    Malay Muslims are also victims of religious extremism. Especially Malay women.

    Place the blame on the politicians who have vandalised our education systems. We never had such problems when I was growing up in the sixties. My best friends were Muslim Malays and we ate, played and socialise together. Then Dr Mahathir and his brand of politics came into our lives and everything changed. Anwar could be the change we need but I am not holding my breath for that to happen. Despite all the support he has received, he has done little to prove that he is ‘messiah’ that we were waiting for.
    Perhaps he needs a much stronger base before he can really affect changes. That is my earnest prayer now.

    It goes without saying that extremism will impact on Malaysian society regardless of religious following. Kamal Attaturk realised the danger of religious extremism and thus proclaimed Turkiye as a secular state and not favoured Islam due to Christians living in its midst. Politics without religion is already a potent mix and to add race, religion and royalty into it will be a deadly brew as Malaysians are finding it out. Alas it will be the millstone around the neck of Malaysia forever more. Sad and unless we want to live free of the 3Rs, we will be a victim of it.

    • @MonsierBlack
      @MonsierBlack Год назад

      It merely replaced religious extremism with ultra nationalism for the turks. Who keep in mind, still continues to suppress majority Kurdish regions in Eastern Turkey. The state was also heavily influenced by the whims of the military who could take power from a democratically elected government if deemed it against " kemalist views ". Malaysia needs balance as to not pivot too much on either side of the political spectrum.

    • @hangtuah888
      @hangtuah888 Год назад

      @@MonsierBlack There is no such thing as pivoting between secularism and religious fanaticism. The problem of the suppression is the intention of the will of the majority and notwithstanding there exists a majority of Kurds in the Kurdish homeland. This is no different to the problem found in Basque Separatism or even in the Scottish Nationalism to form a separate state. It has got nothing to do with the fact that in nearly 192 countries, secularism is the way the politics is organised with the exception of the Iranian theocracy.

    • @MonsierBlack
      @MonsierBlack Год назад +1

      @hangtuah888 I was referring to not going towards either extremes be it nationalism or Islamism. For the kurds, it does not matter if other nations have done suppression on their minority groups as it still does not justify turkish suppression of their kurdish minority as a wrong does not make it right. But for the examples that you did use which were Spain and the UK. They have significantly improved their treatment of their minority groups especially the UK as the government had even allowed a referendum to be held in Scotland for independence which is a very big thing. Turkey on other hand, has yet to make any change in fact as of recent news, purposely removed kurdish language courses in school which is a blatant attempt to suppress the Kurds.

    • @hangtuah888
      @hangtuah888 Год назад

      @@MonsierBlack Unfortunately, you chose to ignore the Catalan vote for independence and yet their leaders were promptly rounded up and jailed. The Kurds posed a special problem as there are Kurds in Iraq and Syria which should be granted their own country but these three countries are fearful of fragmentation and separatism within their borders. No doubt the Kurds will eventually be granted their own homeland as we move into a multi polar world order.

    Spoken with the same true impartiality, vigor and boldness, Ma'am! 👏
    Of all the other things he is doing well, I do agree for this part alone DSAI shouldn't have tell the rakyat off to merely "look at secularism and understand the full meaning of the term" , coz clearly some groups in our country just can't digest big words properly, and some clever fool will just bring a bunch of apes with him/her and mindlessly protest against a term😂. Even if there is, our half-baked politicians will just vomit out the definition without themselves fully understanding the true meaning, let alone amidst 63 years of Mahathirist and Hadiist rightist extreme fanatism.
    So how then will secularism be fully understood without giving more and more excuses. Even the full meaning of İCERD they can't define, how much more will most politicians properly disseminate what is in secularism. And this is the problem with 64 yrs overzealous religious indoctrination and a lot don't even read their Holy books from A to Z, and yet cherry pick to suit political interests, in other words, they can just move on with life making religious hukums according to their suka Suki mak bapak, even if it is not in their Holy books. Mixing poisons will always be the answer to their excuses for not separating state from religion. What fickle mindedness can cause this attitude... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    Agree that the new unity govt should tackle the problem of religious extremism heads on. The rakyat is helpless and they can only act by voting for the parties of unity govt. The govt is the one with resources and authority to act, it is failing the rakyat if it allows religious extremism to bully everyone.

