- Today we're back with another Victoria 3 challenge - thius time to make the longest nation on earth. We start as chile, and attempt to snake our nation up through south america, past Victoria 3 Mexico and Victoria 3 USA whilst only ever taking coastlines. This means no inland provinces at ALL. If this goes well, I might even redo it in Victoria 3 1.2 when it comes out.

Whenever I see the word "coastline" in a EU 4 Viki 3 or Ck 3 I know it's gonna be either Croatia or Chille lmao
I sort of did this without the restriction on non-Pacific bordering provinces (just 'you must conquer from Alaska to Patagonia contiguously.
The best part - it's a really good way to dismantle great powers by not over conquering. Make France release Occitania, the US release new Africa, and England drop their vassals. And Russia lose topical territories. Austria and Prussia aren't bothering you much, so you can release Hungary or whoever Prussia has gobbled too. Once you balkanise the big boys, game is won.

@@bratenemariz Yeah I've seen it on a documentary once, and as a Croat that makes me proud, there is a couple hundred thousand people in south america that came from Croatia too.

I had noticed you had lost Patagonia earlier in the video and went back to check: at some point you said you accidentally clicked to colonize the mapuche, but they had an in-land province so you couldn't risk an uprising, so what you did was you abandoned the colony, but that colony was in the state of Patagonia, which you partially owned, when you abandoned it, you abandoned ALL of Patagonia, and all of it went to the Mapuche

As soon as he stopped the colony and didn't realise he'd lost the province, I was just waiting for the moment he'd find out.
@@AlexChec I made that mistake when I accidentally cancelled the Hudson Bay Company colony where the US loves to snake into

25:29 One possibility is that when you said that you made a mistake and got some in-land territory you probably abandoned the colony, when you do that, the decentralized state gets the whole state that belongs to that colony, even if you have already colonized it.
The second possibility is that you got a native uprasing. When the natives do that they always set wargoals to get all of your states/territories that border with theirs, so if you backed off that war, welp they got your state as a wargoal.
As a Chilean, this makes me proud

Ironic that at the start of this game, Laith refuses American help because they tend to interfere with "democratically elected governments" who swing slightly left because they fear they'll become Communist.

I thought the resource curse related to productivity and the labor allocation towards oil over other industries or services. There is less room to push labor into industries that they can grow bigger and grow the country.
Plus you can have dutch disease which would increase the value in the currency compared to dollar but that make other industries less competitive because they sell into dollars at a loss.
I like to call what you've done the "Tall Pinochet" in the same vein as "Wideogan = Erdogan"

When you found out you got something other than a coastline you gave it independence to that decentralized state. Problem it took the area it previously had too which you conquered and built up.

laith you freakin dingus. when you stopped growing your colony in that state, it undid all of the colonial growth because of it. thats just how colonies work apparently according to PDX. you stop building the colony and the entire thing just evaporates like Thanos snapped his fingers or something.

I would love to see a game where you play to create a a country with super economy, with a great living standard and a multicultural utopia with women's suffrage as fast as possible, that drains away the population of the rest of the world, through immigration, as you go around liberating and splitting up other larger empires into smaller parts that you get into customs unions and protectorates.. Maybe as Russia or Austria?
