- Hey there, I've wanted to do this song for years but I could never work it out properly and gave up. Alex and Chris do an awesome job on the solos and their playing kicks my ass, so it's not perfect and I made some mistakes. I could have sat on it longer and learnt it a bit better but It meant I'd have to wait another week to upload it. So I apologise for my impatience.
I worked it out by ear and recorded it through my Mark V module from Jaided Faith. Please don't ask for tabs as there were none used, There's a clip of Willy playing segments on RUclips that I watched and learnt from.

I can break down the riffs in the songs if you'd like, but please don't ask about the solos. I'd have to learn them again and they were a nightmare lol
I think the rhythm guitar on this song is arguably better imo
@@snaker9er agreed (quality, not difficultly of course). Lamb chopper is better than I am, but this still just seems impossible to play lol
I notice from other covers people play this in different ways. Either way it's a difficult song and even the rhythm parts seem unorthodox if that's the right word. I'm just getting it to sound good now after about 30 accumulated hours.

Lamb of god riffs from New American Gospel to Ashes of the Wake make me want to quit playing because they are so damn good. Hourglass and Now you’ve got something to die for are so difficult to play perfectly.
I love this song. I was a Marine there for the kick-off of the Iraq war in 2003, and when I came home my brother introduced me to this band with this song. The narration is totally true for our first deployment!!

The audio used in this song is from Jimmy Massey, who was called out many times by guys that he served with, including his own unit, for being a fucking liar and overdramatizing stories.
Not to mention all of his books were pulled off shelves and he lost all of his publishers, and sponsors because he was a proven liar

Thanks all for your great comments, appreciated. I forgot to mention in the descriptive why I'm using the RR5 over the Dominion, thought someone would have said something. Solos are much easier on the RR, for some reason it takes less effort and I needed all the help I could get. That fast riff of Willie's was hard to get my head around, that is my vomit riff lol

I hope I can play like this after 20 years. Find this song quite hard and ive been playing for 10 now. Just finished covering walk with me in hell flawlessly (without the solo). Lamb Of God is a good band to cover if you want to keep up your rythem and up and down strokes or what ever you call em in English. You did this cover amazingly dude.
