Finally, someone mounts the unit on the wall! And should I install a plate on the top and bottom? I know it comes with three, but not sure if it would help distribute the weight or not. Thanks!
In UK drywall anchors are in one size. The screws are in a set with anchors. Drill bit size is the some diameter as an anchor. I used strong anchors so I only fastened the top, you can fastened the bottom if you want to but the shelf will be stable without it.
Thank you!! My Dad normally does this stuff for me, and he passed last year. The option #1, while very well installed, seems still to not be enough support for such a big piece, especially when you put items on it. I’d be afraid of that totally falling down!
If you use strong fixings the shelf will be stable and won't fall down, unless you put something extremely heavy on it. If you have any concerns, fastened the bottom as well.
For mounting vertically there is only one mounting plate at the top with 2 holes for anchors? Does the bottom of the unit not need to be constrained to prevent rotation?

Can be attached to plasterboard. I don't recommend putting very heavy things on the shelf. It is best to use all screw attachment points.
