i m so surprised that Malayalam movies are loved with subtitles because the conversation is what makes Malayalam movies so good. I feel the subtitles makes the experience 50% down. We are so used to these dialogues.. it's culture .
Malayalam films have a lot of puns, word play, accent shift jokes, folk jokes, Malayalam literary devices, hidden sarcasm, meme references, old movie-book references, socio-political references, etc. that I often think that people from other states may not understand them. But somehow, they seem to understand
Yall should watch Girish's previous film "Super Sharanya". It had Mamitha, Naslen and Anaswara. It was a chill flick that uniquely shows the engineering college lives of girls set in a Girls hostel. We don't see many of those in Indian cinema. Imo it's Super Sharanya is better than Premalu. Girish AD has an uncanny knack for portraying youth realistically but with humor
I think because people are just exhausted watching all this massy violence movies that are releasing these days. Everyone forget the days before the OTT when all kind of movies were running successfully in theatres!
A film becomes a success when majority of the audiance like the film. So please stop asking the question "how it became a huge success". The answer is same as always, you're in the minority.
