Me and my husband are CONSTANTLY interrogated about why we don't want kids. I've had people actually respond with ANGER when I tell them that we don't plan on having children! It's so nice to have more men and women come out and talk about this. Thanks for the video!❤
My father in law once threw a wet pacifier that belonged to a child that was visiting the house at my leg. Saying “ you know you want one of these”.😖 Another time :/ My brother in law pretended to set his nephew he was carrying on my lap , while flying his nephew over to me he stopped the child mid flight and said to me in front of everyone “ never mind we all know how much you like children. I went upstairs and I cried... People suck 💔 I’m 37 and I still don’t want kids 🙂🥰 Hugs to anyone dealing with hurtful people for not wanting kids. My hubby and I have our puppies and plant children , they are too much for us sometimes 😂

If you don’t want kids...don’t. They are a huge responsibility and expense. They def need parents who want them and are willing to sacrifice for them. For example, for years I never did anything for myself because my kids needed things. My kids always came first. They are grown now and it seems so nice thinking of myself.

I’m an elementary school teacher, & I absolutely ADORE kids, but I feel like a lot of women our age are leaning towards no kids / having kids much later in life than previous generations. I also totally relate to people kind of freaking out when they hear you don’t want kids. It drives me nuts when people say “oh well you’re young, you’ll change your mind”.........😒. I just don't know how people are having kids. Where do they find the time and money? Is everyone relying on friends and family members while they are working. I just don't get it. My husband complains about not having time to do the things he wants but then he says he wants kids. I'm confused. 🤣
Absolutely a personal choice. I have a niece & nephew, and my sister and her husband are 100% happy to be all about the kids! That’s amazing for some people :). As far as the financial stuff goes, I definitely agree. Even if my partner & I wanted to have kids, as 2 college graduates with salaried jobs, we could not afford it. We are able to pay our mortgage on our tiny condo, cover our other bills, & save a little bit. I have no idea how we could possibly afford a child(ren). Different times we’re living in....

Hey fern ! lil tip: when you’re trying to take moss off your root ball, you need to wet it. It gets off wayyyy easier and it’s also easier by touch to know what is moss and what is a root. Your roots are less stiff, so less prone to breakage ! ❤️
Fern, in all honesty, I don't typically "love" "pot and chat with me vids" BUT I LOVE yours!!! I love your vids because of the style in which you deliver, the way you handle your plants and share, and the care you put into your plants, life, etc. Thanks for ANOTHER awesome vid! A Tip I learned when having to repot my nepenthes is to swish the rootball back and forth in water. The sphagnum will swell up and make it easier to loosen it.
Sorry for the long comment, but I know you have raised this really important topic a few times in your videos/insta stories! Conversations with people around ethics are always so tricky. I feel this way discussing being vegan, or ordering things off of Amazon. I think you're right that we all just need to focus on what makes us feel good, and remember privilege and cultural sensitivity when raising these issues (I would never suggest everyone needs to be vegan because I understand the significance and nutritional needs for many Indigenous populations for example, and that people have differing accessibility to food alternatives). Personally I have found it helpful to share 'successes' with people, especially those with similar privileges (for ex. wow I found this item for sale on this website, even cheaper than Amazon! or wow I just tried this delicious recipe last night, was really quick too!). I think people find that easier to engage with vs. conversations around whole lifestyles/patterns of behaviour but it can help demonstrate that many of these 'shifts' aren't as overwhelming as they sometimes appear to be (again, if you have similar level of privileges). Our society does make it very difficult for many people to make moral decisions ('there is no ethical consumption under capitalism') so I try to be understanding but help people and myself make more informed decisions when I can! Heavy topic, but thanks for the planty videos that help make the world a brighter place :)

And I'm 100% with you on the whole getting back together and how it feels thing, I'm going through something similar, and it feels like no time passed while also feeling like we both grew from the space, and that what happened between us was something that needed to happen so that we could come back stronger. I think sometimes breakups definitely need to be permanent, and I also get judgy when I see people get back with exes sometimes and I have to try and smack that out of myself, but I think for a good few cases that breakups and space are exactly what certain relationships need to come back even stronger. It's a case-by-case basis, lol. Which is why I'm so happy to hear and see that you and Shane are doing so well, y'all deserve it xx
I love feeding people amazing food and then being like “it’s vegan!!” Especially my dad, he’s very meat & potatoes but he loves my cooking and is starting to come around to understanding the benefits of plant-based eating. I was going to ask you about your experience wth leaving nursing but you did address it a bit, I get that you don’t want to get into the details. As someone who also left the healthcare field during the panoramic I think I understand what a relief it must be for you (final straw etc). Just being happy is an amazing life goal and I’m happy you’re moving towards that 💜💜

Awww yes I've been vegan for over 6 years now! I used to feel like that too, when I first went vegan I had so much anxiety about telling people. Now most people in my life are vegan too so I'm very lucky lol.
I’m in the process of buying my first home and man, it’s stressful and it’s not my dream home. It’s soooo outdated but it was built in the 1920s and has a very unique charm to it! Yea buying a house is so stressful! We had to settle on a house just so my husband could get a life. He had a total commute of 4 hours a day to and from work.

