- Thanks for joining us on our first flight with Icelandair, our first business class flight (actually, Saga Class in this case) and our first trip to Iceland. A lot of firsts for us! Let us know about your experience with Icelandair--did you slip and slide in the seats like Bobby?
Big thanks to our producing partners for this trip to Iceland, Community Links International. Thanks Jim, thanks Cat!
Sincerely,
The Ryans

ABOUT US
We have been traveling together as a gay couple for 15 years. Bobby’s soul needs travel to survive. Tyler’s soul is most fully alive when he’s traveling. We are in search of all sorts of experiences: from bamboo huts to five star luxury. Night markets, street food, connecting with nature... the wider the range, the richer the adventure. We are sharing our travels through our RUclips channel and we can’t wait to meet you on the journey!
I love the way you have reviewed Icelandic air. I was in Iceland last year this time. Hope to see more similar videos in the future. Your 600th subscriber.
Yay! Thanks for giving it a watch. And thanks for being our #600! :)
Iceland!!! Wow!! What an exciting journey! The flight was first class. Fantastic food options on the flight and I love the stickers that they have for being woken up to eat. Their goodie bags are so nice!! Can't wait to see more of your trip- the lava field is very unique.
Yes, we got to visit a lava tunnel while we were there and it was amazing. Thanks for stopping by!
I am so jealous your going to Iceland!!! I can’t wait to see your next video. I am so excited for you guys. So happy we connected. Have a safe fun trip!!!
Thanks Kathy! This was actually from earlier this year... but we're reliving our Iceland adventures as we edit the footage. We're glad to be connected too!
Such a great video! We have never flown first class before so we are super excited once we get the chance to.
Yes! Make it happen. At least once :)
Flying business class is awesome! Am glad the flight attendant was great. Happy weekend to you both. Thumbs up!
Yes, business class is a fabulous treat. No doubt about it. Thanks for watching!
this is amazing work, I am so happy, thank you for this content
Glad you enjoy it!
It's really amazing to see that you experienced the business class. As I watch you eating, I feel so hungry!!😋😋😋 All food looks delicious!! Thumbs up and definitely joining your growing family.✨🥂
Thank you so much Faith 💙 Yes, the food was awesome. Glad we're friends now!
So exciting, flying business class first time. Great experiences. I enjoy watching 😊🥰
Thanks so much! We felt so lucky to fly business class. I'll always remember it!
You two are super cute. Thank you for the information, it was very helpful. I hope that was an amazing vacation😊
We're so glad to hear that it was useful info for you. Are you heading to Iceland soon? And yes, we LOVED being in Iceland. We long to go back!
Business class looks an enjoyable experience! I'm glad you had fun ✈ Excellent video! Like👍
It was such a great way to start our trip... but it felt even more luxurious to have it for the way home!
@@theryanstravel1699 you're very fortunate to enjoy such wonderful experiences 😎💜
Hello the Ryans, I love your channel. Look forward to seeing more. :)
Yay! Thanks Sandra 😊
You guys are the cutest. Loved your video so much!
Aw, thanks Sarah!! So glad you enjoyed it 😌
Business class is definitely a better way to travel, if there´s a budget for that. I enjoyed watching your video.
Yes--the "budget" detail is the only limiting factor. But sometimes you just gotta do it. I have Bobby to thank for making that happen!
I just watched your video and enjoyed it immensely! We are leaving March 16th to go to Dublin via Iceland and will be flying Saga Class as well, I can't wait! You guys are great, I especially loved all of those gin drinks!!!
Yay Denise we're so excited for you guys! It's so cool that Icelandair has the option for a layover. Be sure to leave time to hang out in the Saga lounge in Reykjavik. It's one of the coolest lounges ever. Happy travels!
@@theryanstravel1699 Thanks, we will, we are also going to Barcelona on this trip, lots of traveling for 14 days!
That sounds amazing! Progressively getting warmer the farther you travel. Sounds like a good plan 😀 We're in the travel spirit as well right now--we're in Thailand for the month of February!
