    His distance management is excellent too, he wants his opponents behind the black line in mma. He’s really good at cutting people off as they try to escape the cage. Izzy ate that hook trying to escape the cage in rd 5 of fight one.
    My only criticism is that if he utilized a more traditional boxing footwork style he could cheat his back leg foward to to close distance for the left straight but then he looses the ability to torque through a left hook. So I get the why there but it could make him more dynamic. But he’s a double world champion and I’m just some guy who works a 9-5 so who cares what I think really

      Lol, I know what you mean. Sometimes on my breakdowns I have criticisms about fighters but I’m hesitant to give them because they clearly have a well established game that exceeds my own

    you spurred a thought i felt sharable....excluding jumping strikes, striking opponents in a ring, is a battle between your footwork which provided me with 90% of my effectiveness in strikes, versus dancing to use as defense, closing distance, and getting up close and personal....which is another reason ALI is still light years ahead of fighters today. will this ever change? idk

    • @DevilDogMartialArts-
      @DevilDogMartialArts-  Год назад +1

      Idk I’d agree with that. Ali was amazing but idk about better than the guys today but that’s a long conversation.

      If your feet are moving. Your power is less than when you plant, pivot, and strike through targets.
      Therefore to bring pain, depends on how much effort you dedicate to digging in and swinging for the fences.

    hey man im starting to fall in love with the sport of mma! really started to love alex’s fighting style followed by cory, so my question is, what’s the best way to start training? to just go straight into training? love da vids

    • @DevilDogMartialArts-
      @DevilDogMartialArts-  Год назад +2

      The best way to start is definitely to find a good mma gym and go train. The hardest part for most people is just going. Once you go and get it into your schedule you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it

    • @DevilDogMartialArts-
      @DevilDogMartialArts-  Год назад +1

      When looking for a gym just make sure they don’t do too much hard sparring and head shots. Unless you are going pro don’t risk the brain trauma and I could make a case you don’t even need it then

    Great video brother,by any chance would you be able to breakdown his leg kicks?

    • @DevilDogMartialArts-
      @DevilDogMartialArts-  8 месяцев назад

      I go into a lot of detail about this on the Nemean Fight System, getting ready to release on Dynamic Striking in the next few weeks. The short version is the principle of projected intention. Sell all your energy up with high hands and looking up and selling everything up, then attacking with just the leg. Don't pivot on the kick, it's not necessary when you are catching the calf. The idea is to hide it under upward movement.
