    I'm active duty, USAF. Our civilian force is our most powerful weapon. Any enemy that would dare test America won't find the greatest threat in the skies or on the seas, the greatest threat for them will come from the neighborhoods. A lot of us are very well trained and feel immense pride in our nation, despite what the news/social media say.

      Government taking your guns is b.s. scare tactics for a bunch of reasons before anyone fires a shot. Remember Clinton was supposedly going to take your guns and then Obama was supposedly going to take your guns and finally Biden was supposedly going to take your guns. In the case of Obama, all he tried to do was prohibit selling guns to people on the the no fly list, and he was legally blocked. I would recommend something to my gun loving friends. Don't worry, there are absolutely no plans for someone trying to take away everyone's guns because it's politically, legally and practically impossible. But, did you know the guy who killed 7 people at a 4th of July parade in Highland Park Illinois had been reported to the police for wanting to kill himself and other people just 6 months prior. Then six months later his Dad who had done the reporting, signed a consent to allow the purchase. I'm sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners who see that as a problem and those are the folks that need to point the way.

      @@AlexanderWinterborn-r6p but the argument isn't that a bunch of randos with guns could fight and win a conventional civil war against the side with tanks and jets and nukes. the argument is that any type of tyrannical regime could not maintain order. how are you going to round up all the political dissidents when there are millions of them with guns and green tip? you can't be everywhere at all times with jets and tanks. i'm also not saying that a bid to cause chaos and regime failure would succeed (though i'm not saying it wouldn't either) but i'd sure as hell rather be armed than not!

      If the founding fathers had intended the citizens to not have firearms then why did they allow citizens to possess firearms.The 2nd amendment speaks of a well regulated malitia for keeping security of a free state,then there is a comma.A comma is placed there to separate ideas or even alter the structure of the sentence.Which then states the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.its speaking of two separate things.the fact that from the founding of the nation citizens were allowed to possess the same firearms that the military used should be proof of what was intended.And of course being able to understand sentence structure helps also.

      And to those who say if a civil war breaks out one side would have rifles and the other side would have jets and tanks,well they are ignorant.It would be very similar to the civil war of 1861-1865.The states that seceed would keep any armaments in their possession,not to mention that most firearms companies have moved their factories to so called red states.Half of the U.S. military personnel would choose one side or the other.Both sides would possess tanks,jets, artillery, rockets etc.And it would be extremely bloody.

I have my lights hooked up to apps, so if the dogs go on alert, I light up everything. Grab the phone, grab the self defense, and go let the dogs out and check all the entry points.

    Our gun rights are not for hunting and home defense. Our gun rights were drafted to stop a tyrannical government. America was founded by people that escaped other countries in the world, fleeing from forms of government and monarchies that were ruled by few, who ruled over and dominated the majority, and nobody could fight back. Those who refused to live by the yoke of slavery and domination, boarded ships and sailed into the unknown. They knew they would probably die on the trip to America, but death was better than slavery, and they took the risk. When they arrived, they began the framework for a free society, by the people and for the people. The first amendment is the freedom of speech. The second amendment is the right to bear arms. Guns were the second most important of all rights for a good reason. When a government disarms a populous, it's game over.

      my personal preference is AR pistol with a promag drum filled with 556 hollow points. the drum is very reliable and provides high capacity so that running out of rounds or really just the THOUGHT of running out of rounds would not be an inhibition/impediment and there would be no risk of an untimely magazine swap. the pistol makes it much more navigable around corners without compromising accuracy at shorter distances. the AR gives you extreme precision so you don't strike unintended targets. the hollow points prevent over-penetration while simultaneously expending tremendous stopping power (given the extreme velocity of 556). if i had the time, i'd also strap on a glock 17 with hollow points and tritium night sights just in case there were a jam on the AR. g17 because high capacity and extreme precision, like the AR.

    Im 53 years old, been around guns since I was a kid. My dad was a fed and he reloaded his own ammo back in the day. I learned how to reload ammo by the time I was about 10. Currently I have 2 guns: my grandfathers 12 gauge pump shotgun that stays loaded in my bedroom closet, and a Glock 20 (10mm handgun). The thing with ammo is you have to consider its lethal range. A little ol .22 "pea shooter" is actually lethal up to a mile away! Thats a tiny, very light bullet. It goes far. On the other hand a .45acp caliber bullet is big and heavy. It wont go as far and will start to drop almost immediately upon leaving the barrel. You also have to consider the bullet type (hollowpoints vs full metal jacket) you want to use and why. A hollowpoint bullet will expand or "mushroom back" immediately, causing less penetration especially with heavy outerwear. A full metal jacket is a pointy tipped bullet and will expand much slower allowing deeper penetration, and possibly hitting an unintended target behind the intended. Guns and ammo can be overwhelming for some. Probably the best starting point to learn is a 9mm semi-auto handgun, a .357magnum revolver, a 12 gauge shotgun, an AR-15 (known as the evil "assault rifle", shoots 5.56 ammo), and your dads old 30-06 bolt action deer rifle (which can blow a hole through an elephants ass!!). RULE ONE: Do not put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to put a hole in something. You rest your finger in a pointing manner along the side of the frame of the gun. This applies to each and every type of gun ever made, from the pea shooter to the deer rifle.

      No they can't. Most Americans don't own a gun or have ever fired one. That's because most of the population live in big cities where owning and practicing with a gun is a huge hassle.
      Most civvies can't afford to train to this level. This guy has fired 10's of thousands of expensive rounds. When it comes to the military and police most of them never train to this level either. Most people in the military never fire a weapon again after basic training. Only about 10-15% of the military engage in combat. Everyone else is in a noncombat support role. Most donut eaters don't fire their weapon anymore than they have to stay certified.
      According to PEW Research only about 4 out of 10 adults in the US claim to live in a household with a gun. Only 32% claim to personally own one. Only 45% Repub and 20% Dem claim firearm ownership. I live in a rural neighborhood of about 35 houses only 6 of us have guns and train to any degree.

    Being protected cheap is better than not at all while you’re trying to save up.
    That collection of his right there is honestly wayyyyyyyy out of reach for a lot of people.
    You can get good group of 3 of those for well under $2000. A good pump 12 gauge Mossberg, a 9mm Walther PDP is in the $500-$700 range and has a phenomenal trigger right out of the box. And you can get a good beginner AR chambered in 556 for $600-$800.
    And that’s honestly all you need to be able to handle some business. And that’s about the most affordable caliber munitions you can get your hands on that’s actually going to do the job.

    @marksmith4892 13 дней назад

    Yass & Fats, also, remember when he made that comment about wobbling the gun around trying to find the red dot? You interpreted that to mean a LASER POINTER, but that's not what he was referring to. If you look closely at that 9mm handgun then you can see that the sight on the top looks like a small window. That is a new aiming device called an "optic". The way it works is that you peer into the window and see a red dot but it's not a laser striking a wall somewhere. the dot is only in the window itself. prior to these, if you wanted to use the iron sights then you had to close one eye to line up the sights with the other eye, but now with these optics you can keep both eyes open. everybody praises these things but personally if you're talking about serious self-defense tactics then i think the iron sights are still best for precisely the reason that guy stated: you have to wobble the gun around until you can catch that stupid red dot in the window. when you're in a fight-or-flight panic you're not going to have the discipline and fine motor skills to be fumbling around with that shit! you're going to use muscle memory, and that means, repeated training with the good old fashioned iron sights. now they have a certain type of iron sight made out of tritium and this is a material with a half life of like a billion years and it glows in the dark so that you never need batteries but you can always use your tritium sights in the dark without giving away your position.
