  • This short documentary about the Euchee (Yuchi) Language Project was produced by This Land Press and Sterlin Harjo and Matt Leach. It is filmed at the Yuchi House, the only place on earth where the Yuchi language is spoken on a daily basis by children and elders. The film gives a sense of our work and the way we are racing against time to keep our language alive. Several young learners and children speak the language and continue to learn from fluent elders in daily classes at the Yuchi House. visit our website to find out more, www.yuchilanguage.org

    Siyo :) I'm Eastern Cherokee, born and raised in TN with family in NC. The Yuchi were our closest neighbors back in TN...I'm so glad you're recovering your language and speaking it again. I would love to learn if it was possible...our language isn't even close but I wonder if some words are similar because of how close by you all lived.

    My grandmother would be proud. Her Maiden name was Simms from her daddy Maxi Simms. They journeyed abroad as Native American missionaries. The language was almost lost. The memory of hour ancestors would have been a great loss. Many of our tribe died before the Trail of Tears ever happened. The Euchee people were a major force to be reckoned with and their help was coveted among the other indigenous peoples with knowledge and language and abilities. They were the ancient ones and the other indigenous did not know where the Euchee originally came from.

    Here in Augusta, Georgia, the Euchee were the original inhabitants of our area. To the west of the city in Grovetown and Appling, Georgia, there is still a watercourse named Euchee Creek. As a high school teacher, I tried to make my students aware of this but the damage had already been done by less learned teachers they had had in lower grades who spoke incessantly of the Cherokee as the indigenous people of Georgia. They, of course, were latecomers and had actually no foothold in central Georgia where the Muskoke peoples were dominant. That the Euchee people were our predecessors here was a newfound revelation to my students. I wish we could reestablish at least a Euchee linguistic presence in their rightful home, a local FM-station perhaps that broadcast part of the day in this noble language?

    There is a chapter about the Yuchi language and the people's struggle to keep it alive in the book "Spoken Here:Travels Among Threatened Languages" by Mark Abley. Another book, Gateway to Atlantis: The Search for the Source of a Lost Civilization, by Andrew Collins, claims that The Yuchi People are from Atlantis--located in what is now Cuba.

    I as many have said wish it were possible to learn this wonderful language to prevent it from disappearing. Its a shame something cannot be done to teach this at a more national level. The more people who speak it, the more likely it is to be passed down to future generations.

    My 4th great grandmother was Lovey Harris, the great grand daughter of Sam Story, and granddaughter of Jim Crow from Florida’s panhandle. While I am an African American, I am a direct descendant of Sam Story. I’ve spoken with the elders of my family and have confirmed all that I know. I’m still learning more about the Yuchi tribe and was very interested in the language spoken. This is a great video. Thank you for sharing!

    I would love to learn the Yuchi language, and I wish all the best to the people who are trying to revive and flourish the Yuchi language. I would be very heartbreaking for the Yuchi language to die out. That just can't happen. I pray to God that the Yuchi people's mission of reviving and flourishing the Yuchi language is completely successful. I am a firm believer in the preservation and expansion of all endangered languages. Just because very few people speak them doesn't mean that we should let them go. All languages must be preserved, and the dead ones revived. A language is a very important thing. Language is probably the most important thing in regards to the connection of humans with other humans. If the Yuchi people spoke only English, then sadly, they would no longer be the Yuchi people. When a language disappears, so does the identity of the people. Language is that important. May the Yuchi language, and all other endangered languages, live long and well on this Earth.

