The information I provide on this channel are from my personal experiences living amongst my Amish neighbors. Not every Amish community abides by the same rules or standard of living. Each community differs, but overall they live as simply as possible so they don't get caught up in the world.

Simply Amish - By D. Kraybill - amzn.to/3TU01rL
Very well explained and I enjoyed the video. If prices keep going up and I’m
pretty sure they will, we will be getting rid of some of our things like TV and internet. Have a blessed weekend !
If it were 100% up to me the TV cable would be the first to go. 90 year old mother LOVES her TV so for now we will indulge., LOL But isn't it crazy how much money we pay each month for something that is not tangible. I question what the REAL cost of any of it is..
They were talking about public electric
Yes, connecting to the grid and being beholden to it is HUGE....thank you for adding this!
I am Amish and we use the solar panels to charge our battery for the buggy and rechargeable headlight
Forgot to mention that...we are seeing lots of buggies with lights and I am soooooo happy. It is such an important safety feature. Thank you for sharing!
I did not know that Amish people had cell phones
The Amish also make a distinction between the house and barn. What is allowed in the barn, ie solar panels, are not allowed in the house. They also make use of steam power and use propane or kerosene in the house to power lights, gas stoves and refrigerators.
i remember 60 years ago when a big push was made to bring electricity to rural America. I remember learning that some people in Texas didn't
You lived through some big changes. And here we are talking about AI (in our culture). I always think about that...us older folks or mid older folks LOL are going to be more apt to resist...My grandmother shared how many did not want cars when they came out. I guess we will always have these disruptions. Thank you so much for sharing!
They have various degrees and it's complex and individual just the same way as there are many sects in Christians with various differing dress codes.
Absolutely, thank you for sharing this fact. No one "group" of people are are exactly the same. We are all individuals with free will - thus the many, many church separations in our own culture..
Spot on video. Greetings from Holmes county Ohio. I gotta admit, I let my Amish friends kids use my phone to watch western movies, with parents permission, but maybe a handful of times a year.
My husband drove a group of young men daily to work on pole barns and he was surprised when they said to turn on the radio ....and then they knew the channels. It was country music...They loved it. Once he took them hunting and one said, "can you take my picture!" Thanks for sharing!
@@LivingThatSimpleLife I have posted a couple videos of my Amish friends, had the grandpa on the farrist wheel at fair this year, he was not loving it 😂
@@CowboySJ lol I'm sure it was way too fast!!
Now you know! You are a little more educated. I hope your knowledge is based on fist hand information.
Always, I was reiterating what some of my comments have been in the past from others....I LOVE the Amish and their way of life. I always try to learn from them. We are actually planning on adding solar panels to our own house. Thank you for sharing!
