I think the hardest part of becoming a mom for me, as someone who had a really traumatic childhood, is knowing and seeing and feeling the all consuming love I have for my daughter and sadness that my parents weren’t able to give me a happy healthy home and that their best really wasn’t enough and was the opposite of that. But at least I know she will always feel safe and loved with me and in our home ❤

I came here to comment something very similar but couldn’t think how to go about wording it… as someone who holds so much “mommy baggage” and abandonment from my mother.. the second to last question shook me to my core..
I did not deserve to be treated the way I was treated, there’s nothing I did or didn’t do to deserve what happened to me. I am enough, I am deserving of unconditional love and I am capable of being the mother I needed.❤️

This was so lovely and necessary for so many Mums. My daughter is 38 and I was a very young 24 year old with elderly parents and no one to talk to but listening to you, Raya and Bec made me so aware that at that time I had no idea of what motherhood meant to me let alone understood it. This makes me feel so unbelievable sad for both my daughter and myself. I didn’t have a particularly supportive or man in touch with himself or his emotions. We were too young and I had a lot of issues from my childhood. I couldn’t/didn’t breast feed and it wasn’t until many years later I felt the massive guilt, deep sadness that I allowed certain things to persuade myself not to try.
I think women from a young age need far more open talk about being a parent. I often find myself feeling so ashamed at various mistakes I know I made and I wish I could go back in time and re-do things so differently.
You two lovely ladies are super Mums and Eamon and Louis are wonderful partners to share your beautiful, precious little ones with. I had an old fashioned partner who didn’t consider it was his ‘Job’ in any way to share caring for our daughter, which made us all the more harder for me and everything that doesn’t or does occur in a child’s life is picked up by them and my daughter is an example of this. I’m trying to be there for her and give her the loving space in which to talk about anything she still feels sadness about. I also need to be open in my part as her Mum. It’s really sad still and I love her so much that nothing is more important.
Guess what I’m trying to say is thank you for both being so vulnerable and honest about your experiences of motherhood it has helped me ‘feel my feelings’ and revisit certain times with a new beautiful baby and l perhaps tell myself that “hey, you did the best you could and yes if I could possibly go back and change certain things, of course I would, but all I have is today to be honest about those times and be open to talk with my daughter and respect her truth and experience without taking it personally from a negative place within my heart. I need to really give myself a break and tell myself I did a pretty good job and everything I did in did from a place of unconditional love. 🥰🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️

Bec’s advice to a new mum is really similar to something I have said to my friends who were about to become mums - feel free to ignore all the advice you are given and do it how you feel comfortable. I think it is so important we empower parents to do things in the way that works for them, rather than feeling like they need to ‘conform’ to what other people think.
Raya and Bec, keep being awesome mums on your own terms!

Tomorrow I will be 72 years old and I hope to never stop growing and learning about how wonderful it is to be a woman at this time. Loved this so much!!! All my babies are grown and have flown the nest… And my youngest daughter is newly pregnant and I think these kind of conversations are so vital to the health and well-being of women everywhere and especially new moms… I think in days long, long gone there were support systems like this where people spoke freely and older women mentored younger women and people talk to openly about the hidden secrets of womanhood and childbearing. I love that you’re bringing back these conversations for a modern age.. love you both and watch both of your shows every single episode.

Oh my gosh, I am literally in tears. The open, deep honesty of your friendship is so beautiful. I wish I could find a mom connection on this level.
When Bec starts talking about her breastfeeding journey it cut me so deep. My almost 1 yr old never latched and it crushed me. I ended up pumping for 5 months and I feel like that made me feel even more disconnected. It made me have postpartum depression/anxiety. I am now pregnant with my 2nd child and have a fear of not experiencing this again. I know it isn’t the end of the world, but for women who want to have that journey and they can’t because of their body, their baby, their circumstances, etc it is heart wrenching.
It is crazy how being a mom you can have the most incredible moments you could ever experience, but you can be so much harder on yourself then you would be with any other human. It is an amazing journey that I am so grateful for no matter if it is a great day or a joy so great day.

I agree being Mom is a rewarding experience. I had 4 daughters. Each one unique. The journey is a long journey and has peaks and valleys just like life. Using your intuition is vital, being open to ideas from other moms is essential and I think teaching kids about picking friends who are like minded is important too because while we raise our children they are still influenced by people they come to meet and build their little world as schools and college or even clubs, sports, external activities shape their lives.
❤. Your children have already seen such a big world 🌎 literally and they will be able to learn so much so they can share too. ❤

Hi there lovely moms! Loved this video! ❤ I found it quite hard to find a community of open honest moms who could share the real ups and downs. Here in the Netherlands we are not very open about feelings.. You have some tips on how to find community? Luckily I meet my neighbor and a few moms from daycare with whom I am able to share openly. It is sooo helpful 🙏🏻♥️

Just beautiful ladies. Enjoy your babies they grow so fast! My boys are 34, 32 and 30 in just a blink of an eye!❤❤❤❤❤

I also really enjoyed listening! Truly a miracle being able to carry life within. Hold tight your days for they do grow up in a blink! Mine are 32 and 30! I’d secretly want just one week with them being little again! Not change a thing, just observe. Then quickly put them right back where they are!🤭

There are so many shades of motherhood. As an adoptive mother, I often understand that feeling of guilt for not being able to breast feed or the feeling of unworthiness

My mother is incredible. I want to say that all mothers are incredible bc I do believe so but after seeing another comment, sadly I do know that some of them aren’t always there for their kids and that love to the dads is absolutely needed to be shouted out to as well. My personal experience, as a 34 year old woman, I would not be who I am without my mother. Not just surface things but deep down to my core. My dad was a jerk, parents divorced at age 15 and he said AWFUL things to me as I was trying to navigate my teen years (the youngest of 4) My mom was crushed, heartbroken that he was being so terrible to me (at 17 years old he left me a vmail calling me a b***h and telling me he was disappointed in the person I became-I was a straight A student who never touched drugs or alcohol and graduated early) as awful as that was, I shook it off bc I knew I was a great person and that was bc my mom always made me feel loved, special, important, strong, and worthy. She’s my best friend and I think that came from the simple basics of just loving your kids for who they are. Showing them unconditional love (which you both are absolutely doing ❤️) and letting them make mistakes and continuing to be there. This is what I truly believe builds the strongest relationship, at least that’s my experience 😊

Am I the only one that doesn’t remember what they felt postpartum?? I remember sleeping, feeding, over and over. It’s all a blur!
Also, I love this so much!
