation of issues of malaysia landscape if things are not set right. Just look at countries with islam in the middle east and you will know their problems. Singapore was smart to Break away from Malaysia due to their wise political foresight that religion and politic does not mix.
@@loongsookum8761 the Constitution is vague when it comes to the meaning of official religion. So extremists will interpret it as the end all be all for every citizen. We must educate everyone on the original intention of MA63 to know wat the founding fathers mean when they write the Constitution. If tunku says we r a secular country, it means we r a secular country. I dont care wat atok says decades after.
Agreed, but when the ruling party at that time mis direct the constitution objectives, the opposition party did not do any thing about resolving the issues thus it become a norm and the issues is not resolve but push under the carpet. With 60+ years of self governing the country development is regressing instead of progress. Corruption and inefficiency is the order of the day. Education system has deteriorate with many barely able to communicate well in English. Globalization mean competitive advantages to the proficent and not to the disadvantage.
I salute you madam for your honest analysis.
Why are these people have no regard to the Provisions of the Constitution?
kalau dah best....tentu dah lead the world...
Talk to the majority. In BM.
This slogan...No East No West...etc...came directly out of the Iranian Revolution...
Very true.

I was hoping that you could interact with your bumi or Malay friend and gently explain to him or her about what I said in the video. Over a teh tarik hopefully.
Hopefully, one of the many first small steps towards normalising relations and encouraging greater engagement.

As usual, you are spot-on. We were harmonious until those holier-than-thou hipocrites started their racist and religious extremism. But Sarawak and Sabah somehow withstood the onslaught of racism and religious bigotry and keep their harmonious existence intact. All thanks to our far-seeing leaders of various races and religions. No thanks to the toxic rhetoric of certain Peninsula hipocrites!
Puan , sy ada tengok Yb sabu ceramah di negeri sembilan mengenai 3r , Yb berkenaan bercakap mengenai islam dan bumiputra shl ,sy hanya nk tahu tiada ke agama lain di negeri sembilan ke , puan nk th jg jika sy nk kahwin perempuan melayu dan perempuan melayu ni sanggup tukar agama demi sy apa yg sy harus buat puan ?
Like this, better partition. Singapore was smart, got out while the going was good.
In current times where many laws & religions fight for our support, we need to look at the good of whole community & the countries' development.
The purpose of having laws is for maintaining peace & order.
Laws must also be updated to allow development of economy such as tourism & ease more women in more career avenues such as engineers.
We see no advantage for laws needing 4 witnesses to define rape.
Malaysia Boleh
No matter when the video was made all excellent explanations is relevant cause idiocy still persist. 😅
I'm a Buddhist but i will not publicly claim "Buddhism is Best" bcos i'm mindful of others who will feel insulted. Besides, i am humble & honest enough to admit i'v no deep knowledge in other religions, therefore i think it is best to keep my religious convictions to myself. Having said, 😮i hav a big doubt on this malay university student's sound knowledge in other religions for him to boldly claim "Islam is best" in public ?????

Islam could be the best but for others their religion is considered the best for oneself.
Don't forget when PMX was brought into the government in the early 80's he spearheaded the islamization agenda in the administration. Mind you, he had in the 70's frequented overseas students to do the same as head of ABIM.

Good night from NYC, Miss Mariam and I dunno what to say about Malaysia nowadays, I really dunno.
If by looking 1:08 where even Tunku Abdul Rahman himself saw that extremism is a dangerous thing,, this means that politicians were playing around since the 1970's.
I wish I knew but other than having my outraged by what the inept politicians did to Malaysia, I dunno what to say.

Ms Mariam....just wondering if u r saying that human made laws are supreme to Allah's laws. R u saying that syaria laws are unjust, ketinggalan zaman dan tak sesuai untuk dilaksanakan. Dan Secular/civil law itu so perfect.
Bukankah agama islam itu untuk seluruh alam yakni hukum hakamnya merangkumi islam dan bukan islam. Bersikap adillah. Jgn sebarangan hukum agama islam kerana kelemahan pelaksanaan misalnya.
Hang berat sebelah dlm memberi contoh yakni contoh -ve kpd syaria (vs civil) ttp tidak sebaliknya. R u saying civil law is so perfect that there is no such -ve example(vs syaria)?
Dari Allah kita datang dan kepada Allah kita kembali.
Federal laws of Malaysia is the supreme laws of the land. Stupid contradictive Islamic shariah laws are not suitable for Multi-cultural and Multi-religious secular Malaysia.
The law is fair to all. No man is above the law.
Yet, because of religion, the religious law even no fair, is being practise and profess...
Pakistan was under British colony and the beauty of the British law was administer, but for obvious reason, changed it to the law they like, which causes hardships esp to the unfortunates... The country can never progress when things are not right... 😢😢😢😢