We've never made it to Iceland before, it is definitely on our bucket list though once things start to open up again! We definitely look back fondly on our few business class trips though, thanks to Steve and his credit card points! Hopefully we can try out Saga Class ourselves sometimes soon, big comfy recliner chairs, prosecco and good food seems like the ultimate way to get to Iceland.
Credit card points make those business class flights doable. Such a gift. Actually the Icelandair tickets were around $1300 each which seemed like an amazing deal to us. They make the flights to Iceland reasonable and then everything else about Iceland is mind bogglingly expensive. But what a beautiful country!
@@theryanstravel1699 that definitely seems like a great deal, especially for a flight that long!
I have flown Saga Class many year ago, so it was a bit different but equally wonderful! The "kit" I was given, extra comfortable space and the food and unlimited beverages were epic! I'm glad you both had a great time there. It's my #1 place on earth. I've been there 5 times and I will be returning again and again.
Woah Steve, that's amazing that you've been there 5 times! We can totally see why you'd be drawn to return again and again. Our equivalent would be Thailand. We feel so at home there with the food, the people and the climate
You guys are adorable! Great review! I would LOVE to travel for a living! :-)
Thanks BKF! Do you have any travel plans this year? Any place you're going to satisfy the itch even if you're not making a living from it?
Business class looks like such a comfy way to fly! Visiting Iceland is on my bucket list 😊💗
Yes! There's so much natural beauty to experience in Iceland 💖
Can’t wait to travel again. I’m gonna watch your channel grow.
Yeah, we're looking forward to traveling again too 💙
It was a journey that made a great experience.
I like sharing from you and I will always follow your channel.
Wonderful. Thanks so much!
Omg! You guys rock! Thank you for a laugh and good information. I just put in offer to class up to Saga. 🤞🤞🤞
Yes!! Laughing keeps us young 😆 fingers crossed for the seat upgrade. Have a fabulous trip!!
ohh iceland amazing place..i hope i can also visit that placr too..and i like the business class hmmmp what a nice experience dude..thank you for sharing
Yeah, we hope you get to visit Iceland too!!
Next stop first class!! haha
Thanks for supporting my channel, glad to be part of your fam now!
Bobby actually had a first class ticket that got cancelled in April. So sad.
@@theryanstravel1699 Hopefully he got something out of it!?
@@YHLegacyYHL yes! Amazingly, he found a way to get a full refund. Soooo lucky!
Wow Iceland hope I get to see this magical place soon...loved the vlog👍
Yes! We hope you can make it there because you will not be disappointed!
How fun! Great video guys! 😊
Thanks you guys!
Very nice video..I loved how you shared your excitement of flying business class the first time. I enjoyed Saga Class last year on a trip FRA-KEV..and in particular the gin selection.I do hope that one day you will be able to experiencethe worlds best business class, i.e. the QSuites on Qatar Airways:)
Oooh, we definitely aspire to flying in those seats. The tricky part about flying in first class is that we never want to fly economy again. Especially when there's a gin library to savor. We look forward to checking out your flight vids as well!
Nice to see you guys so excited about Icelandair's business class. Just wait 'till you fly a true international business class with lie-flat seats...you'll be in heaven! Icelandair's business class is more akin to domestic first class in the U.S. You basically get a wider seat with more legroom and better food. Always better than coach!
Yes, we can't wait to be in "real" business class seats. We actually had them booked on Cathay Pacific for a trip to Hong Kong... but our travel dates were for March. And you can guess what happened to them :( Thanks so much for watching!
But like how FANCY was that plane tho lol loved it. Hot towels for your face and those meals tho! And some drinks tho! Like that's the best flight lol Tiramisu is my freaking favorite. This was a cool video loved it. You guys seem like so much fun.
Drinks and tiramisu on an airplane--does it get better than that? We were pampered in the best way. :)
@@theryanstravel1699 it does not lol that's so awesome tho.
How fun that was. You Ryans had me chuckling. Bobby's facial expressions! Priceless. And I wonder...slipping out of your seat had nothing to do with the gin/tonic flights you sampled. lol Thank you for the very informative info. xo
Cool. Thanks for sharing your business class experience 😍
You bet, thanks for watching!
