    Canyon should offer more customization. No option to select crank length, stem length, gears [only a 10-30 cassette option (SRAM) and no mention what the size of the chainrings are]. The flared drops should be selectable as well. They offer good value but if you have to replace all those parts (some of which are proprietary) it will set you back as much as the SL8, Dogma, Madone, ..., but you'd at least have the bike that fits you best!

    • @ynie1
      @ynie1 Месяц назад +29

      To be fair, that would be a logistical challenge. You would need to stock tons of parts at the distribution center instead of at their HQ in Germany, and would need to train up lots of more techs at those centers. It would greatly drive up the prices unfortunately. But I agree, this is why I’m not buying a canyon anytime soon, I would need to change out lots of the parts to get my fit and it would be cheaper to go the frameset route.

    If they allow customers to choose the stem length and crank-arm length (or make the damn stem easily changeable) they'd sell way more of these. Would also be nice to be choose chainring and size, cassette size, and rear der cage type
    They should swtich to finishing assembly when bikes are ordered. It doesn't need to add much cost if they do it right - and might actually reduce their costs rather than increasing

Love them or hate them, but Zipp454s are arguably at the peak of available production wheelsets costing $4200USD retail, add another $4200 for a Red groupset with PM, then the other accessories and you're almost getting a frame for free.

In the USA, the top end SRAM Red Aeroad does come stock with 454's and that build is in stock selling for $10,499USD. It can be quite frustrating seeing Canyon selling preferred builds or paint colors in other countries that they refuse to import/sell to your own country. For example, Canyon does not offer that clip on bar accessory for this or the Grail and has no plans to sell it, but I can cross the border to Canada and buy that same accessory and historically in the USA they have only offered plain black when other countries have more colorful options for the same groupset.

      The aero position will be on the hoods. if you have made the hoods position narrow, it makes sense to flare the drops for better control on the technical sections when you would use the drops and no bothered about any aero advantage.
