This is actually very quiet for a high thrust turbofan.
Yes, quieter than the GE90.

At full throttle, the 9x sounds almost identical to the 90 at half throttle. Astounding!

@OXI it is, the ge90 has a diameter of 135 inches while the ge9x is 134 inches. the ge90 can go upto 115000lbfs of thrust while the ge9x can only go upto 110000lbfs.
@OXI The ge9x has done it but it is only rated for 110000lbfs of thrust. the engine isnt guaranteed to give you 134000lbfs of thrust. also the interior of the ge9x is 134 inches while the ge90-115b is 135 inches and the 737-800 has a max fuselage diameter of 148 inches.

Reason why it’s sounds soft is because it hardly even close to using full power when takeoff
If there would be a Rolls-Royce engine option for the 777X, it would be called the Trent 8000, which is basically a modified A380 Trent 900 engine, since it has the same number of 24 fan blades. But, the fan itself will be based off the Trent 1000 design, made out of composites, lighter and quieter than the A380 engine. And of course, it'll be the Trent 800's successor!

Quieter with 134300 lbs of thrust and the GE90 has 115000 lbs of thrust and is louder

To me, that does not even look like a 777 to me anymore. It just looks like some outright exaggerated interpretation of a twin jet wide body airliner.

I can't ever like commercial jets as much as military and classic types, they all look bland and the same. But I can appreciate the stand out ones, and the 777 is definitely that.

Those planes are huge. And those engines are massive too. It's insane how big everything is. This is probably the largest single deck passenger plane out there or at least the most advanced and beefy.
What about the A350-1000? That’s not a puny airframe and with much more reliable RR power plant

Can you imagine the thrust and speed it would have if they put a third engine on top at the tail somehow like a DC-10.
That is not how it works. Aside from having to totally redesign the aircraft for the weight in the tail, it is already limited by Mach number. It isn't designed to work in the transonic region, there is a lot more to making a supersonic jet than just slapping bigger engines onto a subsonic. And the 777 is already nudging transonic speeds. It probably already has enough power to go faster if it could. That sounds like something I thought of when I was like 12.

I wonder what the startup and idle sounds like, 0:00 was spool-up and not idle. The GENX has a very prominent idle sound while the GE90 is known for startup and spool-up, not idling.
at least it's not quiet like the Gẽn on the 787, I was on the 787 GenX once, it was kinda scary when it's too quiet, great job with the new 777, Boeing !!

But even a fairly cheap phone (~$300) can out preform a decent quality dedicated pocket camera.
Its really just a matter of time before they compete with professional cameras (in daylight conditions)
