I was thinking about a picture you posted to social media months ago showing your family room/dining room with the MANY different things every person was doing within that one space. You posted it to show the impact of current events happening in your home. I was so inspired by the post! To show the day-to-day...the REAL stuff happening. I feel like those moments make scrapbooking impactful.
This is how I've approached my entire life, since starting to journal at age 11, and then getting my first camera. ❤❤ 😍❤❤ I love your way of talking about story & scrapbooking so SO much Ali. You just rock! Xoxo / a long time fan
I totally get what you are saying and feel that this approach to my Project Life is what has made it so meaningful and wonderful to have as a keepsake. For example, because of strict COVID restrictions where I live, I don’t get to see my grown kids in person. They text me all the time, though, and I get tons of tidbits of info that I probably wouldn’t get under normal circumstances. They send me photos ALL the time of their cats and their dinners and their new purchases and I have so much enjoyed printing out a lot of this info and including it it my album, writing about it, comparing the cats (!) etc. When I look back, it is really a snippet into my kids’ lives that I can actually share in even though we all live apart and can’t gather together. It has made my Project Life a treasure chest for me!
I love this series, Ali, and look forward to a new video each week. Thank you for taking the time to put them together. I started my scrapbooking journey with a story focus and it transitioned into just enjoying the art process. A majority of my layouts during that time have no words. In the past couple years, I've transitioned back into the story lens of scrapbooking. I don't care if my son keeps my scrapbooks. I scrapbook for me, but I honestly think if there is anything he will keep-it will be the albums that he feels connected to by the stories that are told. When I create projects now that is the question I ask myself...would I feel a stronger connection to my mom, grandma, great-grandma if they had made this? I would LOVE the see a Project Life album that previous generations made-to see what was happening in their weekly/monthly lives, or to read tidbits of their lives. What a treasure and a gift that would be!!! Thank you for making the products to help us document our lives and sharing your life with us in such an authentic way. You've helped pave the way to showing me how I can do this in an easy way!
YES! I call that "past perspective" when we think about what we wish we knew and then use that to inform the stories we choose to tell. I also think there are seasons with scrapbooking just like everything else where one piece or another of the process feels more fun or interesting or exciting - even then we can still start with story.
Fantastic in-depth of "lens of story". For me, was best "Craft the Story" yet. You've mentioned "lens" many times in projects, but this is first time I understood it. I love this hyper-focused approach to help me decide on stories I want, or need, to tell at the moment. Helped me understand how to narrow down to long or short stories, or even a few words, using the lens that is relevant in this chapter or situation of my life. I'll be applying this philosophy whole-heartedly! Thank you.
I spent the first few minutes worrying about the coffee sloshing around in your cup! Very relieved when you set it down. My sister and her husband are both named Kelly - we call them Kelly Girl and Kelly Boy. Another great video - thank you!
I love this Friday series of videos! Can't wait every Friday. Love this one today particularly. I paused memory keeping practice some years ago because of 2 little kids and lack of me-time but I can't wait to get into it again since some months now and your videos are so inspiring!
I think, when we tell our story, in language, when we go back to visit it - we’re not tossed around by the emotions as much. Because now language has come on the scene and kinda organized what happened in our story. And people who never tell their stories are more disruptive. Because they haven’t put order to their stories.
Another great video! Thanks for listening to my feedback last week on the volume differences. This week's video the music was much more even in volume compared with the rest of the video. I could definitely tell the improvement and didn't have to adjust my volume. :)
I thoroughly enjoy your videos, but today I was so distracted because I LOVE you cardigan. I then spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find it online. Can I ask where it's from?

I loved that photo. We've got a lot of people hanging out when everyone is here - loved capturing that.

Mug + sweater + tee shirt message = Ali, love your aesthetic! ✨✨ two seconds in and already pumped for your message today!
Great series. As you spoke the story of my week fell into place. I didn't put the lenses on as the week started, but so glad for your prompting.
Love reading that.

I got it at Nordstrom Rack a number of years ago! I looked to see if I could find it before sharing this video but I couldn't find it either.
