We are going to take a look at the features and things you can do in this game. Hope you enjoy the video
Tested on VMWare Wokstation

This game was the bomb back in the day some where I still have a cd of it but its rather scratched sadly lol
Peyton Lutz no, more like Vyond 2.0!
@AeizzatToha *DON’T TALK ABOUT IT*
P.S Vyond is bassically Go Animate
Wish we could go back to those good old days
It's only fitting since McZee is voiced by the G-Man.
I feel sick to my stomach knowing my 3D Movie Maker videos are lost to time.
I played this for hundreds of hours. One of my favorite tricks was to make expanding blood by deflating a red sphere hidden in the character's body, halfway in the ground.
Yes!! I did that too! I used the exploding sphere for blood splattering also lol
Same. Or turn the letters L and F into guns, then make the exploding yellow sphere look like gun fire.
So many great tricks, I've been uploading my old movies recently.
Haha and the comic sans font.. the cherry on the cake. Ohh the mid 90's!
Nice to see you were here too at one point in time. I have probably seen your comment years ago but didn't know your content. Take care man and glad to see you living the dream.
This font was created specifically for this program!
no way lol
Man the 90s sound fun
old comment
Someone needs to seriously bring this program back
there is still fan made updates
Rubbe Where do I find these fan updates?
Hugo Bross Thanks

@@GrandMasterLynx I think there’s a website that is dedicated to this and they have mods where you can download characters n stuff
Fun Fact: That purple bloke, McZee was voiced by Mike Shapiro, also voiced Gman from Half-Life series.
I guess he was everywhere back then lmao
very cool info thx
The G-man is always. Wake up and .... smell the ashes....
I knew there was something sinister about McZee
also voiced Barney from Half Life too
Rise and shine, Mr Freeman... Time to make a movie...
So many memories! The cheesy characters and backgrounds. I played this a lot as a kid.
This is the most violently 90's thing I've ever seen.
bro i was born in 2004 and i used this when i was a kid so 90s and early 2000s
@@yesthen2704 so you used it before you were born? Impressive
Oh yes, I've been uploading my old movies and they REEK of 90's love
Just looking at McZee's home, I see:
- Houseplant near CRT monitor
- Ergonomic keyboard
- Congas
- Art deco revival meets crayons and coloring pencils aesthetic
- Dark red things. So many dark red things
It's like someone boiled down the decade
All my movies had lasers and explosions.
I like lasers and explosions.
Are you Michael Bay?
@@piotrmazek540 when did michael bay ever use lasers?
This is unbarley cool!
Same here. Sometimes i would review my own movies and i would come to the conclusion: This bad boy needs more lasers. And more explosions!

This game was fucking great, spent hours making random shit back in the day. Don't know why they can't make a modern version of this... oh sure, there are CGI programs, but those are for filmmaking professionals, not someone who wants to slap together something random.
One that would look good would be very hard to make.
I wish that SFM was like this
Not any harder than 3dmm was to make. It would just use modern graphics. 3dmm, while cartoony, had a pretty good model for making short movies.
Uh... The Movies by Lionhead?
You actually didn't have nearly the same control with scenes in The Movies as you did 3D Movie Maker. Admittedly The Movies had better graphics, more scene options, far superior character creation ... but 3D Movie Maker gave you freedom to place characters wherever you wanted to, put whatever objects in any scenes you like, defy physics all you'd like, etc.
It really annoying that not many firms capitalized on this concept for movie making. I loved this game so much and been making movie of it for year. it was straightforward and engaging. Now most of we have are just studio building and complicated graphic engine stuff for movie making. 3dmm is totally overlooked.
I STILL use this thing. In the early 2000's a community of directors for this game made a program that allowed you to add new models and alter the existing ones. The results are epic.

oh hey look at that block of wood over there you know that reminds me of my favorite movie "The Movie". Uh that's your favorite movie too right?
Teh BrownieMixx no my favorite is frozen I liked elsa
My main actor would always be the fat guy and basically all the movies were based off stupid accidents happening to him haha, literally he was hit by a car and haunted in the same movie
+Even Andy That's brutal...lmao
***** haha, I was a very sinister child it seems
Even Andy Lmao
Bongo was also my key star in each of my films as a youngling.
RkivUnderground I just found him hilarious
This was a remarkably sophisticated and easy tool for making movies. If only there were a modern version of this.
This game was a genius idea. I just bought a copy on eBay to relive what I lost over 15 years ago.
@@SOLOTONE how do you play on a modern computer?
@@Lapusso650I have a few 10-15 year old computers I was gonna try it on before resorting to extreme measures. I’ll comment back when the game arrives next week. Sad as it may seem, I’d do a lot to get back into this. You can do so much with what they give you.
@@Lapusso650 the disc came and it’s running perfectly on Windows 10! Only an hour in, just have to figure out how to make it full screen cause it only opens as like a 5th of the screen on a movable window
@@SOLOTONE is that impossible??? Are you using an emulator?
Loved this game so much!!!
wow, that 90s CGI though
yeah...
Fun fact: Same actor as The G-Man and Barney from Half-Life.
Played this alongside Decent 3 whilst using Encarta 98 for homework.
Damn. The memories
WTF I know this is a 5 year old comment but man I did the exact same thing!
ooh man... the memories. i used to spend hours after school creating my own action movie on this game. now that i'm currently working in creating video games i guess this is my first entry point at the industry

