This is some of the most phenomenal content that youtube has to offer. Keep this stuff coming! I’d love to see you do something similar with a Cuban piano master like Ivan Melón Lewis or Gonzalo Rubacalba, Peter. I can’t get enough of this channel.

After watching you guys, my playing has improved more in three days than in the last three years, I have lived in Thailand for the last eight years, first came here 38 years ago so I am able to get by in Thai language ok, but I love learning languages so at the moment I am on duo lingo every day learning Portuguese, I just want to say thank you Peter and everybody at open studio for such wonderful useful content, and Peter say Obrigado grande to Helio for me, great stuff guys.

It is simply that the chord change is anticipated on the last 16th note in the bar preceeding the bass note in the chord change on the 1 of the next bar (unless the root is the same and the chord quality is what changes)...Romero will demonstrate on the guitar...😊

What a fantastic lesson! I am an adorer of Tom Jobim and Joao Gilberto, so I really freaked out. And you two, the teacher and the student, are awesome. Thanks a lot...👏👏👏

🙌🙌🙌 very interesting to hear subtle differences on the melodic phrase especially on the rhythm and swing approach. Both sound nice but if you like to play Jobim you have to Brazilian MPB roots… samba, choro and chorinhos. Musicians like Cartola, Nazareth, Pixinginha, etc. It’s all on the rhythm and groove that can’t be transferred to music scores and books. Thanks so much

    Peter..!!!
    why don't you invite
a pianist CESAR CAMARGO MARIANO, in my opinion , the best Brazilian jazz pianist, to a Live. The way He plays Bossa Nova and Samba is Amaizing. He is famous for the way he plays and grooves with his left hand. He is also an important arranger of Tom Jobim's music.
Romero Lubambo recorded with Cesar Camargo a very popular album called DUO. Piano and Guitar
    Will be so great.

OK, you can't do this without defining the difference between Samba & Bossa por favor!

No difference in my opinion. Bossa just uses less instruments. Even Joao Gilberto himself says theres no difference
