The 80's and pretty much all through the 90's wrestling and the characters were so much better. Todays wrestlers most of them look the same even back in the old days their were a lot of wrestlers that were not all cut up, but their character and personality made them. Wrestling will never be same.
Those are some wise words from a 9 year old. Keep doing your homework on back when wrestling was great.
Basically until it was WWF. When it changed to WWE it got into this "Sports Entertainment" bullshit with lame story lines
Sad that for the last 20 yrs hearing these legends werent and still arent taken care of. Breaks my freaking soul as many millions that have been earned and not returned, maybe im bias but these men gave their lives to the business and us fans. Theres no script for that

I think Hogan is a big fanny pack fan as well.
It's all kind of just speculation on who Andre liked or didn't like. HTM says Andre liked him, but didn't like Big John, Jake, or Warrior. But Warrior said Andre was great with him, but Andre didn't like Macho Man. Jake also says Andre was good with him and that they played cards together often. Nobody really knows who Andre liked or didn't like. I think Superstar is mostly right in saying that Andre was probably too big to be really coordinated, especially as he got older, and because he was so heavy and strong, what felt normal to him probably hurt other guys more then he fully understood.
Superstar, the only wrestler that I loved. I put nobody on a pedestal, but he is the only person I would love to meet. So if anyone out there knows superstar, send him my way 👍

I watched all the beast back in the 70s and 80s live shows and had a promoter that wanted me to wrestle i just laughed i told him i want to be able to work out in 25 yrs not be all screwed up but boy was Andre freakin big i love to hear the old storys.

Andre used to help out Canadian Heavyweight Arm Wrestling Champion Tony Senger . I watched Andre carry 4 rolls of carpeting on his shoulder & Tony was installing Carpet in a High rise Building I was hired to help clean at night in Edmonton,Alberta. Andre would toss a roll in each room Tony asked & then He would install the carpet. Andre & Tony were best friends & would help Tony out when he could.

He didn't run Studd out of the business. Studd wrestled for years after their feud. And HTM implied he didn't live long after WM3...we sll know that's not true

Why didn't Andre like Studd? From all accounts, I heard that Studd was a nice guy and had a lot of respect for Andre.
6 years. He died in 1993.
Because Studd wanted to be a "giant" like Andre, but there could only be one "giant". Studd was even taking growth hormone to get even bigger. Andre didn't like that Studd was encroaching on his position. Not to mention it was bad for the business of wrestling to have two giants. Andre knew this, but Studd wouldn't stop antagonizing him. Andre made a point to tell Studd not to enter the ring by going over the top rope; only the giant did that. Other wrestlers go under the rope. Studd would ignore him and do it anyway.

I feel for these guys when they talk about the business side and getting their share....being in music it's the same form of exploitation where the stars always have to fight for their share over all these soulless promoters, federation, and show owners....it's smarter to listen than to talk when it comes to such conversations because so many got shafted sold down to having nothing now....a lot lost it in investments and/or squandered their best days....entertainment in any form is a tough fucking game
So it sounds like Andre wasn't the "gentle giant" a lot of people portray him to be.
I consider Andre to be way scarier in his younger years - the guy actually CHASED his opponent around the ring. Now THAT is terrifying.
If he liked you, he liked you like a brother but if you got on his bad side, you were screwed. Doubly so if booze was involved.

Hogg I believe Billy Graham is having some serious health issues supposedly his Hep C is eating up his second liver according to reports by Hannibal plus the hip replacement he had didn't do much to relieve his pain,not to mention steroids basically destroy all your joints so I am sure the man is in a shitton of pain and probably on some pretty potent stuff!!

It was just about impossible for Andre to be drunk with his size and tolerance. Maybe he had a buzz but I doubt he was drunk.

THE HANNIBAL TV - Billy has always been my favorite. I got into Billy during his karate gimmick. Cool dude.
Bobby Heenan does the Andre thing more funnier than HTM cos he tells it from his perspective of being Andre's manager at the time and every match that Warrior and Andre would have, Warrior would try to beat the crap out of Andre, then Andre would fall into the ropes and then all of a sudden, Andre just held a fist up right as Warrior had come off the ropes charging at him. I think Andre from what Heenan said in the interview, Andre did that three or four times, but the funny thing was, Warrior came back for more and more, he never knew when to quit, so it was after the fourth time, Andre got to the back and just looked at Heenan and said "He'll be fine" or something like that.

Andre didnt like alot of people at first. Jake was just one of them. Jake, Savage, Butch Reed, Kamala, Studd, even Hogan at first. Giant was just one of those people you had to almost earn your keep around.
He loved Jake afterward though. According to Jake anyway. But he seemed sincere.

Exactly. People don't understand that Andre was protecting himself, but also the business. It makes no sense to bill multiple giants...then it takes away the shine and the novelty of a "giant" if there are so many of them. You want one "unbeatable giant". That's marketing 101. The reality is no one could even hope to defeat Andre in a real match, so to have other small "giants" beat him would be ridiculous and unbelievable.

Why is it that everyone says they were the best of friends with Andre? Maybe because he was one of the most recognizable and interesting in wrestling so nowadays it literally pays to have stories of Andre. I don’t know how the HTM can be friends with everyone in the business when on every vid i see he’s badmouthing someone so I can’t really take what he says for the truth. 🤷🏻♂️

@@cuttinupthecarpet504 Bad news called him out of the bus but Andre didn't get out, this was in the mid 80s in Japan and Andre could barely move and was really buzz.
Kamala has flat out said Andre in the 70s could beat his ass in a real fight if he got mad which is why he brought a hand gun with him to comfort Andre, though no one knew Kamala having a gun on him when he did this. Andre apologize to him and they remained good friends.

several reasons. feeling that he deserved to win instead, especially from all the work he did to get himself ready for the match, not to mention his overall career. not fully buying into vince's long term vision for the WWF or pro wrestling as a whole. moody because of his back issues. and being skeptical if hogan even deserved the win over him.
ultimately though, he did the job for what was best for business. also known as......money talks lol.