I played this for hours and hours and hours!!! I actually got really good at it, learned some cool special effects tricks. Wish I could go back and watch some of the movies I made, alas gone forever😔
I was very fortunate to save all mine, I'm getting them uploaded incase they make someone chuckle.
I'm sorry to hear that, I wish I could've seen them
You know it's an ancient program when the throwback video covering it also feels nostalgic

Wow can’t believe I found this. My daughter is into animation and I wanted to show her what I played when I was her age! Thanks for sharing? 💪
Oh god I used to make movies with this for hours and hours. The dumbest stuff that I thought was so funny back then. That program has some looney ass voices and props.
There was a whole community based upon sharing movies for this in the past. A lot of great, insane ones were made.
The community is still alive.
I wish I still had some of the many movies I made as a kid. Maybe they're lying on a hard drive somewhere...but that's probably too much to hope for. Probably lost to time. :(
This program beats the pants off The Movies. They should do 3D Movie Maker (2015).
The graphics make me think of Alone In The Dark...
Of course. The Movies didn't build your creativity or imagination much at all. The only problem with this game. Not enough actors to fill as extras.
An the actors lips don't move, so it's weird.
+Chris Tubestinks Wasn't PaRappa an actor? I saw him in a W3MM video, I also saw Yoshi in the same one, it's on RUclips and It's called 'Pumpkin the Rapper'
its a mod
This game used to scare the shit out of me.
Q-sistå Why?
Because I was a little kid at the time and this game is fucking freaky tbh.
I was a kid too, but I was never scare by it. LOL
TaaviXD as a kid you have less insight of everything so to some kids the unknown is more interesting and others it's more scary. As a kid I had no idea what I was doing on my computer so when random 3d characters started popping up the on the screen I had no idea what to think.
lmao why was everyone scared thats hilarious
What a blast from the past.
Spent many hours messing around in this software. For the time, it was magical.
I used to be really weirded out by the weird CGI baby character. Looking back, the 90s was full of weird CGI babies.
How have we not had a McZee RUclips Poop yet?
villain wins.mid used to make lots of youtube poops, but i'm not sure if he has used that character before
he made a thing or multiple things in this program.
What an amazing game. How many hours of my childhood did I spend creating stories and "films". The funniest thing is that now I am a filmmaker and photographer by profession, the passion certainly started as a child
One year later, I'm here back 😂😂
I found it! I finally found it! Oh my goodness, I only had the demo with two characters and a car, but I loved it so much because it was so incredibly dumb. Good times, absolutely good times.
We SEARCHED all over for the real program and I got very lucky finding a copy. It was my life from ages 11 to 16 I think.
@@MBX3D i also have a copy
I spent MANY hours playing this as a kid! Thanks for posting. It brought back a lot of good memories.
So many happy hours playing this as a kid, I’ll always remember the excitement the 1st tine I got to successfully install it so it actually worked to playing it and making awesome movies :) thanks for this upload
One of the greatest software I ever used back on my good old days of Win95. Now I'm into Blender on Linux xD but this was just so cool when I was 7 years old. Thank you for sharing this! Greetings from Argentina, 11 years later.
I was obsessed with this...I cannot believe it didn't become something with regular new releases/add ons.
I waited years for 3DMM2 and they never made it. But I wore out my copy making movies for years.
I remember playing this as a kid.
Oh my god, you have no idea how much I played this game back in the day. I loved it!
So many fond memories of this game, thanks for uploading!! :D
Oh man. I spent countless hours on this game as a kid. I can't believe the amount of patience I had back then to make a 'movie'.
And it would end up being a 2 minute movie about a guy shitting and farting and then an explosion would happen and people would die. The end.
Couldn’t get enough of this as a 9-10 year old kid; massive amounts of nostalgia happening presently
i havent seen this in god knows how long, such a great program. Takes me back!
did you know there was a doraemon expansion pack?
I had this, you can record your own voices for the actors. I made a movie called "BJ Axe" on this app in 1997'. The actor I created was going around the town asking everyone where he could get a BJ. Eventually he finds someone that gives him what he wants. It was a great movie and my cousin had a heart attack laughing when she played it back.
Bruh
I remember going to my friends house to play this in the 90s it was awesome, it was a pretty neat program.
OH MY GOD. Major Nostalgia rush right now. As much time as I spent with this program, I am super sad because I don't have any of the saved files to view them now!
Same here, dude :(

