Awesome, I’m a kiwi and used to live in WA. Great to hear the language is growing. Here we refer to our reo (language) is a taonga (treasure) from our tipuna (ancestors). Lovely to see people holding tight to the Noongar language and their heritage and them lifting their heads higher as a consequence.
Kaya (Kia ora) Tainuikid, I am a West Australian living in Tamaki Makaurau. I wish that Australia would push the Aboriginal language more like they do over here. I'm ashamed to say I know more te reo than my homeland indigenous language. Even basic indigenous greetings are not known by the majority of Australians which is a cultural crime. I would love to see more Aboriginal language lessons on the internet for people to learn and use in every day life. How much nicer is Kaya than G'day.
If anyone who is involved with the teaching of these programs is willing to do some private tutoring online, please get in touch with me. I'm Noongar, but live in the eastern states these days. My grandmother was stolen, and there's no language in our family. I'd love to be able to talk to my children in their ancestral language.
a language rooted in the land and nature. really amazing. I can feel the people of the language and their land. ps. Bruce lees fist of fury to be dubbed in noongar to be shown in Perth festival as reported by guardian bought me here.
