Can you make a video of older irons for beginners to look out for? I'm a beginner looking to buy my own set of golf clubs and I honestly can't afford a newer set.
My brother-in-law still uses these irons today I bought them when they came out talked him into buying them and got something else. I’ve had many different clubs since then and he hasn’t changed 😁
You should check out the Ft I-Brid irons which came out 2 years later. I believe they were based on the fusion technology. I got a full set of the I-brids off eBay for under 200 dollars but they were originally around 1600 dollars new.
When these came out you had to hit the heloc to buy them. I recently bought a set to have them in the collection. Don't mind the look of the plastic, but the ferrule hasn't aged well. Love the feel.
I always liked the color scheme and they are pretty darn forgiving but I feel Callaway came back into their own when they released the XR line (irons only) that had the cup face technology which became a springboard to everything they have been producing since.
I don't understand the big head thing. I have a set and the club is the same size as my Hogan Apex Channel Backs. I personally don't mind the insert. I had a set of Maxflis with an insert also.....I am a traditional blade player, Hogan, Wilson, Mizuno, but can woek these and they play well. The game improvement idea always made me laugh because my blades I always thought we game improvement irons......when I did not swing well they left me know in my hands, so I had to swing well to get that feeling of smoothness...LOL
I'm sure these work great and all but they scream Callaway in every way for the time. A year later out comes the first X forged irons, followed by an aggressive looking "raiders" '09 X forged, then a muscle back "prototype".... all business in both appearance and performance. Expensive too.
I love my vintage blades and with my 76 Wilson Staff irons I can hit the ball just as far (and more accurate) than my 2019 Callaway Apex irons... except the short irons. I personally love being a purist and nostalgic, but recently it occured to me Mr Hogan would probably not hesitate to embrace the new tech in balls and clubs. Callaway has managed to produce some of the ugliest irons with the VAS taking top honors.

I bought these new in 2006, and I still play them.
Stiff flex graphite, with a cavity back.
You never feel pain through the hands with a skull shot.

Ha! That is a new one. I need to make a series, "Best Irons to Sell to Your Brother-in-law"
I still play these
I still have a set of these as my back up irons. They were the first set I ever bought 😂
These are my first set that I currently still use
I think those irons look very nice actually.

I have a set of the Japanese Forged version of these. The ERC Hot. Buttery smooth
Right there with 'ya - I think that insert might crap out and then you have a true cavity back.

I purchased the fusion wide sole. Still more forgiving than any club on the market today. They feel pretty good too
Love the wide sole, maybe in a few years I'll review them
@@TheVintageGolfer I purchased them last year for £110. 3 - PW. Doing my research, think they around 2010

Just found a used set for $40. Found this video researching them lol

VAS irons were Cleveland Golf.
They do not play good in the ruff, the club head is lighter than most over sized clubs.
