"I'm here, but I can't hear" Is going to be my new catchphrase. You are right on don't give up on your dreams. Being deaf, the expectation has been heavily placed on me that I am stupid because I'm deaf and I would never graduate school or go to college or do anything with my life. Well, I graduated school, been in college for 11 years and I'm about to graduate very soon, I have traveled across the country 4 times now, and accomplished all the dreams I had. A year ago, I accomplished the biggest dream of my life. I packed up my stuff, threw my dog in the car, and moved to Oregon. I got to see the mountains, snow, did things I've always wanted to do such as skiing, and learned a lot of things. My currently dreams right now are to finally graduate (I have 2 classes left!), move somewhere else that has everything Oregon has but without the wildfires, then either work as a park ranger for a national park or work with wildlife. Before I moved to Oregon, I was starting to let go my dream of being a park ranger because the job description entails you to have perfect hearing in order to work. But while in Oregon, I discovered through word of mouth that there are deaf people in those fields, and they use a special GPS phone to be able to receive and send text messages to/from their boss and coworkers while in the middle of nowhere. Let's do this!

your one of my role models and my inspiration... right now I'm in college and I've been learning sign language for about 3-4 years now and I've never had any accommodations throughout my schooling and now that I'm in college I finally have an interpreter for the first time and it is so amazing I also have transcribers their OK I guess but its so amazing how much I'm learning having access to services... I want to educate parents and other people with deaf and HOH kids how important language is mostly ASL and give them all the information and also want to help kids that are deaf and HOH get accommodation because growing up I never got any help and my family doesn't understand and they still try to call me on the phone and I can't talk on the phone and they are not willing to learn ASL and they never did anything to help me throughout school especially HS because before HS is when I started to lose my hearing and by the end of HS I don't hear anything now and I have hearing aids but I hate wearing them. they won't help at all.

Hey I just found your channel through drew lynch. My sis had surgery for cochlear implants and I wanted to know your opinion on them. She has had them for a idk 10 years and suffered from a disease that caused the bone near her ear to block everything. I’m sorry I don’t remember what it is and I’m not going to wake her up to ask. But I like your channel and I hope she does to because just like you she’s not around many others with sever hearing loss and this happened to her later in life. I wonder about her because she says when she first got them I was the only one she could really understand. And I haven’t noticed I talk directly in front of her but maybe the reason she could always hear me is because I always make eye contact when I need her to hear me. Anywhom, I love that your informing people about being deaf. And it’s something I feel obligated to research more

I’m not sure if this is rude to ask, but.. I’ve been learning ASL for three years at my university & about the deaf community. I’m a new mom and I was wondering if you or someone else could answer this for me?
My question is, how do Mother’s or fathers that are deaf or hard of hearing wake up in the middle of the night when their baby is crying? I’m more curious especially if the baby is sleeping beside them in a bassinet or crib. Not in the bed with their parents.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MEET DEAF PEOPLE AND I CANT FIND ANY! It's so frustrating. I've looked at meet deaf people apps and searched for deaf meetups. I showed up to what was supposed to be a deaf movie meetup and no one showed up. Where are all these deaf people at??????? I NEED DEAF FRIENDS!