Great video! I have found it so much easier to talk about veganism since I became a registered dietitian, people kind of have to take what I say about food seriously, and it is not super random for me to bring up questions surrounding food. Generally I think asking questions to people about what they think about meat, the animal industry and veganism, and following up with why's, is one of the smoother ways to go, compared to telling them what you think.

I only remove sphagnum from roots when it's moist. Your plants look a bit dry and makes sense the sphagnum is not come off without breaking the roots. Just thought that may help what you're doing. Albeit you're focused on the questions and may have skipped that :)

Love this! I’m from Victoria, and am living in the USA right now. Oregon is our next spot but right now stuck in Vegas. We moved from CA to Nevada last year and my plants hate it just as much as I do lol. We plan on getting back to Victoria for food one day- if I don’t want to live in Oregon forever 😂

Hey Fern, you mentioned the UK for living there. But did you ever think about Europe in general? Becaaause: Let me tell you: Here in Berlin where I live, it's soo pedestrian-friendly. It's so weird for me listening to RUclipsrs (actually I almost only listen to english-spaking RUclipsrs) saying & seeing that they keep driving a car but talking about "zero"-waste, biodegradable things and general stuff related to climate change. I know the country and infrastructure in North America was made to drive a car, but still: at least I hope to have given the readers an idea of how it can be here here. Cos I am over 30 and don't even think about getting a driver's license. By the way, it's very expensive here in Berlin. Oh no- the Spag was too dry and you shouldn’t have picked it while the roots were strongly attached. It’s ok for plants to be reported with Spag if it cannot be removed - it’s better than hurting the roots.
The houses in England are insane too. Houses that would be £190k are going for £100k more! I do not get it 🤯 a lot of the country is also supported by the furlough scheme which means your job may or may not be secure. It’s MENTAL 😳

Great video! I have found it so much easier to talk about veganism since I became a registered dietitian, people kind of have to take what I say about food seriously, and it is not super random for me to bring up questions surrounding food. Generally I think asking questions to people about what they think about meat, the animal industry and veganism, and following up with why's, is one of the smoother ways to go, compared to telling them what you think.
I didn't realize that you were vegan!! And I might wet the sphagnum Moss when taking it off, I think it breaks apart a little easier that way! Thank you for the long video 💕

I only remove sphagnum from roots when it's moist. Your plants look a bit dry and makes sense the sphagnum is not come off without breaking the roots. Just thought that may help what you're doing. Albeit you're focused on the questions and may have skipped that :)

Love this! I’m from Victoria, and am living in the USA right now. Oregon is our next spot but right now stuck in Vegas. We moved from CA to Nevada last year and my plants hate it just as much as I do lol. We plan on getting back to Victoria for food one day- if I don’t want to live in Oregon forever 😂

I would keep your nursing license active just in case it's something you ever need to do in the future. You worked very hard to go through school for that. don't just let the license go. You never know if you will need to or even want to do it in the future.

Here in Berlin where I live, it's soo pedestrian-friendly. It's so weird for me listening to RUclipsrs (actually I almost only listen to english-spaking RUclipsrs) saying & seeing that they keep driving a car but talking about "zero"-waste, biodegradable things and general stuff related to climate change. I know the country and infrastructure in North America was made to drive a car, but still: at least I hope to have given the readers an idea of how it can be here here. Cos I am over 30 and don't even think about getting a driver's license. By the way, it's very expensive here in Berlin.
Although I gotta say: In more rural areas in Germany it might be helpful to have a car, but in the city it's just not needed.

Oh no- the Spag was too dry and you shouldn’t have picked it while the roots were strongly attached. It’s ok for plants to be reported with Spag if it cannot be removed - it’s better than hurting the roots.

I live in the US also. We are def falling apart. I am 57 and I notice every time (since Clinton, which was my first election I did not vote Democrat) we have a Democratic President we self implode. I might add here I was raised Democrat. But a totally different Democratic Party. I def would move out of the US if I had money
