Because she will compete at the world stage flying South African flag. But that doesn't mean she can't show she is proud of her heritage as well. It seems that there may be an issue with Nigerians that underlies this situation. Still, rather than entertaining that possibility, it is what the laws of SA state that make the major difference, and the chief issue is whether or not Chidimma was legally a citizen of South Africa at the time of the relevant decision.
How must she be considered South African if the records of SA Home Affairs have already revealed that her mother stole the identity of a South African woman over twenty years back to secure SA citizenship? Remember in SA you dont obtain citizenship by being born in the country but by being born of a parent who is a South African. Having said that, South Africans are supporting Chidima in Miss World Nigeria in recognition of the fact that the girl is born in SA, she speaks only their languages, and her social and cultural identity is South African. Even her travel passport it South African, so lets allow SA to support her because even though not a SA citizen, she is their girl

Please familiarise yourself with the South African law as being born in South Africa alone does not qualify one to be a South Africa. The law provides that when a person is born in South Africa of 2 foreign parents with legal permanent residency, the child may apply for citizenship when attaining maturity. In this case, Chidinma is born of 2 illegal immigrants that commited identity fraud to register their child. Please stop condoning crime as we South Africans abhor it.
This has nothing to do with race ms anchor. The contest organisers had a duty to inform the public based on the outcry. The organisers had no reason to assume she had a fraudulently obtained the ID, that is why they then approached HA to confirm, this even, was done following information that her mother is Mozambican and her father Nigerian. The timeframe within which the father claims they moved to South Africa and her subsequent birth do not align with her age. Your research is as flawed as your objectivity as a lawyer. No amount of sophistry will exempt Nigerians from rolling up their sleeves, working hard and bringing their country up to par. If this happens, then Africa will offer seamless, borderless opportunities to all its citizens regardless of ethnic origins. Clearly as a lawyer u should have done more research . You yourself can’t even explain the many ways one can be South African u say one of those is “being born in South Africa and the bunch of others” u didn’t do a good job in researching Ms lawyer.
If you did research u would know that if none of your parents is South African you don’t become SA’n by default.
Let’s you are bragging that she is now invited to enter Miss universe Nigeria let’s see if she wins Nigerians will not complain and claim that she’s not one of you

Being born in SA does not make you a South african ,you have to have atleast one South African parent ,in Chis case non of her Parents are South African, because if her mother was she would have not needed to commit identity theft
You studied law backdoor shame. This is not emotional issue its immigration issues
Guys even the reporting on citizenship was wrong if you have a permanent residence permit as a parent your child assumes what the parent has ( permanent residency doesnt mean you SA it means you can open a bank account, do business, and get other benefits) naturalisation gives you citizenship in SA.
Fellow Africans need to realise that being born in SA doesn't qualify one as a SA citizen. Citizenship has to be acquired LEGALLY by parents of children born within our borders...stolen identity is not only a crime to the state, but we deem it as a great injustice and insult to our people.
I don't hear them talking about the Girl whose identity was stolen
Nigeria should gladly welcome Chidimma as their own. Her father is from Nigeria, and she is proudly a Nigerian.
What kind of lawyer is this? She said she has researched about SA citizenship laws and found out that Adetshina is a South African, girl bye.
Where did you get your LLB? South African laws are clear how 1 becomes a citizen.
Stop lying through your teeth about our country's laws .
Adetshina mother stole someone's IDENTITY and their kids suffered for 23.
Adetshina benefited from a crime .
Our home affairs should investigate thoroughly and all that participated in that fraudulent party be prosecuted.
Adetshina benefited from a fraudulent identity
So you guys are ignoring a very important thing, her parents committed a fraud here
and to most of us, it was clear. Most migrants are illegal in SA, they either buy or steal someone identity.
The level of deceit peddled in this page is comical to say the least
You should be talking about Identity theft that was allegedly committed by Chidima’s mom . She was not born here. Don’t you even see the flag she painted on herself. She identifies herself as Nigerian

Whatever documents she has ate illegal. She publicised her Nigerian and Mozambique flags all by herself.
That's her heritage, so she has the liberty to do that. Joshua is a British Nigerian who represents Britain and always fly Nigerian flag. Why do you find it so difficult to accommodate. The world is a global village, learn to live freely.
@@tonero8562you cannot represent a country while you embrace other two nationalities and especially when you want to become miss of the certain country. Where does her loyalty fall from....
@@tonero8562 I'm South African, and I agree with this. There's nothing wrong with Chidima being proud of her heritage, however her mistake was in trying to use our platforms to showcase this pride, in a country where no 1 relates with any of the languages or cultures she's representing, and this is what S.An's initially had qualms with.
@@TshepoTaboo I just gave you an instant now. And there are so many instances. Please don't say you can't because it's actually happening all over the world.
@@tshepishochuene1280 I think I understand your point here. That your issue is her trying to show that she is proud of her heritage and it seems like she value those places more than SA. Well the fact still remains that there is no way she would win that competition without flying South African flag. In fact she will automatically becomes the pride of SA to the world. Because she will compete at the world stage flying South African flag. But that doesn't mean she can't show she is proud of her heritage as well. I think this is a mere misunderstanding here and the people that started this saga never thought it through before taking it to the public.
But in honesty, Chidimma is more SA than any other of her heritage. Because that's where she has spent most of her life time, her schooling and upbringing, even the cultural aspects. Just think about these.
Her father needs to come out and put more light on this. What's her surname? What combo is Chidimma Adetshina? Igbo/Yoruba. The Yoruba name is not even spelt correctly. Something is not adding up. I feel for this girl. If she's truly Nigerian, she should participate in our pageantry.
As a South African i feel sorry for the other born n bred Nigerian girls who must compete with a fraudster

Nigerian don't care shit about you also the world don't belong to anybody. It is within your right to choose who to love or hate. 😅😅
It seems that there may be an issue with Nigerians that underlies this situation. Still, rather than entertaining that possibility, it is what the laws of SA state that make the major difference, and the chief issue is whether or not Chidimma was legally a citizen of South Africa at the time of the relevant decision.
That's your cup of tea?

How must she be considered South African if the records of SA Home Affairs have already revealed that her mother stole the identity of a South African woman over twenty years back to secure SA citizenship? Remember in SA you dont obtain citizenship by being born in the country but by being born of a parent who is a South African.
Having said that, South Africans are supporting Chidima in Miss World Nigeria in recognition of the fact that the girl is born in SA, she speaks only their languages, and her social and cultural identity is South African. Even her travel passport it South African, so lets allow SA to support her because even though not a SA citizen, she is their girl

You are guaranteed life sentence with this one. She's beautiful though.😅
I loveeee that lawyer,I mean I see the tears from SA in the comment section and I am beyond happy, Nigeria love you chidinma ❤❤❤
Don't blame the organisers, blame her mother for allowing her child in possession of a fraudulently obtained ID.
ANYWAY, MS LAWYER MUST GO ATTEND LAW SCHOOL AGAIN AND STOP PUTTING HER EMOTIONS IN LAWS.
what is even funny is that Nigerian people are also saying that her names wouldn't allow her to compete in Nigeria cause they are from two opposite tribes.
Respect our laws and there shall be a meeting of minds.
