They did an awesome job which I'm sure would make Kirsty proud, but let's not forget who brought the song to prominence, Tracy Ullman.
Kirsty actually did backup vocals on Tracy's version.
Hands down, this is best song from Renee on the show ever, with plenty of camera love from her too.
The '50s were big in the '80s. I was a teen in the '80s. Double nostalgia for me here. Thank you and other channels for preserving this simple but very underrated show.
Stray Cats and Rockabilly music.
This song is from 79
But done in 1950s style, and performed in 1980s. Appeals to 1950s nostalgia, as well as my memories of this show as a youth.
Damn they did a great job! This harmonies are on point
They have the best version that’s better than Tracy Ullman’s version.
Just superb from Renee, but they all deserve huge praise for this fabulous version of a great song by the sadly missed Kirsty Macoll.
I thought Tracy Ullman sang this.
@@lakebay972 She covered it. It was written by Kirsty, but her version didn't go anywhere.
@@andrewcomerford264 Wow! Learned something new. I just remember when MTV played the holy hell out of the Tracy Ullman version back in the day.
@@andrewcomerford264 Kirsty also provided the backing vocals for Tracy Ullman's version
@@andrewcomerford264 I'm glad you clarified that for me because I actually saw the video of Tracey singing this song yesterday and I did a search because I didn't believe that was her song but I couldn't find any info to suggest that she just covered it, for some reason. Thanks for the clarification. It's a great song!
Can we go back to.the 80s?
Totally love this cover. All the girls did brilliant🎬🎵☆
I love watching the little people do their thing. Great song, great performance, great video.
Renee did this so good.
I have to admit I loved this back in the 80's. The show and the song.
Renee does a great version of this song!
One of her best. She had a lot of great solos this season including: Games People Play, Angel, Gambler, Into the Groove, and Dress You Up!
Definitely one of my number 1's....i play it so much now and the past i lost count how many times
FABULOUS!! BRAVO 👏🏿
It was my favorite show as a teenager in the ❤ 80’s.
I sort of think this is Renee's best performance. She nails this song. Better than the original by far.
Johnny Howard You must be smoking drugs - original is a classic ! Are you her father ?
This is a very cute version and these kids are super adorable but it's just basically a faster poppier version of the original, that's all. The original has the bells which are the essence of this song that this version doesn't have, but no way this is "better than the original by far."
@johnnyquest870 Bud that was not an attack LOL, I was just saying that I disagree with you. Attack is using offensive language or write with a hostile tone, I didn't do any of that.
Uh ... no.
It's a good cover.
If you are referring to Tracey Ullman's version, that's not the original. Kirsty MacColl wrote and performed it a couple of years previously and hers is definitively the best version
This was such a good song
Great song !
Renee !!!!!! ❤ 🥰🌹🌹🌹Never get tired of hearing her
Stunning guitar solo.
Supert voice well done girl
The Two biggest STARS are in the background.
Who knew ?
Beautiful
Wow, that's great ❤😊
In this cover version of this song, the Yamaha DX7 ROM-4A patch “Tub Bells”, Ensoniq ESQ-1 patch “Bells” and Emu Emulator II patch “Synclavier” were heard.
Stumbled across this looking for “They Don’t Know” covers and while I’m not into kid music, good job.
Ooh it’s really good
I think Ms Ullman would give it 5 stars
Talent scouts. Oh my. ❤️❤️😭
Renee was my Kids Inc crush
I HAVE KIDS INCORPORATED ON DVD. REENE WAS A AWESOME SINGER.
Cute version.
Happy birthday, Kirsty Maccoll ZL [10 October 1959]
rip
Kristy Maccoll is the original artist.
I remember Tracy Ullman doing this song in the mid 89s...which is probably why they did it
she did do it...in 1979 LOL a little after sock hops ;)
Thought it was Tracey Ullman lol
It’s 💯% Tracey’s version , so yes.
