Ex-Transaero Now USAF 747-8i First Flight at Paine Field

  • This 747-8 Intercontinental was built for Transaero in 2015 and rolled out last August. However, with the collapse of the company and Aeroflot's unwillingness to take up the order, this 747-8i and another were left to be stored at Paine Field, painted in all white.
    Many suspected that they would be used for spare parts for the, at the time, slowing 747 production line, or scrapped entirely, but one thing was certain, Boeing was struggling to find a home for them.
    Well in the wake of the Iran Air deal last month, one of these 747s has been pulled out of storage and prepped for flight, and some sources state that she is aimed at Iran Air, yet there is no confirmation as of now. Although deliveries for Iran Air's 747-8s will not begin until late 2018, these 747s are being readied for the desert where they will wait, fully licensed, until Iran Air can take them.
    UPDATE August 2017: The Iran Air 747 order fell through when U.S. Congress specifically denied the 747 frames last fall for fear of nuclear weapons transportation, which is a bad claim, but it's the deal they made, so only 777s have been ordered for the long haul Boeing fleet. These two Transaero 747-8i NTUs have now been contracted by the USAF to become the new VC-25 replacements. The frames have never been delivered, and are unrelated to Russia other than that a private Russian company had ordered them years before.
    It should also be mentioned that this particular 747 was readied so quickly for flight, as it was the canvas of Boeing's centennial laser show at Boeing Field on July 15th through 17th, 2016.
    AIRCRAFT INFO:
    Registration: N895BA
    Construction No: 42417
    Line No: 1523
    Variable No: RC077
    Type: B747-8M5(i)
    Powerplant: 4x GEnx-2B67
    First Flight: July 8th, 2016
    This Flight: July 8th, 2016
    NOTICE: Until either company states otherwise, I will treat this 747 as if she is for Iran Air, and make adjustments later if it turns out not to be.

      Nearly 50 years! The 747 - 100 came together in 1969. The first time I flew one was with Pan Am from Tokyo to LA in 1971. When entering, I thought it was a waiting room, certainly not an airplane!

      Alex P ...I still remember where I was the first time I saw one...we where playing ball in a large open field in line with JFK..approach...22R....about 7miles out....my brother looked up and said there it is...! We had talked about it a few hours earlier....my brother had the classic pic of the pan-am 747 parked along side the 707...
      Holy Shit!...look at the size of it..back then...the biggest thing in the Sky was a stretch DC-8...to me it looked like it was barely moving....gear down with some flaps...Big Beautiful Pan Am Jumbo...white with a blue stripe...i will Never forget it...

      I read UPS just ordered 14 brand new 747-8F's... So they should b around for the next 20 years at least...👍

    This is the first VC-25B for the USAF's Air Force One Recapalization Program, which will see the two VC-25A's be retired, and be replaced by the new VC-25B. This video shows Boeing conducting general airworthy flight tests, just to see if there's anything wrong with the jet, after being pulled out of storage, before they start the VC-25B conversion work.

    It needs to be stated that this video is 8 months old, and at the time of publishing, Iran Air had placed an unofficial order, which included 4 747-8i aircraft. In order to obtain congressional approval, the 747-8 had to be removed from the order.
    No part of the description spoke in certainty, and all information is/was subject to change.
    Iran Air will NOT be accepting the 747-8 into their fleet, and the final and official order does NOT include 747s per congressional request.

    • @alexp3752
      @alexp3752 6 лет назад

      I am not sure a larger engine would work for the 747. More than likely facilities would have to be made for longer landing gear struts which would require extensive fuselage and wing box modifications. This would be cost-prohibitive .

      wewd They were built for Transaero using TRX’s internal customer ID, they had Russian hex codes, they had TRX’s hardware options installed and used the RC block assigned to Transaero with the original LOI. Not having been paid for doesn’t change anything. A 777 flying test flights before contractual delivery/handover to Aeroflot is still an Aeroflot 777 in my and everyone else’s book. Also both RC076 and RC077 were delivered to the US government a few years ago.

    • @LJDRVR
      @LJDRVR 6 лет назад +1

      First off all, as you say, it was THEIR money. If the situation was reversed, you'd be screaming like a stuck pig. The decision to give them back their money was part of a deal negotiated not by Obama, but by our government, and the governments of every other permanent member of the UN Security Council, many of which are stanch U.S. allies. Iran has billions of dollars, that's why they were even able to have a nuclear program. Lastly, the people who chant "death to America" are not the Iranians this framework was erected with. Those nut jobs, like you, hate the deal. The Principalists don't want it because it because it stops their nuclear program dead in it's tracks and allows foreign investment and engagement in Iran, weakening them and strengthening the reformists. How does it feel to have been conned so badly that you are arguing the same position as the Ayatollas and Islamists you hate?

      If the Iranian dictatorship would stop trying to build nuclear weapons and stop being sponsors of terrorism, I'm sure that they would be able to sell aircraft to them.

    Iran has not bought any 747's. This is wrong.

      Chris Danns The video and the description are not incorrect. At the time of its publication, Iran Air had a drafted order, pending congressional approval which included 4 747-8i frames. However the only way to get it approved mandated that the 747 be dropped from the order which was finalized in January.
      The description may be out of date however it is not incorrect given the time of publication.
      It should be noted that the 747 ACT and the MMR from the week of its B1 showed both frames under an Iranian CID for approximately 2 weeks, and they have since transferred to Boeing ownership.