    I saw a video sharing that secularism is not separation of state n religion, secularism is a religion itself. about a year ago I think. N it further explains why etc. Since then I'm hooked on the topic in the internet lol. Videos from bookworms that share their insights on political books like the impossible state by Wael Hallaq etc. N this process kept blowing my mind as I see more sharings 🤯 but it was all mainly by foreigners, it's not up till recently that I've started looking at more sharings by in the Malaysian context about these kind of topics. Algorithm brought me to the local context finally? Idk. Well, maybe also many months ago I think I subconsciously avoid them? Idk. I've never bothered w the state as a lower class Sabahan that live amongst stateless friends. And if I saw this video maybe before I somehow found myself reading, listening on this political ideologies stuff, I would have definitely agreed w your points. But now, I can see sharings like yours in many perspectives, and some I agree and some I don't. So for now, throughout this exploration, my stance is that I see Islam as something truly transformative for a society if implemented by a just ruler ie caliphate state. I see it quite revolutionary for a belief/political system introduced/revealed 1500 years ago in a dessert - sandwiched by 2 empires at that time that didn't care about the Arabs as they were seen as savages lol, well atleast from what ive read so far la. I'm very limited. Sorry if this sounds ignorant or not correct for anyone reading, do reply if you want, and I can learn more. But I feel like... commenting, suddenly, coming from my limited and unscholarly background. When actually I don't really comment on videos or posts etc. Emm. Maybe because these topics has been lingering for these past few months and I don't have anyone in my circle that can freely talk about this. Lol offtrack. Anyway, I also don't really follow politics, however it's hard to avoid when I'm hooked on the secular word haha. So, stumbling upon your video is great, I've never known about the cases you mentioned. It just makes me think a lot. And it makes me think that Islam, for now, as a modest religion by it's essence that has Quran and Sayings and Reports of Prophet Muhammad, peace n blessings be upon him, ushers/guides the individual, the family unit and then the society to always be in moderatness, being in the middle in between the extreme right and extreme left whilst being in awe of Allah. So I appreciate really that you are sharing cases that comes from extreme enforcement of a belief ie Islam in this video. It humbles me into reflecting that I must remember not to be extreme and have to exercise scepticism on different belief systems in our society

    Mariam, all issues will keep on coming and visiting us, non stop.. we can keep islam, as the official religion in malaysia, no objection on that.. but religions not suppose to penetrate into political arena.. example religious political parties, this suppose to be shut down completely. This won t bring any goodness in a multicultural malaysia.. no political religious parties, all this must be abolished.. or else there will be more blunders to come in future, just a waiting time only, but surely it will come

    I like to point out my opinions regarding about religion n races,,mainly religions,(religion alone cannot feed your stomach n its only teach you how to be a worthwhile human ,good manner respect others as you need to be respectful to yourself) that all about religions,what most important for political people are to see your people live wisely n comfortablely make your country move forward toward rebuilding a better future,,bukan agama semata2

    Che Mariam, you show great courage, but I regret that the mistakes cannot be corrected. We need only compare India vs. China. India is everything that you say of Malaysia and China is everything that is reflected in Singapore (white cat or black cat). India is the world's biggest democracy, while China remains Chinese, we don't worry about religion, ideology and China acts on what works; while India works on rules of democracy (rule by the majority However I regret that Malaysia will not change, too bad.

    A truly down to earth explanation. Now it appears that after the tight rope walk that our dear leader has to perform with the PAS net on one side and PKR net on the other he is playing to the gallery so that he will win one way or the other. Remember that his credentials as founder of ABIM are in his back pocket to be added to his non secular declaration of the state. PAS will embrace him should he fall onto their net. Otherwise he will continue the way he is just to secure votes but not to keep to his promises to the rest because the rest can wait for all he cares.