Oh my god. I've been looking for this for years!
Looks like a powerful program for its time!
I just remember having the free demo and loving it. The music in the scene totally brought me back!
When I was 14 years old I created my first short movie on 3dmm.
It was a great tool for making 3D movies at that time. Now these modern tools are very complicated and professional too
From the perspective of someone born in this century, who never had the chance to use this, (until now thanks to some really dedicated technical wizardry that’s way beyond me) I genuinely find this all so charming. I love the style and the feel of it all, I mean modern ultra-realistic graphics are great, but it just doesn’t have the same soul to it. I want to learn to use this
Seems very elaborate for a throwaway piece of software from 1995. Surprised I’d never seen it before.
I used this, what seems like SOOO long ago. Thanks for posting up great memories!~
At last, after 21 years, i discovered this game again, thank you!. Back then i was able to enjoy this game without really knowing english, it feels amazing now to be able to understand much more, just finally figuring out that his name is McZee is awesome.
All those years, "your amigo carlos" have always, popped into my head from time to time.
Definitely where my love of filmmaking all began.
Oh God. The nostalgia. The memories. I'm so old.
I never understood this game as a kid.
+Gamer Guy must have been to young.
This is way to relatable. Hope i can still find my old saves
What a blast from the past! Used to play this for hours as a kid
Oh, childhood, where have you gone? :(
i remember getting this as a kid, this brings me back. I played this for hours, thanks for the awsome vid.
All I remember from this game was one piece of dialogue you could use, which went something like "I can make you whatever you like, Bongo, so long as the recipe is in my book."
I remember being 5 and was scared to shit from this guy
I spent so much time playing this game as a kid.
Aaaaa I've been lookin for this game forever! What a nostalgia trip!
jerma985 sent me here
This was the best product Microsoft ever made. Better than any Windows OS, Xbox exclusive, Office program, etc. It's from 1995 and runs great on newer machines, unlike most games from that era. I still use 3dmm on a Mac running VirtualBox.
Omg the nostalgia. I'm so glad there is footage of this!
Remember making all sorts of weird mini movies with this. Great nostalgia
McZee had a Glaswegian accent in the Australian release
I thought something was off with his voice in this video!
I was in UK and must have had Australian version then as accent was Scottish for me
It's weird, but I'm the UK and knew two different folk with this game - one with the Scottish accent and the other with the original.
I used to play this game as little kid and now all these memories of making airplane murder videos and stuff are coming back to me
oh damn, I used to play this a lot on a friend's computer in 1996. they only had the demo version so there were only a couple of characters you could use. Still a hell of a lot of fun playing this and Red Alert
cant emagine this was a microsoft's game
this made me the happiest ever to watch :') such wonderful memories of childhood without responsibilities or a care in the world except to have fun
nostalgia holy shit. I used to be way into making home movies and shit so I got super into this game. Me and my sister used our computer's mic to add voices too which cracked us up
Having the mic really opened things up, until you realized you sounded terrible...maybe that was just me.
Aw man, I remember playing this game when I was like 6. This stuff blew my mind in the day.
5:40 Oh my god, im going to cry. I used to do the same scenes!! Cars ramming people, but i'd used that fat guy and the girl in green pants, and i used that music always lol!!! Heavenly times omg, happy childhood. P.S.: you used Vice City song❤ Awe vid! :')
So many memories! Hours making my sci fi epics but moving random blocks as laser beams frame by frame!
I did a lot of movies back then was a cool and fun game :)
Nothing else much like it, so grateful for the creative outlet is gave me. I'm uploading my old childhood movies now so people can see what this program could do even in the hands of a 12 year old.
I once made a 45 minute film with with this. The final action scene was in an elevator shaft which I constructed out of grey cubes and cylinders. The guns the characters used were also grey cylinders, with red exploding spheres for the gunshots.
Loved using stuff not as intended, but WOW 45 minutes is wild
Is there a way we could watch this movie?
@@Notwoodcrawler I'm afraid it's long gone.
Played this a lot when I was a kid. This inspired me to do movies.
really wish they had more like this today :(
3D Movie Maker brings me some REALLY GOOD memories of my childhood.
6:19 Hit in the childhood!!!
I remember making a bunch of chase scenes on this thing. It was a heck of a fun time back in the day.
This game... I remember going over to my friends that lived next door to me, and all we did was play this game... Good times... Good times...
I had a demo version of this back in the day which only had certain features but I played it to death🤣 the sounds and that sad music when the guy is crossing the road have brought back so many memories!
God this thing was awesome. Me and my friends make so many bizarre movies on this thing.
Just found out about this program through a different video that used it. I was like, "Windows added a 3d version of Movie Maker? Like they did with Paint 3d? Neat!" Then I see that it was made for WINDOWS 95! 🤯 I'm a 90s kid, how'd I miss this?!?
I used to love this game as a kid.
Wow I remember all of this! Growing up I used to play this all the time... Such a good game. We need a brand new high tech modern squeal, that would be so cool. Also just wanted to point out the awesome Toe Jam & Earl sounding music at 7:17 :) .
your car-chase scene was a masterpiece
"click the okay button!" is still in my head
Oh man Windows Time Capsule indeed. I still remember making a movie about a mayan thunder god. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Wow. So much shared nostalgia. I am in the right place
Omg happy memories!!! So glad it's on RUclips
I want to thank this guy let me find movie maker game! I have also many many mods on it, so its perfect :D
I used to make lots of movies with this software before our old computer broke down. I hope we see this again on our new computers now.

TY for the nostalgia, i miss this ^_^
