My name in passport is just as “Given Name” and as u suggested we need to write the given name in surname if there is no surname in the passport. However my number of character exceeds the limit. What should I do in this case?
Fill in how much ever fits. There are only 34 characters that are allowed in the Surname field. So fill the first 34 characters (including spaces) - of your Given Name in your case - as mentioned on your passport, in the Surname field. When you appear for the visa interview, inform the Visa Officer that your name on the DS160 is incomplete as the entire name did not fit there.

Primary Occupation will be: Unemployed and put an explanation that she graduated in June 2022 and was preparing for her DGCA exams since then. In educational details you can include 10th, 12th and graduation details, although 10th details are not really required.

Hello sir, my case is a peculiar one. I am a medical graduate. Passed my MBBS final year in 2017. After that i joined internship and took a break to prepare for USMLE exam, (which requires us not to complete the internship). Due to some health and financial issues i got caught up and couldn’t write the exam in time and when i did booked the date to write the exam, lockdown happened, i myself contracted covid and grieved for the deaths in family. After the pandemic, i lost hopes on my exam and resumed my internship, i completed it in 2023 and received my original degree and permanent registration. So now the issue is, I want to do MPH course in USA, but now i have 5 years gap in my CV ( June 2017 to September 2021) as i took long time to complete my internship. I cannot acquire a work experience, even though i worked part time with my temporary registration, as no one gives me because i worked without my permanent registration of degree. Now i am in dilemma and in need of your advice. If i want to apply, which year should i have to mention as graduation date ( after passing final MBBS) or after completing internship )? And where should i include my internship duties ? Please guide me, if i can apply for F-1 visa now or should i drop the idea of USA dreams ? Thank you. Awaiting your response.

What to write in current employer if you are on a notice period? Does the information needs to be true when submitting the form or at the time of visa interview as well? Say, I get visa interview after 40 days, and I'll no longer be employed then, so what should I fill in the current employer section now?
It should be the status as on the day you submit the form. So on the day you submit if you are still employed ( and serving your notice period), mention your current employers details. (It doesn't matter when your visa appointment is scheduled).
Do you need to enter previous employer if you are working for the current employer for more than 5 years? You mentioned one need to enter employer for last 5 year.

Actually Sir, when I got my Passport last year , I applied using my IIT Institute address and so in the last page of my Passport I have my Room No and Hostel address of IIT which was my Current Address. Now when I started filling the DS 160 form taking the help from your video , I got confused in the Address part as it asked for Home/Residential address and Mailing Address. Now in the Home address i put in my Home address but what should I write in my Mailing address? Should I write about my Current Hostel Address at IIT or should I write the Mailing address as same as Home address. Actually my address in the last page of my passport has my present address i.e. IIT's address but I will be graduating in 2 months from IIT after which that address won't be of much significance as I will be leaving my Hostel in May 2024. Whatever adress you enter in the ds160 Does NOT matter. You can put any adress. It need not match with your passport address. Put the address you are currently residing at

No you cannot put the US University's name as your current educational institution. If its more than a year since you attended school, college, then say unemployed and explain what you have been doing during the gap.

The reason you shouldn't mention is that your interpretation of why your visa was rejected, may not be very accurate. So just mention the date on which the visa was rejected and the type of visa you had applied for.
I got i-20 but the duration is more than the actual duration of my program. My duration of the masters program is 2 years but my college is showing more than 2 years approximately 2.9 years. If you haven't submitted the ds160 or haven't booked a date yet then fill another ds160. If you have booked a date, you can still fill and submit another ds160 and see if you can update the ds160 number in your visa application.

Sir, in the "person/entity paying for trip" I have put my parent's name thinking that it means flight tickets. My uni has waived off my tuition and will pay me a stipend to cover my living cost. I have alteady submitted my ds160. Is this mistake fatal? Or can I explain myself as my i20 clearly shows that my scholarships+assistantships is 7k more than my COA? I should have actually put my uni name but I have already submitted the ds and booked my appointment.
I filled my ds 160 form And electronically signed and submitted it but just before the Final 'next confirmation ' they showed a session time out so Again when I retrieved my application , signed in , they directly took me to the confirmation page with that unique barcode. So I didn't really get the chance to click that next confirmation option. So shall I consider , since I got my ds160 confirmation they have recieved my all my data in their system?

If you get admit to a good university you can still get the visa. Your graduation date would be as mentioned on your MBBS degree

If you are currently working, put details of current job in current employment. Put details of previous jobs in prior employments

Generally they don't bother about the passport expiry, so its ok

What to write in current employer if you are on a notice period? Does the information needs to be true when submitting the form or at the time of visa interview as well? Say, I get visa interview after 40 days, and I'll no longer be employed then, so what should I fill in the current employer section now?
It should be the status as on the day you submit the form. So on the day you submit if you are still employed ( and serving your notice period), mention your current employers details. (It doesn't matter when your visa appointment is scheduled).

I found this video extremely helpful.I'm applying for VISA for Fall 2024 intake . I had a doubt related to the address section in the DS160 form.
Actually Sir, when I got my Passport last year , I applied using my IIT Institute address and so in the last page of my Passport I have my Room No and Hostel address of IIT which was my Current Address.
Now when I started filling the DS 160 form taking the help from your video , I got confused in the Address part as it asked for Home/Residential address and Mailing Address.
Now in the Home address i put in my Home address but what should I write in my Mailing address?
Should I write about my Current Hostel Address at IIT or should I write the Mailing address as same as Home address.
Actually my address in the last page of my passport has my present address i.e. IIT's address but I will be graduating in 2 months from IIT after which that address won't be of much significance as I will be leaving my Hostel in May 2024.
So what should I be doing under these circumstances.

Whatever adress you enter in the ds160 Does NOT matter. You can put any adress. It need not match with your passport address. Put the address you are currently residing at

The reason you shouldn't mention is that your interpretation of why your visa was rejected, may not be very accurate. So just mention the date on which the visa was rejected and the type of visa you had applied for.
I got i-20 but the duration is more than the actual duration of my program.
My duration of the masters program is 2 years but my college is showing more than 2 years approximately 2.9 years.

It doesn't matter what's written as the duration on the I20. Ignore it. In ds160 put the actual duration of the program (2 years)

You have to fill ds160 forms separately. When taking an appointment, you can add the F2 applicant as a family member and book a single appointment

I filled my ds 160 form And electronically signed and submitted it but just before the Final 'next confirmation ' they showed a session time out so Again when I retrieved my application , signed in , they directly took me to the confirmation page with that unique barcode. So I didn't really get the chance to click that next confirmation option. So shall I consider , since I got my ds160 confirmation they have recieved my all my data in their system?