In business class to Iceland 😮🤗🤩 mega exciting!!!! Enjoy well 🤩
Yeah, "mega exciting" is how we felt too!!
I want to go to Iceland sooo bad! And sooo cool you got to see it in business class!!!
Okay, we're sending Iceland vibes your way right now! May it happen for you!
Lmfaoo 'almost every way' lol got me dying at that part. Still watching
Kids say the darnedest things!
Meals look delicious, have a nice trip buddies enjoy your flight 🤗🤗🤗
Yes! The food was really good. But we pretty much love all airplane food :)
Looks like a great experience flying business class! We are lucky to find the northern lights when we went! Such a great experience! 👍🏼😊😘😍
Oh, fabulous! So glad you saw the lights. Bobby saw them briefly, in the middle of the night, from our hotel room.
The Ryans Travel yep was really luck! We got a video of that as well in one of our episodes in Iceland ❤️👍🏼😊😘
@@thetravellinghobitt Fabulous! I'll look for it!
The Ryans Travel you need to go out of Reykjavík that’s what we did! I hope you enjoyed your stay there x ❤️😘🥰
Super leuk ... Thanks guys. I look forward to my virgin experience in May. I do not fly well, so this video is very helpful. Erg bedankt.
So excited for you to fly on Iceland Air! We hope the flight is smooth and fun. Maybe this flight will set in motion a new level of enjoyment for you on an airplane. Happy travels!
Number 477 here guys....I was in Iceland a few years ago and totally loved it !
Fabulous! We're already looking forward to going back
Thanks, you guys did a great job. We will be taking this flight soon in Saga class. Unfortunately we couldn't get this class of service on our return flight so we aren't looking forward to that segment. But, we will be able to make a comparison. I last flew on this airline in 1968 on my way to Europe from NYC as a graduate student. I think the plane was a propeller prop back then and we needed to refuel in Reykjavik before continuing on to Luxembourg. The cost of the return ticket was less than $100!
Michael, this is such a great "full circle" story. Argh, sorry to hear that the saga class is full on your return trip. Sometimes seats open up though! Keep checking on your app. When I fly economy, I tell myself that I can feel free to order whatever drinks or food I want because I'm still saving so much money 😆 So live it up in whatever seats you end up in. Hope your travels are great!
A very detailed flight review.
Ohoooo. I’m glad and interested your videos.
Glad you like them!
You two are adorable!!!
wow! great content, thank you for sharing , love it. big big LIKE.
Thanks Lynn! I'm heading over to your channel now!
Really amaizing
:)
SAGA CLASS!! Love it! Thanks for sharing you guys! We love flying business whenever we can. Did you guys get a deal on the flight? When did you guys go? Never been in the cockpit! How was it!?!? Also, POPCORN! Hahahahahahah. Also forced cocktails are always the best! Make friends with your flight attendant
We were on that flight in January. It was an incredibly good price. I wish I could remember off the top of my head, but I can't. But WAAAYYY less than most business class flights. Do you guys have a favorite business class airline?
@@theryanstravel1699 Well we haven't flown a lot of business flight, but we have enjoyed some. We loved Japan Airline's Business Class and we really enjoyed Mint Business Class with Jet Blue! We made a video about it :)
@@exploreaswego those are two stellar business class airlines. They are both at the top of our list (along with a few others) to experience. We'll have to watch your videos on them!
Your channel is really awesome.keep it up,subbed with bell.
Thanks so much Alfredo 😊
Awesome video Ryan. Thanks for coming to my channel😊👍🏽. Just liked and subscribed as well. Keep it up
Wonderful, thanks so much!
Great content , thanks for sharing 🤝🤝👍
Thanks for visiting
lol i can't remember the last time i was served a napkin with a napkin ring... let alone ever expecting it on a plane ride
Don't you guys use napkins rings with all your meals??
Thanks for the video, guys. We are flying the same flight from Seattle to Reykjavik next month and doing the 2 week ring tour. Wondering how their noise canceling headphones were? I just got myself a new pair of Bose noise canceling headphones. If theirs are decent, it would be one less thing to lug for our two week adventure! Cheers!
