I thoroughly enjoyed this troubleshooting video. For a while, it was the famous black hole adventure...but eventually, the culprit couldn't resist showing itself. Thanks for your time!
Tuner re-stringing is a nightmare procedure. I just pull the string taught through the spring until it stretches a little, then tie a standard knot and add a little dab of crazy glue on the knot.
i found the best epoxy for metal joining is JB weld. it's designed for that. just be sure to scuff up the surface to give it something "bite" on to. takes like 12hours to set, but it can even be drilled and tapped. great for stripped chassis holes
Hi Trevor, good video, but that receiver was a lot of work. By the way I was the person questioning about the DCR reading of the main filter caps...reading a 70 - 75 Ohm DC resistance. I was more curious what the LCR meter was reporting on the DCR mode? I checked online and the info on this meter is limited. Curious to see an upcoming NAD saga. 😃
Hey Trevor, good to have you back. Just finished a HK Three Thirty Nocturne rehab and it sounds very good. Love these older HK videos a lot. Thanks for firing up the Fluke. Been wanting to see it in action.
Thanks for another great video. What about the sq board behind the Pre amplifier, it has four adjustment pots. I was hoping for an episode about those.
Hey Trevor, great video. I just learned of your channel from a guy in Calgary. I'm gonna do some more watching. I am in the Edmonton area and have a Harman Kardon 900+, a real beast that needs some attention. Is there a way to contact you and possibly have you look at it. Thanks

Does your unit seem to take 15 seconds or so for the tuner/aux to power up? I rehabbed my unit similarly to yours but still find a weird fade in when powered up? Some kind of muting??
15 seconds does seem like a long time for the receiver to wake up. I looked at the schematic and there is no power-on muting or protection circuit. So essentially, they sound should come through almost instantly. The one common denominator is the regulated power supply for all the low level audio circuits and tuners. This regulator is built around Q902, Q903, Q904 and diodes CR901, CR902. I would check on power up the voltages on power lines B5 and B6, should be +30v and +12v respectively. If these voltages are weak or take a long time to come up, you find the problem is in the regulator circuit
XrayTonyb just did a good video on transistor substitutions as part of his Marantz 1300DC amplifier restore. Tony did a excellent job explaining and I doubt I could add anything more to what he covered
@@thedistortedguy Pots are the worst to source, too many variations of the same thing. I'd love to find a good source of pots aside from the regulars like DigiKey

Good to hear your 330 is working and sounding good again. I've got lots more HK gear from that era waiting to see the bench so stay tuned
Excellent as usual! 🤙
Thank you for your valuable knowledge and time!
Thanks for taking the time to watch my boring old videos, lol
Another thoroughly informative, interesting and enjoyable video. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the adjustments on the SQ board are just level adjustments for channel balance and output level

Fascinatuing. Wanna do my 75+ next lol
My first thought was to perhaps use Loctite ThreadLocker Red 271 for joystick; designed to adhere metals (threaded bolts)
Have you tried superglue and baking soda. Or superglue and graphite. Either mixed together make a very strong bond.
Trev, it would have been cool to see one of the 1k / 10 turn potentiometer replacements.

Believe you are right on the muting. If I remember it's in the power amp.

Can u make a video on transistor substitutions?
Good idea. Let me think about this one as it would take a lot of prep work

@@TrevorsBench likewise. Btw any suggestions where we can get 4 leg/8 leg volume pot. Basically a volume pot with a loudness tap.
