- Remember the infomercials about this wedge? I do. It really is interesting how many manufacturers seem to have used some of the ideas from this club, even today.

I found one in my brothers garage among a hundred or more odd and vintage clubs and bags. Yesterday I was playing with a couple of buddies who a low handicap players, which I am not, and 4 months removed from major back surgery. Anyway, somewhere on the back 9 I hit my approach shot over a tall tree but it landed just shy of the green into the sand trap. I announced to my fellow players I was going to use my brothers Alien Wedge and put it in the cup. Low and behold that's just what happened! Thanks, Brother Bill!
Pat Simmons was definitely an innovator. Those clubs came out when most of us weekend warriors didn’t even know what “bounce” was. My advice to everyone who struggles with bunker shots? Step into that bunker with tons of confidence and commit to the shot you need to make. Great video again dude. Keep up the good work. I would love to see a review from you on the Ginties.
Good topic. The Alien Wedge is highest selling club in the history of golf. Why? IT WORKS! I had 5 of these primary for golfers mentally scared by years of bunker failure. I've given 3 away and with a short demo these battered golfers quickly become competent out of the sand. Not great out of the sand (competent) but they can get out of the sand most of the time and have a putt. I highly endorse this club because it helped me and continues to help ours.
Note: I currently use a Volkey Wedge 60° with 12° bounce which works very well but the Alien really gave me confidence to no longer fear sand.
I have an Alien 2 pro series 1 I've been an avid golfer for around 40 years it really gets the ball out of the sand quite well also from deep rough around the green with a full swing to pop the ball up and on to the green it also works well
"The cat came back....."
I had one of these for years carried it out of curiosity more than anything, could never get it to work for me, gave it to a beginner golfer who I cobbled together a set for. It works like the second coming for him!
Your channel is great thanks for your unique delivery. Keep swining.
still use when I play on on soft fluffy sand courses , and from thick rough mainly because they are heavy. many players try to hit them a distance like would a 60 deg but that's not purpose of them.
Dont open face in fact close the face and they work better. awesome club.
i got one of these for 2 bucks at a thrift store. had my wife, who doesnt play golf, hit a ball out of a bunker in one attempt! it works!
Just got a lefty patent pending alien from goodwill outlet, was very curious about it. It looks great, interesting to know it’s history, I was born in 93 so it’s funny to carry it in my bag knowing it’s the same age as me lol
TGIF!!! What do we have here? A blast from the past! I just couldn't ever get myself to hit it. I guess I'm too much of a traditionalist to play it. Maybe I should try it and see what they were all about. Naw I'll stick to my trusty Ram Forged Tom Watson Scoring System wedges. Good job sir and can't wait until next weeks club.
What this club does is make you loft on an angle. Look at the picture of the club ( snapshot it ) you will see a diagonal cutting across the face head making the club open up as you swing. I just noticed this in 2021 after purchasing it in 1993 ( wow )!
I have one that came in a bag of clubs I bought recently, I'll put it in my bag and give it a try if I get in the sand.
My mom had one and it helped her quite a bit out of the bunkers around the greens.
Was able to get a few 110-120 yard shots with the version 2 at the driving range, quite impressive to get those nice shots
Fan of the channel! Columbus OH shout-out
Columbus!!
My Alien wedge works great if you use it correctly and for what it is for, sand and deep rough, plus my wife hits it very well.
they are legal with the grooves!
Why is this club not allowed in the PGA?
They made the best fairway woods I have ever hit.
It looks a lot like the old Knight Approach wedge.
Simmons was crazy brillant...a lot people learned how to really hit shots with the things.....no ....yo cant have mine
So even this ORIGINAL version, with no grooves at all, just dimples, is NOT usga approved?? The USGA only lists the "sport 2" version and "shot saver" versions with actual grooves.
So many goodwill knockoffs, so little OG aliens
Also, mad respect for having both models! I bow down
the profile looks like a foot pump used for air beds 1:43
if you can't get one to buy online go to the mountains and find a witch mixing magic brew with one:)
when you make a video about a product you should read instructions so you are using it correctly, you aren't using this club with a square stance and toe closed so it doen't work as advertised