Tony this sounds like an amazing adventure! Two weeks to explore the ring road! Hmmm... it's been three years since that flight and I have no recollection of the headphone quality. I can hardly remember what I ate for lunch 😆 I wish I could offer more help. But we both send great big wishes for a fabulous journey (with or without your new bose headphones)
Great.Happy.Video....full of interesting information....I will watch more of your videos...........................Paul
Thanks Paul!!
You can pull the headrest "wings" outward to keep your head from rolling when sleeping!
Hahaha, yes! Good point!
Haha I've never had a business class seat but this video makes me want to pay a little extra 😉 I can't believe they have those stickers! Last time we flew with RyanAir they kept waking us up over lottery tickets and perfume sales 😂
Well, I guess if they're gonna sell me WINNING lottery tickets I'd be okay with it... Otherwise, let me sleep 😂 Icelandair has some of the best priced business class tickets (partly because it's not truly biz class without lay down seats).
Wow really nice vlog keep it up
Thanks! We just popped over to your channel too 😊
Dear The Ryans Travel !
Congratulations, super travel video!
Nice colors, good contrast, i like your channel!
Go the like and I subscribed to your channel !
Thanks so much Tom! Glad to be connected 😊
Bobby made me giggle outloud seeing his happy face drinking his gin and tonic. The food looks delicious on the plane and they really have a nice touch making your flight more comfortable. That's really good to know. I love all your advice. Thank you!
Bobby doesn't drink very often, but when he does it often brings out a big smile. We loved our flight to Iceland! Maybe one day you'll get to experience it too!
How exciting, flying business for the first time! We are still business class virgins 😄
One day, when the time is right, you'll leave your virginity behind. But don't let anyone pressure you into it. It's your choice. :0
Iceland is so beautifull!
Oops, we never replied to you. Thanks for watching!
nice experience
So nice
I feel like i'm drunk after watching and hungry at the same time 😆
7:02 that face hahaha
9:17 and again lol
10:05 now im starving!
👍 good job you two. No, i haven't tried flying with the Icelandair Saga Class nor flying to Iceland. When i read the title my thoughts was "oh jaja ding dong" lol from the movie "Euro Vision Fire Saga".
Hahaha, drunk and hungry! Believe it or not, we still haven't watched Euro Vision yet! One day we will and we'll understand oh jaja din dong :) :)
Hey guys! nice video...we are flying Icelandair from Frankfurt to Reykjavik and from there back to Seattle, with a 5 hour layover in Iceland. Watched your tour of the lounge (THANKS!)..how long was your layover? Any lessons learned...my other questions here are about your flight experience: It looks like you are on the starboard side bulkhead? Row two I think on this aircraft? Was there storage in front of your feet? I thought I saw some open space under the bulkhead? Would you recommend that seat? Second: Just how far does that seat recline? Is it more than a couple inches like standard economy? Thanks in advance!
Such great questions!! First of all, sorry for not responding sooner. As you could probably tell from our lounge video, we loved the Reykjavik lounge. I think it might still be my favorite of the dozen or so we've been in. We didn't have a layover there, we were finishing a week trip to Iceland. We came to the airport early specifically to hang out in the lounge. Come hungry and thirsty. That's our advice 😂
As for the seats... Yes, we were at the bulkhead. And yes there was storage space at our feet in front of us. The seat doesn't recline very far. Maybe 3 or 4 inches more than economy. Certainly nothing like lay flat business class seats. But a big step better than standard economy. We liked these seats because it's nice to not have people in front of us. I think they might also have a bit more legroom because of the bulkhead too.
Omg, had to pause and say, Bobby’s face while sipping his gin was lol worthy!!!
Where do those faces even come from?? I often tell him that his faces remind me of Amy Sedaris. Delightfully odd.
I literally had rainbow-colored unicorns flying out of my data ports while I watched this.
Hahahaha! That's our spirit animal 🤣
Wonderful videos! Now subscribed. I’m bidding on upgrade to Saga Class for an upcoming trip. How much do you think it was worth to you - if you can even measure it that way? Did you arrive noticeably more well rested and happier then a similar length flight in coach? Did it improve your first day in Iceland and lessen jet-lag?
