You're probably going to hear me say this a few more times: but this is another song that barely missed the cut last year. I would say it was #2 among the songs that didn't make it in last May.
But this year, Pokey requesters showed that they meant business and voted this song up to the #3 spot in this year's May Madness request form, so this was another easy confirm for this year's remakes.
I've had a lot of people tell me that this was the first GaMetal remix they heard, which is really cool, so I haven't changed a whole lot with this one. I kept the swing intro because, IMO, it wouldn't be the GaMetal version without it.
I'm not entirely sure why I made the intro swing in the first place. Just thought it'd be funny I guess (and would add to the impact of the sound change when the metal part kicks in).

I prefer this title, it sounds much more appropriate to both the situation and the tone of the song. As far as I know, Pokey Means Business is not even an official title, it was made by the fans who ripped the soundtrack from the game's ROM, since the original CD didn't include this song, among many others.

As much I like the metal part of this song, something about the intro makes it one of my favorite VGMs ever. I can't explain it, it's just very interesting and unique to me. This "swing-y" style actually fits it extremely well, great job.
I'd like to see more EarthBound covers from you, but aside from Master Porky's Theme and Porky's Porkies, I'm having a hard time thinking of some good choices. Like maybe Pollyanna and Bein' Friends from MOTHER/EarthBound Beginnings, or a medley of the town themes or battle themes from EarthBound, and along with the two I already mentioned, maybe His Highness's Theme from MOTHER 3?

So, I've been composing for a while now, but I've never tried composing more video game-esque songs until about a year. This video helped inspire me to start making more video game sounding songs, and now, almost a year later, they're my favorite type of music to make. So thanks for making this video and inspiring to start composing this type of music!

Interesting swing interpretation of the chiptune bit at the beginning. I wouldn't have thought of that but it does have the same amount of tonal clash as the original song does. I like it!

It's one of Jonny's heaviest song with that mix of Heavy and Sludge metal. It makes the intro to the song the more peculiar and still fits in very well.
Never was and never will be a fan of that pitch bender for a transition between the Swing intro to the heavy metal portion.
I cannot grasp the true form of this GaMetal song and therefore had an aneurysm and died.

I didn't think this would stay true to 2013 version, glad it does because hooo boi I'm probably gonna come back to this a ton for that swing intro like I did since you released the 2013 remix. This one's also heavier than the 2013 one which I like. Sonic's next but I doubt it's Sandopolis Zone, because back in 2015 when I thought Sandopolis was up next for May Madness it turned out to be Flying Battery Zone, which I still loved, so my bet's on Emerald Hill Zone. I know it'll be great whatever it is!