Tell me that was NOT lip-sync! Because, damn that was a DYNAMITE performance!
Lip-synch for the show, as is normal for such things, but it’s their real voices.
@@TommygunNGwith some electronic help
Not sure how much, but if you say so.
The doo-wop dance moves are my favorite part.
They are just so cohesive here in moves and in background vocals. This song is perfection.
Ryan faked that guitar so good you'd almost think he was playing it lol
Written and released by Kirsty MacColl in 1979 it was doing well in the radio airplay charts when unfortunately a distributors strike affected its general release. As a consequence Kirsty's original failed to chart in the UK. As pointed out Tracey Ullman did a cover version a few years later with some backing vocals by Kirsty most notably the Baby lyric.
Copies of the original release are in existence but difficult to find. There is a video on RUclips.
Thank you! :)
They are excellent but Tracy's version was amazing
Song was written and sung by Kirsty MacColl in 1979.
I'm very aware of that
Very sad
Sorry we lost her
Original artist: KIRSTY MACCOLL
I had a crush on Martika.
Wow, I like this better than the original!🌟 Who is that girl singing?
Those young 'uns have the right stuff!
I wish the director didn't tell them to follow the cameras throughout the performance. If they're on stage, they should be looking at the audience and the cameras should record as if it were a legit live show. Just a minor pet peeve
❤
This may be a Mandela Effect on me but I could swear they sang this song at the beginning of another episode. But anyways love all versions of this song.
So are Stacy Ferguson ( Fergie) (the blonde girl singing in the background, AND Martika (the taller girl behind Fergie) the only ones from Kids Incorporated that made it big and had careers in the music business ?
is the little blond girl fergie?
Yes she‘s Fergie
aaaah yes.. . how to pass one's 80s mall mullet off as a 50s sodafountain ponytail? one of the all time great dilemmas of the 80s..
Good, REAL good, maybe even great.
Not better.
Kirsty MacColl
don't forget to do as i say
my dad forced me to watch these
They changed found good loving to found good friends. But at Reenes age it would have been inappropriate to sing the original lyric.
Great rendition, but you absolutely need to give composer credit to the great Kirsty MaColl.
0:18 Brutale Körpertäuschung wie Lionel Messi aufm Feld 🤣🤣
Renée's adult career should involve children. I don't think she had the type of personality to be in entertainment.
Some time ago I rewrote this song for LGBT couples. I give my consent to anyone who wants to record it - without editing the text. I'm not a singer or I'd do it myself. Here's the lyrics:
Hey Baby, got a hold on me
Our love will last from now until eternity
Hey baby don’t you leave me now
It’s you and me alone but we’ll make it some how
No they won’t listen to a word we say
And their arms don’t open and they keep us at bay
They don’t wanna know about us
cuz they’ve never heard of love
Hey Baby, gonna make it thru
I couldn’t live this lifetime if it wasn’t for you
But baby they just want us to go
They keep us in a blindspot so they don’t have to know
About us or listen to a word I say
And their arms won’t open till I send you away
No they don’t wanna know about us
cuz they don’t know a thing about love
Hey Baby, you just listen to me
We’re not the ones in trouble now, just wait and see
Cuz, Baby, you know what they’ve done?
They’ve turned the world against us, but with God & His Son
On our side, we’ll never be alone again
They don’t wanna hear about us
They don’t know the Golden Rule is Love
Hey Baby, gonna make it last
We’ll focus on the future and we’ll throw out the past
Hey Baby, now you’re in my heart
We’ve got it like a marriage and with all the good parts
So I won’t listen to a thing they say
Till their arms are wide open and they say we’re okay
If they don’t wanna know about us,
it’s cuz they’ve never heard of love
No I won’t listen to their tired lines
Cuz they’ve closed their hearts as they’ve closed their minds
And they will never hear about us,
cuz they don’t care a thing about love
what's with the synchronized squatting? lol it looks awkward
Sadly these shows were lip synced. Been more interesting seeing the kids sing live