We're so excited to hear you have an Iceland trip coming up! These are great questions Roger. This is Tyler writing to you and I tend to be on the stingy side of spending money. Bobby really pushed for us flying Saga class. In a nutshell, I'm SO glad we did. I feel that our entire travel experience was elevated. The service on the plane felt personal and attentive. The roomy seats meant that we had enough space to avoid feeling claustrophobic. And the lounge in Reykjavik was a fantastic way to finish the trip. It's a fabulous lounge. Neither of us can remember if we slept on the plane. But we both remember that we were jet lagged our entire trip. The timing of the flight meant that we missed a night of sleep. But that had nothing to do with our flight experience. Thanks for subscribing. We hope you have an amazing time. And if you remember, let us know how your flight goes :)
@@theryanstravel1699 Oh my gosh, Tyler - thank you so much for the kindness and detail of your response! It sounds maybe irrational being that we just "met" (I met you yesterday in watching some of your videos) - but I love you both! We'll see if we get the Saga Class upgrade - at this point I followed random advice on the web that basically encouraged me to bid fairly aggressively low (we're about $50 above the minimum bid). Though maybe I should bump it up a bit considering the season - and the experience. It looks like you had a pretty full Saga Class section despite the winter travel date.
Your experience both on the plane and the lounge look wonderful! I like what you say about it elevating your experience of the whole trip - even *with* persistent jet lag! Who would guess that a flight/airport experience could do that?! :-) I absolutely must compliment you both on the Reykjavik food video - it was really quite lovely. You two manage to make your videos personal and relatively slowly paced - but so rich with emotional and sensory experience that it feels just right and leaves me with what I need, information-wise. It's rare in youtube. Usually one is lucky to get a detailed and well-edited (but drier) review and the other choice, if more personal, is one that is self-indulgent and boring (at least to those who aren't their immediate family - of course). Somehow you bring us viewers in and enchant us. ...while giving us exactly what we need from a factual standpoint. Best to you both!
I'll drop you a line here after our trip!
Roger your observations about our channel made our day. Thank you for sharing these reflections. You named several of the qualities that Bobby works to create as he edits our videos. It means a lot to us! Sooo... tell us about "bidding" on your tickets. Is that through Priceline? This is something we've never done before. Sounds exciting though! I believe Saga Class was full when we rode in January. I wouldn't be surprised if it's full for you too (especially since Iceland seems to be the HOT destination). But we're sending good vibes for scoring a great price on your seats!
@@theryanstravel1699 Tyler it is an option that IcelandAir offered after I bought economy class tickets. They say that on eligible flights (my take: ones where they may not expect to sell all the Saga Class at list price) that they'll send an email within 10 days of the flight. We got the email earlier than that. We had a similar option on Norweigian Air a few years ago (and scored true first class LAX to Rome for $400 above the already reasonable economy class). I've read that this bidding for an upgrade is becoming more popular - slowly spreading from airline to airline - but I don't know how many currently do it. Here's a link to Icelandair's description of their program: www.icelandair.com/support/pre-flight/class-up/
Actually - as I think about it, that's not quite true about Norweigian. We've never experienced true first class - it was probably parallel to Icelandair's Saga Class offering.
You guys are soooo funny
XOXOXO
Nice video sharing, l like it, stay safe friend

The dream of flying business class... or flying at all for that matter! 😅
:0 Yes! Any flight would be amazing. Actually, flying economy is the way to go right now with all the extra empty seats. Sounds so dreamy!
👍
:)
It looks like the seats don’t fully recline?
Not even close 😢 They recline much further than economy, but nowhere near lay-flat seats of other business classes.
we like your channel
Sweet!
Did you get access to a lounge in Seattle with Saga class before your flight to Reykjavik?
Yeah, Icelandair has access to a lounge in SeaTac that is only open certain hours (depending on when flights are leaving)
Looking forward to visit iceland and experience aurora borealis
Yes, it would be amazing to see those beautiful lights in Iceland!
Omg I want to go to Iceland 🇮🇸 especially to see the northern lights ❤️❤️❤️ and have you guys seen my new video yet?
