Having been diagnosed with a terminal illness a couple of years ago, I fell out of my creative schedule simply due to appointments and not feeling well much of the time. I decided that needs to stop and will be painting much more this year (as I barely painted at all in 2023). This video came at an excellent time for me to rethink the what/how to accomplish this goal. Thank you for the excellent advice!
Praying you get to that easel, at least begin sketching, you won’t regret it. We have to cheat the brain and see ourselves having completed a painting, perhaps not perfect from the get go, but a painting nonetheless. Do it for yourself and your mental health. If you’re too weak, sketch whatever grabs your fancy ,all the while listening to some great music. God bless!
Night owl here. I piddle around in my morning because I use art as my carrot to get going cleaning the house. But since I don't like house chores and kitchen duty, I end up rarely getting to painting OR all that stuff I don't care for. I am going to have to turn my schedule on it's head so I get to what I want to do even if nothing else gets done. Of course, I'll eat😅 that's a given.
I am not a night owl but my head says do first households, tasks whatever "must do's" rather than to paint. I still try to turn the tables. My goal is to create a painting OCD iso household tasks OCD :-)) Try to hack my brain.
Great timing! Challenge lays between daily business, obligations, procrastination And creativity. I have set my intention this year and made a conscious choice to first finish your course Learn How to Paint with Impact. I have blocked creativity in my agenda . I'll be back :-) Thank you Malcolm
Yes fab advice…..always putting off getting down to painting….think it’s a lack of confidence in my work🤔love your dogs and of course am sure they love the beach
Spot on and just what I needed to hear Malcolm! Helping us to clarify our goals and how to make way for them to happen! How do you do it! I think you must be listening to the universe! 😊
You are absolutely right. I have created a timetable which I've stuck on my wall. I try to keep to it, although it has to be flexible as well. Thank you.
All good Terrie, we are very privileged actually to do our creative work. Much more troubles around the world. Would we all could have peace and creative time, how wonderful things would be.
Dear Malcolm, I'm not sure how it happened, you must think I'm a little nutty. I clicked on dedemaddox's message (I thought) about her terminal illness, that message you received was for her. I am sticking to my laptop when messaging anyone from now on, my cell phone doesn't seem work as well for me I guess.
Thanks Malcolm, it is brutally frigid here in Quebec, windows are frozen shut. So I would like to try my hand with the portrait, in sanguine . Any pointers?

That is BIG hurdle you had to climb. But you did it so painting more often is within your reach too. Go for it!