    Wow been doing some serious research on the Yuchi and trying to link them up with various people in history and I found in Greek Mythology/Bible after after the fall of lucifer or before !! there were alot of tribes scattered around the earth who were not giving their building style like the chinese, and japanese !! The quran and greek mythology mention the people that had not been given their building styles and that they were entitled to a buiding style so they could live in peace and safety !! These people are mentioned as nyphys ,satyrs, fawns and rustics !! but more so forest dwellers !! I linked them to the yuchi because some of the artifacts show the people with legs of goats !! Which may mean if their were centaurs !! the Yuchi may be related to them !! aint that nuts !! When u look at the foot arches and other physical and genetic traits !! high blood pressure and other issues our people have !! Expeically when they mixed with black !! Or Being black orignally ! And the building style may have been of a pacific look !! like hawaiin !! The old Cahokia courthouse in illionis may be the last remnant of Yuchi architecure emulated by the french because the french dont build buildings liek that with the logs upright !! which style is found in the pacific !! If i was a rascal and i had some family with genetic diseease lame leg or something !! inject their seed in a goat and see what happens !! its possible that the reaosn for the genetic disorder is its wanting to connect with some genes found in other animals !! THis whole anthropomorphic idea is based on the Fact that the Quran states that so called white jews were turned into apes and swine and every muslim on the planet belives it !! many see that as insulting or deragatory but im looking at it from a scientific stand point !! According to the greek mythology the a guy with goat legs put his seed in a horse and thats how centaurs came about !! So this all documented check out perseus tufts !! I foud a picture in the tomb of amenhotep the 3rd that has all the races in it and one race looks like it could be the native americans !! he kinda looks yuchi too !!

    • @jasoncoleman3438
      @jasoncoleman3438 6 лет назад

      if u dont beleive me ask somebody with lame leg if they wanna get an experiment !! and put they seed in a goat and see what happen ! if u make a discovery i want my props ! at the same time woudl it be morally wrong to make a man with goat leggs u know fed gonna come on u like wtf are yall doing over here !!

    • @jasoncoleman3438
      @jasoncoleman3438 6 лет назад

      i seen a couple tablets from the yucchi cave in illinois with men with goat legs and other creatures !! Its possible to that there may be a whole underwater network under the earth with life forms with space craft !! I seen one and a image of the moon with a face on it found on yuchi tablets ! so im totally convinved of this !! c ause i am a witness to something found on the yuchi tablets !!

      The last centaur raised jason from jason and the argonauts the great sailor whose constellation is the most dominant in the southern hemisphere plus the canis major is his dog !! there are 2 centaur contellations and Orion, arcturus and the pellians are mentioned in the bible so its not outside of biblical knownledge and thus not forbidden since the yuchi are christina now !!

    • @Lulu-qi1um
      @Lulu-qi1um 3 года назад +1

      Yeah...so a lot of what you've said here is either total bullshit or obviously absolutely misunderstood. Muslims all around the world absolutely do NOT believe that "white Jews" were turned into apes and pigs because the term "white Jews" doesn't exist in the Quran. The Quran tells a repeated story about a group of Jews who transgressed on the Sabbath. God ended up protecting those who spoke out and admonished the transgressors. God said to the transgressors "be you apes, despised and rejected."
      This story comes originally not from the Quran, but from the Tanakh and Midrash. And it has no "racial" basis. There is literally NOTHING about *white* Jews. Just those who do not do what God asks of them.
      There are also many other stories of bodily deformation as punishment for disobeying God all throughout Jewish texts.

    It may have been the algonquin who were targetted for being given a buiilding style an the yuchi were sent over to give them their buidling style as i read yuchi were the go between and brought the peace pipe and are distincy from all other tribes which means they may actually be the ones that brought them civilizaiton !! i was always thinking that the yuchi were from yucutan which may be true too but the algonquin were further north plus the tribal differences in chinese peoples are wide ! differnet building styples in vietnam, china an other areas even though alot is similar !!!

    If you need some biblical references check out genesis chapter 30 37 this is about when the black man jacob supposedly made all the races !! Josephs dream about the Planets bowing to him is of significance becase each race was attacked to a planet, mineral, a day of the week and even parts of a sentecne !! the Verb being the sun and the subject being the earth and other things moons or who knows how the ancients did it but this is the right path of their cultural traits and jargon !! IN greek mythology the races were named after the swine, goat, cow !!
