I am in my 20's and have a lot of wrinkles around my eyes. I used to be embarrassed about them, but then I realized that I probably got them from smiling a lot. That thought has really helped me overcome my insecurity with them. I also have some gray hairs, but have decided they show my wisdom. Everytime I find a new one must mean I am getting wiser. These silly, positive affirmations have really helped me to learn to love my body.

I'm 30 and also have loads of wrinkles around my eyes that really show when I smile. For a while it made me stop smiling as much. Which is ridiculous! Hell yeah we have wrinkles from smiling, because our smiles are shining so bright into the world!

Same thing happened to me! I used to be VERY insecure about not wearing makeup outside, mostly learned from watching the other women in my life have the same dependent relationship with makeup. I decided to not wear it for a week in college because I didn't like how it was controlling my mood. Years later and I don't wear any foundation, concealer, etc. If I'm feeling fancy I will throw on minimal eye makeup, but I don't feel chained to makeup anymore. It has helped my confidence tremendously! :)

Yess!! That’s the biggest shift! Not feeling chained to it or the NEED to wear it but just wearing some whenever we’re want for fun ☺️ makes all the difference!

So I'm not the only one! I love how my skin looks like without foundation. Foundation makes it look like a blank canvas and for my skin colour and tone it's really hard to find a good match. I feel like it hides my beautiful dark skin.

You go girl! You are so beautiful and don't need any makeup at all. I also have severely acne prone skin and gave up makeup many years ago even though I was very insecure about it. We need to have more conversations like this. We need to support all women if they do or don't want to wear makeup. Right now, society tells us that we need to - sometimes it will even affect if a women gets a job or not depending on her profession. This is completely messed up. We need to support the idea that all women are beautiful and no one should feel like they MUST wear makeup for any reason.

I used to be completely makeup free with clear skin like you in this video! But when i started a corporate customer facing job I decided i would wear a full face of makeup to work every day. This turned out to be the worst possible thing for me as i started to get horrific breakouts all over my face. No matter how “right” i did everything, my acne kept getting worse and i kept putting on the makeup to cover it up, and it just became a vicious cycle. I didnt have any confidence to walk outside the house without makeup anymore, even walking around my house was terrifying for me because my family would point out my pimples and the scarring. I couldn’t even bear to look at myself in the mirror. Recently my country went into lockdown and i promised myself i wouldnt wear any makeup for the entire time. To be honest, I didn’t see any improvement and i still kept getting deep cystic painful pimples pop up the entire month. I had zoom meetings with my friends and my colleagues which i was super concerned about so i turned on the blur filter and sat in bad lighting so it was hard to see my skin. Eventually my doctor prescribed me acne medication because it wasnt getting better, but going without makeup has really encouraged me to accept myself for who i am and look at who i am on the inside rather than the outside. I always knew this about my body, so why shouldnt i also feel that way about my face? When you love yourself, your confidence shines through like the sun, and you are glowing just like that in this video 💛

Amen Sister!!! I've went through the same journey. I was wearing makeup even before high school and was super insecure. Especially when NOT wearing makeup was something abnormal. But last year I went solo backpacking and just stopped using makeup. It was simply uncomfortable to have it on my skin and there was no reason for wearing it whatsoever. And I felt GREAT without makeup, and got even more positive attention than usual hahahaha. So yeah, "check with your heart why you're using makeup" because if you want to hide your natural beauty, it is so not worth it!!!

I just do my eyebrows but I’m growing it out and I use a lip liner to shape and make it more toned. I cringe putting makeup on because I don’t want it to see in my pores and cause breakout. I’m accepting my textured skin but it’s clearing up. Love my dark circles and wrinkles

They either look too orange or my skin looks like I’m dying/ashy. I love my skin tone and it’s so unique. I’m glad I came across this video this morning. You are so beautiful! Going makeup free has honestly been the best thing for me. It's been skincare all the way for me. I have so much more time to sleep and not hurry to get ready in the morning. I haven't bought foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer or highlighter in over a year. I just do my eyebrows because they only halfway exist without help :(

Oh my gosh, likewise for every aspect! Absolutely nothing against those who love to wear makeup, it's art, and from time to time on occasions I'll do it for fun too- but in 2017 I was full on makeup, couldn't leave home without it. These days, sometimes I touch up my brows or sometimes do lash extensions, but that's it! Tinted lip balm is my best friend. Focused on water intake, as well as the foods I consume; usually your insides will reflex on the outside when it comes to health. It's SO refreshing not feeling an obligation or pressure to put on a face anymore. This is ME, as I am in my natural state. Take it or leave it! 🤍

I started wearing mascara every day when I was 14, I think. However after a year my eye lids would burn when I had to remove it (I had very very bad painful eczema). So I didn't really have a choice but to stop. That's when I started longing for dark lashes (I'm very blond haha). A year later (final year of high school) the eczema I think didn't really appear on my eyelids anymore, so I started wearing it again, this time with so much colour on my eyelids, I cannot even imagine doing that anymore. I remember the first day of university I had an eye infection, I was a bit embarrassed, but it kind of set the tone of me not caring what my fellow students would think. Last year, when I started studying abroad again, I was so caught up in hard uni stuff, I just grew to reeeally not care. I did like to put some mascara on, even when I went studying sometimes, it just made me feel a bit more awake. But I just know friends don't care, and the people who do care I don't care for. I think in the end I'd worn mascara maybe half of the time I was going somewhere. I've never used foundation or anything, even though I would always have a pimple, simply bc I just know my skin would hate me for it. And I also don't like how 'too clean' it looks, even when applied properly, it's so far off from a real face or sth. I'm totally with you on focussing on how to keep my skin good with the food and water I take in! I still break out, but it's just idk, human nature.

