WWITim yes, the competitors are not allowed to 'stall' or avoid contact for too long. I'm not sure what the time limit is, but if both people are waffling, sometimes the ref will give them both penalties. At least, that's how it is in judo, probably the same here.
The one time i was competitivly sparring in a tournament was a time that the person i was sparring against was wearing glasses so i had to kick over his head or else he would get points cuz i hit his glasses. Im short as fuck. That tournament was bullshit.
For those wondering how they made the animation they filmed two people fighting then drew over the video for each frame. This is called Rotoscopy. They could also have used an AI to draw each frame it would be easier.
I'm new to karate and come from a kickboxing and jiu jitsu background. I don't understand what was wrong with the penalties? Like the first penalty just looked like a basic punch to the head, why is this a penalty? The only one I understood was the kick to groin
Tiarnán Mac Donough the penalty kick and punch where not controlled they fallowed through , you need to hit you're target and bring you're foot or fist back
@@nekilikizhrvatske3336 in that movie, the rules are the same that real karate. the only difference was that daniel's moment. So that kick was a "deux ex machina", therefore illegal
It seems to me that some of the Okinawan-Japanese "Kara-te" tournaments belittled giving more points for a kick than a punch. Back in the 1970s, when Taekwondo tournaments gave the extra point for a head kick, Kara-te (Karate) practitioners heavily criticized it.
1:12 mark - it is against WKF rules to show non-combative behavior. 1:17 mark - it is against WKF rules to stall (another example of non-combative behavior).
Its spirit of karate: control of the force. If you don't show control and start bashing your opponnent its not karate anymore its becoming streetfight. These are two different things.
A martial art should be evaluated by the fidelity of the simulation of real-life conditions. Karate Kumite filters vital combat features like the close engagement techniques like: uraken-uchi, shuto-uchi, haito-uchi, otoshi-uchi, nukite and others like slap to the face with the inverted palm. Those techniques could be desisive in real-life conditions because they can allow an ensuing powerful technique. that may decide the encounter( they are the begining of the end). As a result the kumite contestants whenever they fail their long-distance attacks they grab each other sleeves trying to apply Judo-techiques like ashi-barai. This isn't a sound habit at all. Kumite is founded in a long tradition dating back in the early 20th century. In that era the protective gear available were very limited. Nowadays the existence of protective gear may allow the executions of the uchi points mentioned above without the risk of harming the opponent. It is no use to evoke Gichin Funagoshi and the "orthodox" tradition whereas the modern kumite has made so self-evident desecrations like the prologed 3-ippon fight. If Funagoshi knew that after the achievement of an ippon the fight was to be continued he would be furious about it. This is another concession to non-realism, the fighter should bear in mind that one lapse of vigilance would mean "curtains" and in real conditions ( that must be simulated with fidelity in martial arts so as the practitioner acquires sound habits ) he might have been dead. The restoration of the traditional rule of ONE IPPON is indispensable.
At 1:11 the right one got penalty because his leg was outside of the arena. At 1:21 both of them get penalty because they didn't do anything for too long.
1:21 I've seen way many matches when they were just jumping around for 10 seconds, no penalties. What's the time limit? Also how do you know if they are doing something?
its not forbiden.u do it with a lot of control,i.e,not making the head of your oponent move backwards.just hit n run.lol. but really dont compare traditional with sport karate(unfortunately)all this is being done so that karate can be included in olympic.but u should continue train both sport and traditional.n also these rules are by WKF.sport karate is really less contact just touch.you even have chest protection for man now.any blows delivered with too much power or without control is a fault.
You can punch the face, but you need to show that you control yourself. If your fist makes skin touch with the opponent's face you get a point. If your fist crushes the man's face you get penalty. In a real fight you will obviously want to crush the man's face but this is a competition and we don't want that 90% of the competitors will end up in a hospital.
I see. So they do teach you how to hit the face even if youre not allowed to hit it hard in competitions, you can stil smash someone's skull in an unofficial street fight with these techniques, is that right?
MultiMixt If you are in an unofficial street fight and you smash someone's skull I don't think that a judge will suddenly appear and say "Stop! You, penalty."

WWITim, the final Category 2 offence was "passivity", ie not attempting to engage in combat.

What the fu dude it is illegal to use glasses even if he becomes blind if he not wear it

Nah, it means that u shouldn’t use force while u punch/kick on the face or head. It injures the opponent badly. I hope this answer helps
I love how they designed it
I dont understand the last one. Is it that there was just no interaction with the two competitors?
WWITim me too
Passivity - not attempting to engage in combat.
Leaving your stance is a penalty
Jako mi se sviđa ova animacija, i sve je lepo objašnjeno. 💪🥋
Was Daniel's crane kick against Johnny legal?
No, not in that championship.

Regnery Cruz I agree with that.
wow he cool
pfffff While I agree that control is important, that kind of rules have transformed karate kumite in irrealistic BS : )
you fight how you train. If all you train is light touch, all you can do is light touching.
What's the last penalty on 1:13 ?
I learn karate so I wanted to know the rules before my sensi taught us gud
I'd have preferred instead of karate (as it's so similar to taekwondo) that we have San Shou/Sanda
1:01 oufff. that hit hard
so do you hit your opponent?
yes
Not hard
what was wrong at 1:21?
They were stalling and they weren't throwing any techniques
Joshua Embradura oh ok thanks!
Or is it because the guy on the left was faking with his arm raising?
is knockout a penelty in tournament
Samridhi Bahuguna
yes but it is allowed in the traditional karate
👍because it is easy to practice 👍👍👍👍

Why you get disqualified for the last one
Because your not engaging a to the fight. Your just going circles.

But the penalties look like normal kicks and punches how can we tell if its a penalty or not and is there another video to demonstrate it .
