She's BACK!!! + Gauge Pods & DRL's

  • Over the past two months I have been working to get my Nissan 370Z back on the road, after a complication with the supercharger install left my car with low oil pressure and timing issues. I discuss what went wrong with the VTC solenoid which caused the failure, and also talk about the new a-pillar gauge pods that I installed, along with the DRL's which were put on back in October.
    I also talk about my upcoming videos, including a video on how to tune your Z34, a Q & A with my remote tuner Eugene Turkov, and dyno results of my boosted Z Car soon to come!

    Those EVO R LEDs are really bad, I went through a lot before deciding to take action. Just an idea, but I gutted out the EVO R LEDs so it was just the metal housing (can be done easily by jamming a small screwdriver through the back and popping out the lense) and then got the "Custom Made Board [7x4] 4P Bi-Color, Plain ver. 600x600mil" from Corso Motion which fit great inside the same metal housing. I then soldered the same wires from the EVO R LEDs to the Corso Motion LEDs and ran the wires through the back of the metal housing. I then used epoxy to seal them from the front and back, which gives them a little lense too if you pour enough epoxy on the front. I guess you can then hook them up to any 12V thats active when the ignition is on, but i went for using a GHOZT lighting module to control them.

    Nice video! I just got my car back last week, from Dynosty in Louisville and it put down 627whp. I agree with you that this is an amazing kit and my only critique is the annoying flutter/chirp. Please inform us if you ever go with bov/spring setup that prevents/lessen the flutter. Keep up the great work!

    Great to see update -- I've watched a good number of your videos for some guidance on my 2011 370z Sport (also pearl white!) Located in Houston btw. N/A for now I haven't taken that financial dive yet! Your journey with your project is inspirational, very glad to see major issues resolved by an explainable cause.
    I do have a question for you -- what width are your tires on the rear? And what tires are you considering next? I have 285 potenza S-04s on rear...while they perform well they have lost tread faster than I would've hoped. Guess you can't have it all, and I knew that would be the downside going into it. I also don't have 500 WHP or even higher that you are going to...do people go 305 and wider for a build like this? Spinning in 4th would scare the piss out of me, but maybe it's something you just get used to.
    Best of luck, I'm excited for tuning / dyno updates.

    • @thecarizon504
      @thecarizon504  3 года назад

      Alec, I have 275's in the rear, 245 up front. It's tough to say if they need to be wider, I originally ran 305's in the back but they just didn't fit snug on the wheel and had a ton of play. I think the type of tire/tread material is more important. That's why I want to go with a softer tire, but it does mean tread life will be compromised.

It looks great, it's held up so far for the two years I've had it, so far no yellowing of the clear. And it's adjustable! The cost is the only downside since you will have to spend four digits but, I think it's worth it.

    How much work was required to re-route the wiring for the gauges from the glove compartment to the driver's-side pillar, and how did you address the now holes in your glove compartment? The cheap universal pillar I purchased on line doesn't fit and the SOHO pillar cannot be ready until a month after purchase (their supplier makes them when ordered). I should be picking up my car from Dynosty on Friday, April 2, but my gauges will be in the glove department. I'm trying to get a sense of whether it will be worth it to order a proper 2-gauge pillar and re-locate the gauges. Any insight would be appreciated.

    • @thecarizon504
      @thecarizon504  3 года назад +1

      Do you have a link to there a pillar out of curiosity? Wire rerouting wasn't bad, though getting the wires up from the floor board to the pillar can be tough if you don't take the entire dash apart. And I never addresses the holes in the glove box. No one looks in there.

    • @brianjackson5732
      @brianjackson5732 3 года назад +2

      @@thecarizon504 I don't have a link. Before ultimately choosing the ACE Kit and Dynosty, I reached out to SOHO about parts, labor and tuning. They had the pillar as part of my listed parts, but it's not on their website. When Dynosty told me that they would need to put the gauges in the glove box, I reached out to Nick about getting the pillar that had been listed on my parts listing. Unfortunately, neither SOHO nor the vendor keeps inventory of the pillars. Once they are ordered, it takes a month to get the pillar made and back from the vendor. I told Nick that I would likely be calling him back on the pillar, but I want to make sure that I am not looking at a huge (hourly) project, as I won't be doing the work.

      @@thecarizon504 I am currently running the High Flow Cats with the FI Catback, as the stock cats are in my basement. • @thecarizon504
      @thecarizon504  2 года назад +1

      The only input I have on this is that high flow cats are probably best, but modifying the emissions control system is going to be illegal no matter how you slice it, and there's no guarantee HFC's will pass emissions.
      But keeping the stock cats will severely restrict flow and could potentially suffer damage from increases exhaust pressure and are at a higher risk of becoming clogged

    • @brianjackson5732
      @brianjackson5732 2 года назад +1

      @@thecarizon504 I eventually elected to put the stock cats back on the car. I had called Fast Intentions in order to get my 34 row oil cooler and I inquired about the options. They told me to take the HFCs off and sell them because they would not withstand the heat. The advised that stock cats were much better built for the heat, but they too will eventually give out. At the high power levels available for either the ACE or Rotorex kits, giving up a few ponies in exchange for addressing the e85 smell and neighbor killing noise is worth it.