    • @RayaWasHere
      @RayaWasHere  3 года назад +4

Yes!! I totally agree, reading this made me think about how powerful it is to go out as a woman with a breakout and no makeup - to be normalizing anything but ‘perfect, flawless skin’! How powerful if we all just showed who we naturally are ☺️

I didn't really wear makeup throughout my school years.
Only on special occasions I'd use mascara, eyeliner, lip balm or lipstick & that was it. So why did I feel the need to wear makeup when I went my whole high school years wearing nothing?
I knew something was up when I started to feel like I needed makeup. Just seeing social media with alot of people wearing makeup/our favorite influencers & celebrities.
I felt the need to do it too.
I'm learning to only do it for myself when I just want to enhance my natural authentic self. Makeup is very expressive & I've grown to love it while also remembering I don't need it to feel worthy. I'm my most comfortable self wearing lip balm & sweatpants - Literally my 2020 aesthetic. Now I just go by however I'm feeling that day.
If I wanna wear makeup I'll do it for me & only me because I'm worthy of my self love.
Plus I wanna look like I'm in Euphoria sometimes lol🙌🏽💙🤷🏽‍♀️😗

I think I understand you. I *love* makeup but I can go for weeks sometimes without wearing any. The hangup is when people start wearing it for the wrong reasons - not that anyone should be judged for wanting to use it to feel more secure, far from it. But no one should be telling people they should be wearing it. It's such an individual choice at the end of the day.

As a very very pale older woman with blotchy skin and blonde eyelashes I find I need to wear some kind of makeup otherwise people ask me if I am sick. So I use Ilia to bring a natural look to my face. Very little goes a long way.

@@RayaWasHere I just have a light foundation and a multistick for cheeks and lips plus mascara. By the way you present yourself on your videos and the friends that you have, I feel safe to say that you seem to be a beautiful person inside. I have always thought you were beautiful on the outside. You have traveled. You know amazing quality people. You seem to care alot about others. Keep working on seeing yourself as your loved ones see you. I am 55 and spent a good amount of those years worrying about what others thought about me and that I was never good enough. I lost my wonderful brother to aggressive brain cancer 3 years ago. Life is too precious and too short to not love yourself and to worry what others are thinking about you.

I want an opinion, from anyone…
i never wore makeup.. I’m 20, some days ago i bought some basic makeup i think.. like one from everything i might need, foundation included… Speaking of foundation i found exactly nearly the same as my color…
Anyway.. Is makeup bad? I have also some pimples, will it get worse? I just wanted to do makeup to try something new i wasn’t used… but I don’t know, what do you think?
Will the skin change texture or will the skin be bad after sometime?

    I don’t wear makeup anymore... it’s been about 2 years I guess.
Every time I wore makeup I was sure to have bad break outs the following week and HUGE headaches at the end of the day... maybe it was because of the quality of the makeup ?
I also can’t use eyeshadow properly for the life of me 😂 I can barely see with my right eye (and not really good with my left but if I’m close enough to a mirror I guess it’s okay...) so I’d start doing my right eye... mostly okay... then start doing my left annnnnd I usually had to start over and over because it didn’t look remotely the same from the other eye lol even start with the left, it always a complete mess so most of the time I ended up taking off the eyeshadow altogether 🤷‍♀️ same for eyeliner... the only thing I can put on is mascara and some of them gave me headaches !
I’m considering doing semi-permanent mascara and enjoy lipstick or gloss from time to time ^^
To clean my face, I simply use a washcloth during my shower (every morning 😬). I only use it for my face and change it every time and only use soap maybe once or twice a week!
I sometimes use Hazelnut oil on my face to hydrate it and that’s it

That’s something else I didn’t bring up! Not only is covering up breakouts bad because we’re not letting them breathe but wearing makeup can totally LEAD to breakouts! (I haven’t heard of headaches.. maybe you were allergic to come thing?)

Hey beautiful 1. U definitely have no reason to wear makeup .most woman wearing make up usually are hiding something i think most woman who don't wear makeup lack confidence.because of the stigma wat societies protray a woman a certain way .most woman's should luv them self the way they are .by luving them self taking care of there skin .beauty is on the inside not the outside. Most woman are beautiful ,just being who they are confident and having that natural look and the way u feel about ur self will make u feel 10× better about ur self .u got too luv ur self first .before everything else will fall into place . beautiful .1 🌺😊
