I'll be playing with getting a 580 lift cam to work with the VCT soon. As it's basically just a helical gear actuating it you can minimise the "throw" by shimming the internals, so it only has say 5 degrees of advance.
A 580 lift wont achieve much more than 450 on an AU. Anyway The vct cant be shimmed, ive pulled them apart its a meshed geared system, caution if you attempt to pull it apart very few people can put them back together.I have done it myself and it requires patience and skill .Your very likely to have a valve to piston clash when running big lifts or wild cams on a VCT motor Ive tested 5 different cams the heads simply dont breath more than 320hp at 5500, anything bigger than 230 deg at .050 is a waist of time.
@@jimmyhack007fixit3 I've been ticketed for 15 years it's not beyond my skill lol. You can shim it to limit the travel. Trust me ;) It's not a stock head with a wild cam. This thing has a bottom end built to hold 1500hp. Just the fact you need to machine the head to accept springs that will have more than 550 lift says that
Hi there, are you making/ selling camshafts for VCT SOHC engines? I would be very interested in 1 for my AU Turbo, if so how do we contact you? Cheers buddy.
Great content
Whats it sound like at idle?
