    Thank you for sharing this pattern.
    I made two hats for now. For the first one I made 44 stiches and used 9 mm needles. The hat turned out to be small.. like for a toddler. So for the second one I took 10 mm needles and made 48 stiches. Now it's my size. (for a woman).

      Honestly, now I've made a few of the beanies. Later I started to knit not that tight and now 44 stiches with 9 mm is fine as well.

  • @stephanied4591
    @stephanied4591 5 лет назад +2

    You don't say the length of the round needles which is also important, having gone and purchased 9mm round needles at the store and casting on 44 stitches only to find myself with a 29in round needle set and the stitches not coming up to the other side like it did for you. Did not know, could possibly use to make a infinity scarf to practice the kneading stitches but was looking to make a hat, oops.

    • @STSbestfriends
      @STSbestfriends 5 лет назад +3

      Knitting a hat uses 16 inch circular needles. OR you can use a longer circular needle and lesrn the magic loop.
      But like 99% of all patterns for knitting an adult sized hat requires 16 inch circular needles........

    • @stephanied4591
      @stephanied4591 5 лет назад

      @@STSbestfriends My local store only sells the longer sets, so I made due and just pulled the needle string through for hats. I made three of these before moving to other projects. This hat was the first thing I've ever knitted....as a complete novice you can't expect I'd know that till after I started. Thanks for your reply though!!!!

    • @barbararickman8543
      @barbararickman8543 5 лет назад +4

      Experiment. Also, calculate the stitch gauge from what is on the ball band. If your stitch gauge is, say, 6 stitches to 1 inch and you measure the head of the person you are knitting for, then use that 6 stitches to 1 inch and calculate. Head is 16 inches around as an example. 6 x 16 is your cast on for the brim. Also, do a gauge swatch. Knit with the needles and yarn you want to use. Count the stitches per inch in the gauge swatch. Swatch should be 25 stitches and at least 4 to 5 inches wide.

    Dani I! I’m sorry. There was a round when you knitted only one of each color and then continued with the three plus one. My hearts were not evenly spaced on my hat because I did this but only once. Do I use this one of each technique on every third row?

    • @CJDesignblog
      @CJDesignblog  3 года назад

      Yes! So one row will be knit 3 of the main colour and then 1 white. The next would be: knit 1 of the main colour, 1 white, then 3 of the main colour and so on :)
